Did you not read the name of this thread Here are some links in case you want to build yer own If you had posted this in Plunder I doubt anyone would have said one peep about it. In here, people like to discuss the deep dark details of things, preferably with some sort of supporting evidence. That Smoke & Fire chest looks interesting. But just because a sutler sells it doesn't mean it is correct. :)

Actually, as I recall there are, sort of.

My mind was shouting "STOP" at me today, but somehow, even though the temptation was there, I managed to push through it...

"Tut, tut. It looks like rain."

If you are going to be hard on someone, best be hard on yourself first. Then... your kids next, just so they grow up to be decent people! Rum? Bed? Rum? Bed? Rum? Bed? Tough decision...

^ for the first time in like 15 years last June. It took waaaay too long. Too much junk. I don't want stuff anymore. And yet, stuff seems to still appear. What can ya do... I think I've finally finished unpacking. Well... except for some boxes of stuff I don't really need to unpack, things collected long ago which hold more sentimental value than any other purpose. < I want a new pistol!!! V What do you want?

You enter the realm of what motivates people to do one thing yet say another. I'm sure we've all done this at one time or another. Look inside yourself, see if you've ever done that, then ask yourself what your motive was. It might be similar to what motivates this person... or not. And just because someone preaches something yet does another thing, if they thing preached is valid, it is valid no matter what the motivation of the preacher. And... hell, everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes. As for blasting someone, well... as Buckaroo Banzai said, "Hey, hey, hey. Don't be mean. We don't have to be mean because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are." (Gee, I've gotten to use that twice in as many days. Must be something going around.)

^ whist is alot of fun. probably that, or chess. < Is serious thinking of having an evening of period games next friday night, with good friends and good liquor. V Play for fun, or to win?

Saw the most incredible IMAX film yesterday. It was in 3d! I don't even remember the name, but suffice to say, it was about the Apollo missions, and the special effects were absolutely, without a doubt the most amazing I have ever seen. Really made you feel like you were there in that magnificent desolation... Oh, and that was the name of the film. It really was heart-wrenching...

< Feeling very, very, humbled by the various kind words written about me in various threads yesterday... thank you. Thank you very much.

Snow sounds like fun Tom. My fun exercise yesterday was carrying two kids back and forth between museums in DC yesterday. I only carried one at a time, and only when they needed it, but I probably spent a good two hours total carrying an extra 40+ pounds. But it was fun! Certainly no where near as much fun as the combo exercise bike and weights I did just now.

The Pirate Brethren will be hosting a Pirate Camp and battle at Elk Landing, Maryland, on June 2, 2007. If you are a reenactor interested in attending please contact me via email. Here's a quick low down on the site. It is located in the north eastern corner of Maryland, close to PA and DE. Not too far from major highways. Plenty of camping space available, etc. And yes... this conflicts with Hampton BB Fest, I know. Sorry, but I had no other choice. Hope to see you there.

Sterling! I am truly honored! (insert bowing low and removing hat smiley here) Thank you. A week or two ago I started work on an article about hats, the flipside of which would be cravats. Now, while the images you are about to see are not captains, this does give a good indication of what one may have seen on the streets of London in the opening decades of the Golden Age. Talking Heads OR Some Observations on Hair, The Wearing of Hats, Headscarves and Neckclothes http://www.piratebrethren.com/articles/hat...ats/hats01.html Apologies for cross posting, but here's a link to some of the discussion we had about these recently. I'd copy and past the important stuff here, but the sun is rising... http://www.piratebrethren.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

^ No, we are lucky if we can even know ourselves. On the other hand, if you know yourself, you are on your way to knowing others. < Somewhere a couple pages back I believe someone asked about scars... I have a couple favorites. One of the best is the knife wound across the top of my thumb on my right hand. Almost lost a chunk o' flesh. It's been about five years, and I can finally say I do have working sensory nerves endings on the top of my thumb! V Apologize, or wait for an apology?
