I've been watching eBay for one of those little cheap chests to replace the little, sadly abused chest that I bought at a garage sale decades ago, when I came across this odd thing. It's apparently the prototype for a Disney pirate jewelry box due out in August. Disney seems to be running the auction, so I guess it's legit (hard to tell, though). What an odd thing! It combines the old skull and swords used in some of the 70's Disney POTC models (from the ride, I believe) with an ornate claw-footed bowl. A very odd mixture of styles...

Thought I'd throw this out there, We may attend a modest but fun Halloween convention(for lack of a better word) Vendors, demonstrations and a nice after-hours party that has come to be know as "the Weasel Ball" in Tell City Indiana. Never in the past 3 years has there been anything relating to Pirates or even Renn Fair, so... Anyone think they might be interested? I know it's a little short notice. ~B The Iron Hook

So I am sitting here, cutting out the lining for a 1706 pattern sailors jacket ( a short one with mariners cuffs) out of 100 year old hand woven linen that I will hand sew into the closest wool that I can find to Kersey wool (Its some antique wool that I found in a German Flea market), and I am thinking, "what would I pay for something like this?" I mean, we are living in the age of Walmart where everything at a low margin and the only way you make money is by selling THOUSANDS of them. We hate to pay more than $20 for a shirt to go to work in, let alone $100 one to use 5 weekends out of the year. I have probably spent 20 hours alone in researching and developing a pa…

Tall Ships of San Fransico® are a collection of 1,500 glass plate negative photographs not seen in over 130 years! In 2003 a discovery of historic proportions was made when 17 old wooden crates were opened for the first time in a century, and inside was the biggest story in west coast maritime history. None of these images have appeared in print until now. As we assemble the full history of this magnificent fleet of west coast built tall ships for an upcoming book, we are making a small number of prints available to the public. Ideal for home, office or on board decoration. Perfect art work for seafood restaurants! See our web site or full details: http://tallshipsofsanfr…
