  1. Pirates don't have friends.... we have potential victims that we know pretty well but still like. edit: Yaaar! I guarantee you that if you add me as a friend. you WILL feel all fuzzy inside. Probably your brain telling you yer about to get plundered
  2. Yaaar! I cannot attend this year. I'm building a haunted house on Friday and it usually runs late so I'll need half of Saturday to clean up and the other half to supply lights for a Cadillac commercial. Sunday I have the paranormal tour in the Queen Mary (spooky). With all of this going on I can't drive out there but PLEASE take pictures and rub them in my face . This sounds like a horrible thing to do, but it will make me feel better to at least see some going ons. Have fun non the less and I'll post some Halloween pictures in the beyond pyracy forum. Prepare for the Ghost of Jack Rackham!
  3. Good to know Tito. Thanks for the heads up and Yaaaaar!
  4. Ok, so I'm bored at work during lunch and since I see the WAG going on, I thought I'd start one myself. This is the three word game where I post three words and then YOU post three words. The idea is to create a story with each pirate adding three words that connect somehow to a prior post. Here goes. A Dirty Pirate...
  5. I was going to say the same thing. For hi-jacking is indeed, pirate.
  6. If I may, Rumba, I believe it's pirate code to use a tankard large enough to kill another pirate. Not that you would but most certainly could. Yaaaaar! Agreed non the less because you don't want to be caught drinking out of a red plastic cup. Hehe. Some vendors call the hanger a mug frog (or something to that affect) if you browse the webz and can't see a picture.
  7. Yaaar this many posts and it has yet to be mentioned (i forgot as well). Rum. You need rum and lots of it. If I may take a quote from another pirate. "Rum gives pirates super powers.. to use against... the dutch." In my case the Spanish but hey, to each their own.
  8. http://www.bilgemunky.com/radio/ In case you never knew about Bilgemunky, he plays every Monday night at 6 pm Pacific. Good tunes from every musical genre from folk to metal, from acoustic to hip hop. Good times and you may see some folks from here in there as well. His site has information on how to join the IRC chat room for more shenanigans. Yaaaaar!
  9. Sadly, I know of no primers as I've gotten all my information from those with first hand experience. Cascabel has years and years of experience as many others who visit this forum. IMO your best bet is to fire away on questions here, as you will get a personalized response and not just a book that you can't ask questions. Well you could try to ask it questions, just make sure no one is looking when you do =) EDIT: Yaaar since everyone is here, does anyone have pros or cons (likes or dislikes even) between the doglocks and the standard (i guess i would say) blunderbuss? Still picking my brain on which I would enjoy to own more.
  10. Well you have clothes so you won't be showin' up nekked. Despite what some pirates would say, this is a good thing. =) To be honest, you are pretty much set to start. Perhaps either a hat or head scarf will do you right. If money is tight then I would say go slow and pick up a little here and a little there as you go from faire to faire (I really hate it when I rhyme but I hate retyping more, ha!). You have the basics covered so at this point it's just your own personal flavor that will come in to play. This takes time and can't exactly be rushed. You could buy everything now but you may not like some pieces later on or they just don't fit. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish you have an infinite amount of choices. For instance, say you like the adventuring/trav type of pirate, then pick up some shrunken heads or items from "distant" lands. Once you are not nekked anymore, it's all in the accessories which takes time and money. Yaaaar! and welcome to the pub by the way.
  11. Dang that's a good deal. Just saying edit: forgot to say, I don't like flash guards either. As I was always taught "Away from your body, towards your buddy" Ha!
  12. Yes, and I make sure to lock my door when I play with my dolls "HEY! Those are the guys that stole our uniforms! ...And beat the $@#? out of us too!" Does not work for our conversation, but I had to get my favorite quote out there some how.
  13. God bless liquid latex and stains. Yaaar! I really want to see those pix when you get 'em.
  14. Yaaar, that's why she added me as a friend. I think they are just about right now
  15. Hahaha that is classic, Rogue. Do you always drink coffee while watching radar? For the first time I will be building a display house so I don't have to dress up like a scary person and scare others. Luckily I get to wear my yaaaaaar outfit. Not period, but still fun. I'll be posting pictures of myself and the house by the weekend. Yaaar!
  16. Yaaaar! I have spoken with Pete from middlesex and he is a very smart, funny and nice guy. I tried to search the forums but failed for a post of another pyrate that holds MVTC in high regards as well. Whether it be doglock or standard blunderbuss, I do not believe you can go wrong with any of their arms. Most, if not all, of their arms are live fire quality (most of their clients hunt with them) and apart from attaching the flint and loading it for you, the arms are ready to go. From what Pete told me, the only thing they don't do is attach a flashpan guard for reenacment safety. It's a pain to do and I don't blame them. Guard or no, this is a great place to pick up a B.P. gun. You mentioned this would be your first one, so I suggest picking up some accoutrements as they have some nice ones there and will save you on shipping to bundle them all up together. I really hope you pick one up for yourself. I share the love of the blunderbuss YaaaaaR! edit: I've picked up BP guns from places like Cabelas but found it's much better to buy from someone with a heart and MVTC is chalk full of that, man.
  17. Yaaaaar! I hope so. If you run Vista, here's a nifty little customization you can do. http://www.stardock.com/products/mycolors/...ry.asp?p=pirate I have yet to test it though. So go by your own accord. I will try it tonight when I get home. However, the real piracy act is the price. YAAAAAAAR!!!!!!
  18. WAAAAAAARRR! "Internet Pyracy, when you realize you've gone too literal."
  19. I wish I had the money for something like that as well. Here's another place that sells those and a few other nice ones. http://www.middlesexvillagetrading.com/PDBF.SHTML Of course for just a bit more you could be the happy owner of one of these. http://www.middlesexvillagetrading.com/MSBB.shtml Yaaaaar!
  20. Yaaar we threw them overboard last time we got drunk. Best to use these toothbrushes. (look around and you can tell no one uses them anyway) YAaaaR!
  21. What I find rather ironic about this situation is that the government of Somalia specifically wanted more Russian ships to guard their waters. They said something about feeling safer with her over all other countries. Had Russia been a fraction of their former selves, they would destroy their own ship with the equipment on board rather then watch in the hands of the "enemy". Yaaaaaaar!
