It is a very "common" impression - but I adore the colors Kate picked. The color of the skirt is just this fabulous rust and with the oatmeal mantua it just speaks of simplicity. I really love how it is all coming together.

I've not been around much, since I've been so busy between work and house hunting, but I just realized I never showed off my new clothes! I made my first ever chemise (good lord. I sewed. What in heaven's name is going on here? WHAT HAVE YOU PEOPLE DONE TO ME?!), the stays are JAS Townsend, but the skirt and mantua? Those are all Kate Souris's GORGEOUS work! Gorgeous isn't even a strong enough word. Seriously. Next up, I hope to have a house soon so that I have actual ROOM in which to attempt to make some things myself. I have a heap of fabric just waiting....

I got home a little after 11pm. have been doing the necessities before heading back to the office tomorrow morning. Crazy tired and had too much fun, for real.

I just unpacked enough to get to the camera and download the pics off it - I will try to get them up tomorrow! I had an unbelievable amount of fun hanging out with everyone again and these pics you guys took are amazing - thank you all for making my birthday memorable! And most especially Jessica and Michael for picking me up form the airport, the beyond-the-pale-gorgeous petticoat and mantua, the cake, and for being all around awesome folk. You guys are beyond my capability to describe at the moment, because I am too exhausted from all the fun. Seriously! And, of course, Mission, for the ride back to the airport - despite the protests and stalling, still managing to get me there in time for my flight!

My first step will be to dye the jacket to try to get it from the drab olive to a more blue/grey shade. Which will be nerve wracking! lol

I recently went to comic book con dressed as an employee of Mooby's - the fictional fast food chain in Kevin Smith's movies. One of my next projects is to recreate a Nostromo Crew jacket from Alien. I just got the base jacket from ebay uk a few weeks ago. Haven't had to start it yet, but here is the jacket - a Royal Airforce MK III circa the mid 60s.

It's actually the kanji for the phonetic sounds "go" and "se" (pronounced GO-suh), which roughly translates to "shit". Um. yeah. ANYWAY! My endeavor to get photos with the cast continues!
