We've been in business for 2 years as of July 1st 2004 when we were in the Heritage Flea Market. We're celebratin' by having a "Dress Like A Monster" contest. Also everything in the store will be 13% off and you get a free Non-alcoholic drink when you buy a Tiki mug. The store address is 127 3rd Ave SW, High River, Alberta, Canada. 652-5019. It's also Canada Day today and I think it will be interesting to see people dressed up like monsters today. I'm hoping it will make the papers. I'm also working with a friend to make a web site for Monster Hobbies. It won't have too much on it initially, but I am going to post all my remaining Polar Lights monster kits, Tiki mug…

I posted the following in a different thread a few days ago: I was sitting here with vanilla rum & coke in hand when the candle over my head* flickered to life. There's a whole bunch of creative people here who just might be able to render the above flag as a gif file, and, once a design is settled upon, there are others who might (for a fee, of course) be able to render the resulting flag in cloth. This one's a two-parter. One: I am soliciting volunteers to create a GIF of the flag described above. I'm not rich, so the winner of this part of the competition gets nothing but bragging rights. Since I use WebTV, I won't be able to right-click and save the winning d…

Hi, I am ready to purchase my first flintlock. I know some of these questions have been asked before and I did do some research here on the pub and found helpful advice but I need to know more. First let me say that I am a responsible adult who sfter buying the pistol would want to know the right way to handle, clean and operate it. I am sincere in my interest and hold a healthy respect for any firearms. To have a better understanding how it works and what would cause trouble in the future would a kit be better way to go? How complicated are they to put together if you have had no hands on experience with them? I've only read what I could. I've also found a black pow…

So, what do you wear on your feet if you don't want to wear shoes, don't want to wear a (improbable anyway) pair of floppy boots, and don't want to go the plastic flip flop route? Is there a period equivalent of sandals?

I've been looking for the past few months online for a non firing flintlock pistol, it'll be my first. I finally found and fell in love with one, however; have yet to buy it. While looking around for better prices, I recently saw a picture of this one with an orange tip. I'm aware that by law most pistols require to have this, but I was wondering if it's just a cap, maybe it's painted on, or what? Though it's not a great idea, would it be able to dry fire? How much does it look like compaired to the picture? (I've noticed in some pictures the wood is rather bright, I like it dark) And does anyone know of a place that sells it under $44? If anyone has a review on …

I have contacted a shoe manufacturer (in Canada) who can make a Straight lasted early 18th Century shoe. His claim is that he can make a Sarah Juniper Shoe at a C&D Jarnagin price. If you would like to see some shoes from these makers, go HERE These shoes would be mostly machine stitched but vegetable tan leather and all the correct details for the period. Cost would be $135 (without buckles) and would be paid half upfront and half at delivery. we would need 30 orders to move ahead.... anyone interested? GoF

Kass, and anyone else who knows, What kind of stitch was used to topstitch around pocket flaps and other sewn-together pieces? Or were they topstitched at all? My friend put together a waistcoat for me and told me I will need to topstitch around the pocket flaps, down the front, etc. He just suggested a running stitch -- one row. Is there a different stitch or anything I should consider instead that would be authentic? Thank you in advance. Tar Bucket Bill [definetly a novice when it comes to sewing]
