They had to think it was the end of the world in the 1692 earthquake. Been thru a couple modern ones that were scary, but they dont even rate compared to Port Royal. William... Note the tavern is the center of the Debauchery scene. Careful who you choose for a barkeep! LOL

Shameless Capitalism... I like it!

I used to say pattern instructions are written in Danish and they may as well be. Cause I dont get most of them either. especially modern ones.

HOLLYWOOD VERSION (Just for laughs) 1. A really big hat and I mean big, with lots of feathers and stuff 2. Bucket boots (duh) 3. A Pirate name preceded by "Captain" 4. Costume justaucorp with loud decorations and big sleeves 5. belt straps for mugs, bags, and extra stuff 6. Baldric with big gaudy buckle and attachments for at least 4 pistols 7. black jeans 8. sleeveless waistcoat with gold brocade and medieval shoulder flaps 9. A striped sash. You know... like capt jack 10. Flair - at least 15 pieces of flair on your coat and hat 11. Bourbon street beads 12. sunglasses 13. At least one skull ring for each finger Why 13? Cause too much is just enough!

It's funny... looking at prior lists shoes were either first or last. My list is pretty close to Michael's above... 1. latchet shoes should always be FIRST! (good luck borrowing something that fits). Granted, this represents a first commitment to the hobby. 2. Clothing: breeches, shirt, socks, hat (minimal) 3. something to carry/hide your necessaries (phone/wallet/medications/etc): haversack, sailor bag, snapsack, market wallet (No, not a belt strap for your mug). 4. Eating gear. plate/bowl/trencher, spoon, mug 5. sailor knife - this should be bundled with #4 since you need a knife to eat with and a salior would not be caught dead without one. The above allows you to participate in good fashion during open hours, then you can look at bedroll, shelter, etc 6. bedroll: wool blanket at very least (I rank this above shelter, because tent space and barracks are sometimes available) I've seen William sleep under a picnic table wrapped in a flag, and on a rug under the stars. Totally depends on your preferences, or lack thereof. 7. Shelter: a simple fly (10X10) is flexible enough for a leanto, an oar tent, etc... AND, if you are staying overnight, you may want a Turkish (linen) towel for showers. Nothing worse than a modern striped towel hanging to dry in camp. 8. The rest is mostly dependent on your character's vocation and how you want to represent it, i.e firearms, a scrub bucket, nautical tools, etc. As you traverse the hobby, you will develop your own preferences and acquire unique items from your travels that become part of your kit.

And it begins again! good for you. You cant find test material cheaper than thrift stores. Sometimes you even find good stuff. Since I started SlopsByChaaps again, I've been churning out slops and waistcoats. I've got a couple to finish up, but posted some on Etsy shop. I think your hat looks good. It has attitude and works!

I'm trying to decide what to make with this... I made a gaggle of shirts before Ft Gaines, so I dont really need shirts right now. It's kinda really too nice for lining. Guess I'll set it aside for the next batch of shirts.

Over the Festival weekend the whole of the old seaport town of Harwich rang with the sound of lusty shanties, music emanating from pubs, boats, clubs and our many historic buildings. There are street theatre sketches, maritime crafts, pirates, barge trips, walks, talks and workshops on offer and the town fills with colour as visitors soak up the atmosphere created over this special weekend. https://harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/

untilAhoy, Ventnor! Our historic town recently transformed into a swashbuckling spectacle with the it’s first-ever Pirate Festival. Held over four days, this new event brought the community together in a celebration of all things piratical, and by all accounts, it was a resounding success. The festival kicked off with a parade that saw pirates of all ages—young lads and lasses to seasoned seadogs—marching through the town in full regalia. The streets of Ventnor came alive with the sights and sounds of a bygone era, with local businesses joining in the fun by decking out their storefronts with skulls, crossbones, and plenty of pirate flair. Entertainment over the festival was in no short supply either, with live music, storytelling, and interactive pirate-themed games keeping everyone in high-sea spirits. Children had the chance to participate in treasure hunts, workshop and meet their favourite pirates, while adults enjoyed rum-tasting sessions and a lively atmosphere at The Spyglass Inn, with tonnes of live music and plenty of drinking in the sun! The Ventnor Pirate Festival has been a success in showcasing the town's vibrant community spirit, as well as unifying the many local businesses in getting in the swashbuckling spirit. The festival's success has already sparked talk of making it an annual event, and it's safe to say that Ventnor has found a new tradition that will continue to grow and delight for years to come. As the sun set on this inaugural event, one thing was clear: Ventnor has proven that it knows how to throw a pirate party like no other. Here’s to many more years of swashbuckling shenanigans. untilPassionate about the time of pirates, privateers and flibusters as well as the live show, a group of inhabitants of Binic decided to revive the city in the 18th century. In March 2014, the Grain d'pirate association was born. Very soon, inhabitants of Binic and the surrounding communes, driven by the desire to experience a great adventure, joined the crew. All bring their skills to help set up a large gathering of pirates, privateers and flimsy trees in Côtes d'Armor. The past six editions have been a growing success (nearly 25,000 people in 2022): small and large, local and summer, spectators, have not hesitated to come from the 4 corners of the country and even beyond to enjoy this free family event. The proof of this is that pirates are always dreaming, and that is the goal that Grain d'pirate has set for itself. A dive into the heart of an 18th century port with pirate camps and artisan shacks on the seafront shows, concerts, artistic performances, parades, entertainment for children and adults, saber fighting.. from kilt to botany and different modes of medicine to the 18th, we will find ourselves this year in Celtic land with its myths and legends https://www.graindpirate.fr/ Facebook
