Though the game of Skittles has been around since the 3rd or 4th century in Germany, there are several different various games/rules depending on the region of the United Kingdom. The most popular version of Skittles, however, is West Country Skittles. Where 9 skittles (pin) are arranged in a square at the end of an alley that might be 24 feet, sometimes much longer. Each turn starts with all the skittles standing and consists of three balls being rolled down the alley. If all the pins are knocked down, then they are reset. So the maximum score in one turn is 27. Here is what I've found for the 'Basic' rules of Table Skittles: Step 1 Set up the game by placing the…

Since there isn't a 'for sale' area in the AIR SHIP PIRATES section, I'll post this here... I've come across a small amount of lenses. Something to replace the dark lenses in a pair of welding goggles, or whatever. Clear, polarized lenses, 2" in diameter, 3/16" thick. I would think selling them in pairs would be the thing. Price? What sounds fair? PM me for details...

fellow sewers.......... got a weird question for you.......... since wool only stretches one way, when you cut 'on the grain' / going with the grain for a sleeve, when you get to the top of the sleeve to fit into the arm hole, there will be quite a bit of stretch.... considering that the sleeve for many jackets of this era ARE CURVED, what do you all find your fabric ends up doing where you have obviously have end that are so near the BIAS of fabric??????????????? should one place it on the fabric so that the TOP of the sleeve that will insert into the jacket IS CUT ON THE GRAIN? { and care little for the rest of the sleeve being cut on the grain? i…

Anyone have any good leads t' offer for those o' us seeking good Leather, raw hide, I be speaking 'Vegetable Tanned Leather" mates? I know some o' th' populars such as: Eleather, Standing Bear's Trading Post, Springfield Leather (got some scraps there once), Tandy Leather Factory. But most have very limited selection of Vegetable Tanned leather and most carry mostly full sides what can get rather expensive if ye only be wanting t' make a pouch or dagger sheath. Currently what I be seeking is a scrap (for at this time I can NOT afford a full side) of Vegetable Tanned 7oz no less then 28 inches by 6 inch. I seek ONLY Vegetable tanned for I intend t' boil it (part of a h…

Not to be confused with arse and all. Here are a few of my happy acquisitions. My bearded axe made by a man named Wolf. I carved the knotwork in a rough celtic style to give the axe an overall antiqued appearance. Here is a detail of the same piece. These are two of 8 knives that I have acquired from my friend Big Mike. The smaller "Trade Knife" is my most recent addition. Drat I spelled arsenal wrong.

I have a beat up old ruff (stained and difficult to get on) and I might need to take a new role as a Spanish gentleman. I'd like to buy a ruff. Any suggestions of a good vendor? I'm not too handy with a needle and thread.

Ahoy mates! I be havin' a foine flintlock pistol [repro o'course, not havin' enough coin fer a real piece], but after carryin' the bloody thing all day tucked in me belt, I find a dark brown stain on me shirt. Now normally I could care less, be me lady insists on washing me shirts. Since it seems to be the pistol that is causin' this stain. How do I keep it from doing that. I don't want to dismantle it and painting with shellac something is not allowed in me cabin. Ideas anyone???

I am looking to start getting my kit together - and utilizing the patterns (and linen stash!)I already have. I am going to be getting patterns for stays as the patterns I have (and made) are Elizabethan and Rev War as well as the Mantua. From what I have seen, the shifts are about elbow length? I have a French Canadienne (1740-1760) pattern from La Fluer de Lyse which has about elbow length sleeves and a rounded, ungathered neckline. Would this work? Also, on the petticoats, are they hemmed or finished with tape? Also for the waistband of the petticoats are they two pieces where the back ties in the front and the front ties in the back? Or is it a solid waistband …

Might not be totally period... don't know. But it's awefully close to a couple of period writing desks. For those of you who may want it. Found this while googling for images of a ship's log and found this desk: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Ships...99/product.html Rather decently priced really. ~Lady B

I was looking around online and found a vendor with some interesting neckerchiefs. They are a lovely calico blockprint but I was wondering if any of them might be fairly close to GAoP style calico. The Silly Sisters You'll have to scroll down a bit to find them but there are several to choose from. Thanks for the time.
