Rediscover or discover Sainte-Marie in a different light. After the successful first edition, the Pirate Festival will return in November (from 1st to 3rd) on the island of Sainte-Marie. This will be the opportunity for Nosy Boraha to “transform into a real pirate den for three days”, the organizers say. This time it will be all folklore, linked to the tourist image of the island, that will be the protagonist, with events that will be animated both by local residents and by famous artists who have come specifically for the occasion. Numerous activities are planned, including the great treasure hunt, sports competitions, as well as numerous artistic and cultural events. “The objective of the Pirate Festival is to diversify the tourist offer and further promote the Sainte-Marie destination”, explain the organizers. This will be the opportunity for tourists to also discover the island’s flagship circuits, in particular “Pirate Island”, the inspiring muse of local tourism. This circuit immerses visitors in the history of piracy in Sainte-Marie, constituting one of its main tourist attractions. Trace an exciting route that leads to the Vieux-Fort, the Church, Isle Madame, the Saint-Pierre cemetery and Forbans Island. The “Pirate Festival” is an event organized by the LCDF association (Le Circuit de Forban), partner of Orange Madagascar, and responsible for the management and promotion of the “Pirate Island” circuit. The Festival is organized in collaboration with the Tourist Office of Sainte-Marie and the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts is a privileged partner. For several weeks in Sainte-Marie there has been enthusiasm to prepare the ground. Even in the off-season, this annual event, which began last year, has helped boost the local tourism sector. This year’s parade will be held Wednesday through Sunday, December 18-22, 2024 and is once again hosted by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. 2024 Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Route As the 116th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade moves its way through the Newport Harbor this December, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Committee, with the leadership of The Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, will continue with its parade route starting and ending point at Tip of Lido Isle. The parade will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. each night from December 18 – 22, 2024. Parade participants will start from the east end of Lido Island following the celebrated route, with the first public viewing destination at the 10.5-acre Marina Park. The community park offers 177 parking spaces, nautical-themed playground, picnic area and sailing center, and is also the largest public viewing area along the parade route, creating an optimal location to gather and enjoy the festivities. The holiday season in Key West is decidedly different than it is in northern climes. 33rd Annual Schooner Wharf Bar/Absolut Vodka Lighted Boat Parade --- set to sail into our southernmost city's Key West Bight and Harbor on December 14th at 8:00pm. For Key West and the Florida Keys, it's a tropical tribute to the season and a big family affair. Parade participants and spectators on the docks watching the parade feel as if they are part of one big family. The parade starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, but the family fun begins at 6 p.m. along the brilliantly decorated Harbor Walk, while the Bahama Village Music Program "House of Pan" steel band chimes in with Caribbean, calypso Christmas carols to please the crowds along the warm winter waterfront. The festivities continue with the island vibe of sound of steel pans. Get your holiday Caribbean on with reggae, soca and calypso! There are scores of delightfully decorated motor and sailing vessels that compete for bragging rights and there are boatloads of prizes with a Free Raffle. The prizes are guaranteed to spur our local creative seafarers to reach their artistic peaks. Long hours go into crafting inventive designs and stringing garlands and icicle lights from bow to stern. Vessels have ranged from a kayak with battery-powered lights, to fishing vessels, to classic schooners. Look for palm trees - not spruce, fir or pine - aboard the holiday vessels. And don't forget the conch shells, this is the Conch Republic after all.
