Greetings all... Got A question. I received an e-mail at my GoF site from some enthusiastic Italian Pirate re-enactors that are really interested in going to the US to participate at a Pirate event and are looking for a "recommended" event. So.... what should I recommend? Gasparilla? Pirates in Paradise? any suggestions? I would think that one of the larger events with lots going on would be the best.... probably not a small town, 12 pirates show up, kind of event. GoF PS I am sure they are all hunky Italian men... and will probably need some body to show them around....

I really need to update my pirate site as its grown unwieldy. I am trying to make the transition from a cobbled together HTML nightmare, to a smooth flowing easy to update site done in CSS. The end result is that the appearance and potentially flavor of the site is changing at the same time... I am not sure if its for good or ill, and would like some opinions. Here is the old http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/gofindex.htm and here is the NEW http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/ I would like to think that I have a tough enough skin to handle all comments, so please, if you have some time, take a look. (so far, the changes only affect the front page) Thanks, in adva…

I was looking over Roy the Odd's Cutlass Resource post. The question came up about what do all of the pyrates out there prefer. We all know real pirates favored the gun, but what about us. What say you?

In the town of St. Michaels, Maryland, the local library will be holdin' a celebration of the tales of James Michener, and my husband is asked to prepare a presentation of pirate's lore relating to Michener and his famous book "Chesapeake." Does anyone have any stories they can share of Chesapeake rogues (be they ladies or gents) that the kind folks here might be interested in? Thanks for any input. Capt. Pete's Mistress

Okay you have 30 minutes at a childrens event to discuss the life of pirates. Basically showing the difference between the Hollywood image and reality. What facts would you work in? I actually am in the process of putting a presentation like this together and could use all the help I can get :)

Ahoy good scalawags and lasses, Newcomer to the pub and glad to be here. Looking to meet others who enjoy good ale in their stomachs and living their lives upon the Open Sea. A lover of music of all types, collector wouldn't even barely begin to describe it. I enjoy a good story and even more a better Shanty. But enough chatter *places coins on the table and nods to barkeep* Some of your best rum if ye wouldn't mind? Cheers Mates! Cyanne

Hello all from the new lass tot he forums. I may be new to the forums, but ne'er to the sea. Well I'm Elle the Welsh Tart and I live outside of Baltimore, MD. I originally hail from Tampa, Fl home of Gasparilla. I grew up on the Gulf of Mexico and have been on a tug that pulled the Jose Gaspar into port for invasion. Salt water is in my blood and I will be a pirate till the day I die. To give a little more info about myself, I am currently studying to get my degree in Socio-Cultural Anthropology. I plan writing my Master's Thesis on how the Golden Age of Piracy has shaped modern society into what we see today. Yeah I know I'm weird. Well enough about my own personal …
