untilIf you're looking for something to do in Rostock in August 2025, we'd highly recommend 34th Hanse Sail Rostock. According to the official organiser, this event will take place in Rostock, Germany, from Thursday, August 7th to Sunday, August 10th 2025. Whilst we're unable to confirm details at this stage, it's expected that at least one tall ship will take part in 34th Hanse Sail Rostock. As one of the largest maritime festivals in Europe, Hanse Sail Rostock is always a must see event. Whilst an international fleet of over 150 traditionally rigged vessels provides the centrepiece to the event, it’s also about exploring the history, culture and traditions of the Baltic region as a part of Baltic Sail. If you’re keen to experience traditional sail first hand then look no further as Hanse Sail Rostock will offer the chance to step aboard and sail away with many of the vessels in attendance. If you’re entertaining guests there will likely also be deck hospitality opportunities on offer. If you’re a fan of a good finale, make sure you stay up for the fireworks (to be confirmed) on the final evening and stick around for the parade of sail (to be confirmed) the next day as all the ships set sail together in a spectacular farewell to the city of Rostock. For the event schedule, public opening hours and ticket information please visit their official website as timings may be subject to change and your visit may require booking in advance. https://www.hansesail.com/ https://tallshipsnetwork.com/events/33rd-hanse-sail-rostock/

Every year, the 23 August, the charming village of Naoussa, on the Greek island of Paros, hosts one of the most anticipated events by the inhabitants: The Pirate Festival, also known as the Pirate Barbarossa Festival. The event takes place nine days after the Assumption of the Virgin, to celebrate the victory achieved by the inhabitants of Paros, against the pirates and Barbarossa in the 1537. During the Middle Ages, in fact, the pirates used to raid the cities and islands where they often raided. Many Cycladic villages were rendered almost invisible by the sea, so that the pirates could believe that they were uninhabited. The preparations and the festivities begin a few days later the Assumption. On August 23rd, the whole village is celebrating. The young people of the country, parading with masks and disguises in perfect pirate style, to represent the raids. In the sky, fireworks warn of the presence of corsairs and enemy fire. All in a real representation of a battle! The Festival dei Pirati, then, continues until dawn, with songs, dances and traditional dances. You can have fun, go wild and drink rivers of … suma, the typical Paros distillate. And of course, great food. PRACTICAL INFO HOW TO GET Naoussa is located about 10 kilometers north-east of Parikia, the capital of the island of Páros. By car, it can be reached in about 20 minutes, through Epar. Od. Parikia-Naoussa, which you will have to travel for 8 kilometers. The Greek KTEL guarantees bus connections between the capital and Naoussa. The bus operates every day, with the following times: From Parikia. From Monday to Friday, 07:25, 09:00, 10:40, 12:10, 14:15, 16:00. Weekend, 09:00, 12:10, 14:00 (Saturday only). From Naoussa. From Monday to Friday, 07:45, 08:10, 09:30, 11:00, 12:30, 13:30, 14:35, 15:50. Weekend, 09:30, 12:30, 14:30 (Saturday only). The ticket can be purchased directly on board the vehicle, at the cost of €2,50 per person. https://kanoa.org.uk/events/pirate-festival/

untilAlexandria Bay is the proud home of the Famous “Bill Johnston’s Pirate Days.” There are 10 days filled with family fun and special events. Our sword-fighting group, known as the ‘Tales from Remikreh,’ will be performing throughout the Village streets and at various Route 12 locations. Be sure to stop by and visit the Entertainment tent for a list of activities planned for that day. Bill Johnston was a renegade after the Patriots War, who blew up the British steamer, Sir Robert Peel, hid among the 1000 Islands, and was hunted by both U.S. and Canadian authorities. The annual Bill Johnston’s Pirates Days celebration commemorates some of his exploits. Fill your senses with the sound and spectacle when pirate ships attack the village from the St. Lawrence River, as the brave villagers try to stave them off. The air is filled with smoke and the sound of musket fire and cannon, and eventually the villagers succumb as the pirates invade the town. After the Mayor turns over the key to the village to the invading marauders, everyone becomes a pirate. The Alexandria Bay Chamber of Commerce, through the hard work of our members; sponsor all of the above events. You are invited to join in the spirit of Pirate Days and dress as a Pirate, Patriot, or Indian when attending any or all of these events. All times are subject to change. Please check the Event Board at the Entertainment Tent or at the Chamber Office at (315) 482-9531. A band of Sword Fighting Pirates will be available during all 10 days at most events listed for photo opportunities. The Tales from Remikreh group will be throughout the Village so BEWARE! Please see the schedule at the Entertainment Tent for specific locations and times. Check out local merchants for sales of event flags. Most events are free and for the enjoyment of the public. https://visitalexbay.org/our-events/bill-johnstons-pirate-days-2024/
