  1. It's kind of difficult to specify a "favorite" movie since, for me, it's a moving targer, however movies I have greatly enjoyed include: The Matrix Pirates of the Caribbean #1 Treasure Island (1990) Quigley Down Under The Shootist Goldfinger Funeral in Berlin Day of the Jackal (1973) Cars Ratatouille Age of Consent 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) Star Trek, The Wrath of Kahn Out of Africa

  3. The first thing you need to do is decide on a construction method and tied into this if you want to finished product to reflect period construction methods or if that is not a requirement as long as it seems to be a period piece. Stitch and glue is probably the simplest construction method so assuming you would be using this method you would then need to select a design that would lend itself to this type of construction. The line drawing above of the Flatner looks like it could be a candidate for stitch and glue construction so the question then is can we get plans for such a boat or do we need to design it ourselves? Plans greatly simplify a lot of issues like placement of the daggerboard, mast rigging attachment points etc. Once these items have been determined you can start looking at collecting the material to build the craft.
  4. My belt goes around me waistcoat, me cup hangs from the belt, me great coat covers it. I have the inside of my greatcoat pocket cut out so I can draw me cup at a moments notice. Don't want to miss out on any rum offerings mates.
  5. I've been on the MoR site for a few years and they take their rum very seriously. That said, the results do seem a bit odd. I'm all for doing our own tasting and in true pyrate style all ships company should have a vote. Let's start by making a list of the rums we would like to have included. I'd submit a couple of my favorites: Pyrat XO Reserve Flor de Cana Grand Reserve Actaually anything from these two sources is excellent IMHO. I would include Cask 23 but we should probably keep the cost a bit below the $200/bottle range. I have also been looking for a bottle of El Dorado 15 which I hear is an excellent rum but have not been able to find it in the last three states I passed through. Anyone in Florida having an idea where I can acquire said rum, the information would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Sad news indeed. My condolences to Minnie.
  7. Been raining for most of the week with winds to around 25kn. Suppose to be one more day of this then a bit of sun. Have to bail out the dinghy at least once per day. Amazing how much fresh water it collects.
