Red Cat Jenny
Finally!!!! Huzzah for Patrick!!!! Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.... CrazyCholeBlack
Many thanks Mr. Hand, or perhaps Captain Search would be more fitting? I believe there might even be a thread or two in there that I haven't already read. Not for long I say! Sjöröveren
Anyone else having problems with the links that Patrick compiled? Every time I click on one, it just brings me to the main forum page. It may be my browser, I suppose. We just got a new iMac, and I'm using Safari for the first time. the Fool's Gold Pirates
michaelsbagley
Anyone else having problems with the links that Patrick compiled? Every time I click on one, it just brings me to the main forum page. It may be my browser, I suppose. We just got a new iMac, and I'm using Safari for the first time. Hey Sjöröveren, The links are from prior to Stynky's revamp... So if you copy and paste the link, and remove the portion of the URL that says "forums" they will work correctly. For example the first link for "Common Sailor's Clothing", the old link looks like this... https://pyracy.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8310, but if you edit the link in the address bar of your browser to look like this... https://pyracy.com/index.php?showtopic=8310 it will work fine. Hope this helps! Cheers! Edited January 4, 2009 by michaelsbagley
Cire
Might pay for either Patrick or a mod to update the links. That way instead of multiple people making the effort several times when they want to check the links, it just needs to be done once, and then everyone is saved a bit off fiddling. Because the world does revolve around me, and the universe is geocentric....
Sjöröveren
I could swear that there was an old thread that was more or less an online workshop on sewing a short jacket. I've just gotten Kass' pattern, and since my sewing experience is virtually nil, I came here looking for help. So is my memory playing tricks on me, or was there a thread like this from a few years ago? the Fool's Gold Pirates

I think This might be the thread you are looking for... If you can't find what you are looking for you can always resurect one of the existing threads and ask if anyone here know how to help. I've made two of the coats (mine and Missions), and Patrick has made one (or more), and I have no doubt Sterling has a few under the belt as well. Patrick Hand
The link above is the one that shows how I drafted and made my slops contract jacket... The one I made is slightly different than Kass's pattern, Mine is a little longer, and the pocket flaps have more "scallop" I think there are three buttons on the cuffs on Kass's and only two on mine (well and mine isn't lined with wool cotton....) It's kinda interesting how similar they both are... well we did use the same picture to work from...... I used an old grey Navy blanket to make mine, I figured it would be close to Shrunk Kernsey..... But I didn't have any wool "cotton", so I cheated and used cotton, cotton.... Sjöröveren
I think the thread I had in mind was the one about making a justacorps. And, being in the Thieve's Market area rather than in Twill, I didn't find it until after my post last night. So it seems the "Short Jacket Construction for Dummies" thread exists only in my mind. Guess that makes me the latest in a long line of dummies. I may be asking some rather stupid questions in the days to come. Like, when Kass' pattern says "fold", does that mean I double over the fabric, aligned at the fold? Right now, I'm tempted to fold as in "throw in my cards and give up." the Fool's Gold Pirates
