Ahoy mates, I would like to introduce myself as the wench FLmermaid. My captain and I make berth in Florida on our 41 foot Morgan sailboat. We are new to the pirate festival circuits but loved Pirates in Paradise '07 and Pyratecon in New Orleans. We've enjoyed the company of many new mates and look forward to PIP '08 and Tybee Island this fall. We plan on sailing into St. Augustine port and anchor off of the fort mid-June to enjoy the "Bilge Rats". I just wanted to say hello and hope to meet others in Florida who sail under the Black Flag. ...and Black Rory enters the tavern. He looks a bit tired and ragged, constantly avoiding the Royal Navy, but glad to be back to what is the closest thing to home. In the sack over his shoulder are his pennywhistles, his ukelele, his squeezebox, his clacking bone sticks... The landlady is surprised to see him and stops wiping the counter. He looks back at her expectantly with fear and hope. She gives him a warm smile. "Is she still here?" asks Black Rory. "Was she taken from me? I know she's not that fond o' the sea like me'self..." The landlady answers, "Not over me dead body. She is safe and has been waiting for your caresses." "And what of the sword-wield…

A statuesque lass enters the pub with some trepidation and is greeted by the sociable barkeep whose efforts far exceed the necessity of his position. “Wat’ll it be lass?” he promptly asks as his rag sloshes past her and puddles the leavings on the bartop. The stranger scans the room but she evades an immediate reply. “Yer new ‘ere” the pub’s purveyor declares scanning her well crafted wardrobe for means to pay. “Aye, goode sir,” sheepishly comes her reply “Fearghaill . . . Aurora Fearghaill, ya may know mah ’usband. . . Alder, tha carpenter?” With a grin, a nod, Ray asks again, this time in a gesture of open hand across to the offerings that line his shelves. Som…

http://lamag.com/featuredarticle.aspx?id=7016 I'll be honest: I didn’t follow all the Disney rules. I played Jack like he was real, and if a woman flirted, I would flirt back. Women loved it. But there were also women who would have too many beers at California Adventure or smuggle in alcohol you could smell on their breath, women who were clearly sloshed. Here’s a napkin someone wrote on for me: “I will give you a xxxx xxx on your break, so sexy! Kim—714-XXX-XXXX.” I would also get offers from women in my ear: “Anything you want, just find me.” I had a girl who had turned 18 the day before. She was with a high school group, and she wrote down her room number at the Dow…

I travel to a lot of reenactments, but I don't go to very many pirate festivals/ren fairs. I know there are more differences than just the clothes. At most events there's an admission fee, no matter how you're dressed. If it's a camping event, there may be a camping fee and if you're selling there, you might have a vendor fee. I run a pirate event and the state sponsorship has been, shall we say "borrowed" by our fine governor to put into roads. (How far is $1000 going to go to repairing roads? It would be put to better use paying for a pirate weekend!) So what I want to know is: What are the highest and lowest camp fees you pay and of what type? For example: As a…

Ello mates, as the titel says, I'm new to the pub. I've been a member of keeptothecode for a little while now and learned about this place from my friend Nick. Anyway, my name is Janty, but my friends call me Jants and I'm a costume/prop maker and most recentely put together a Sparrow costume. I posted some pictures in the "Raid" section, but learned that I should come to this section and say ahoy! Here's some pics and pics of my first real pirate event are in the other section mentioned earlier. Cheers! Pictures of who I am and the work I've done are below my signature, feel free to friend-request me, I won't bite... much.

after posting a few questions and being pointed to previously posted info , i started to realize something. i would read beforehand to see if the topic was covered. finding none ( sometimes i miss one ) , i would post the question only to discover that it has been covered. but here is the grand revelation..... those posts do NOT show up on the board for some wierd reason, and are archived elsewhere. this is when the search function can be used. i have tried to find the threads that i am given links to, but they are not there. they only show up if i do a search. are they archived , and the board only shows the most recent posts ?? may sound dumb, but so…

Ahoy Mateys! Just want to say ahoy to everyone. I've been a member forever, but never posted anything- and I figured now was a good time to rectify that situation. They call me the Pilsner Pyrate, in honor of two of me great loves in life- beer and pirating lol. I be a charter member of the Pyrates of the Gulf Coast out of Bradenton, Florida. I've been with the Krewe since it started, and was with another Krewe prior to that... been pirating about 12 years now. That's about it for now. The Florida Heritage Festival Grand Parade is this weekend, and I probably should get finished prepping for it, before the pre-parade party Friday night. Thanks fer havin' me aboard!

Well kids, I'm back! We took over 700 hundred pictures before the picture card in the camera was filled up and we didn't have another camera card to put it, so Boats was taking pictures with his cell phone camera. What an incredible time, from the day we left to the day we came home we got to see things we would have never seen had we not gone. Pyrate Con was outstanding! I don't know the official count of how many 'paid' pirates there were, but there certainly were plenty there who didn't pay at the con - names not to be mentioned ...ever. The parade on Saturday of the con was 4 blocks long and the streets and balconies on Bourbon Street were filled with people. What …

We are complimented and very humbled by your review BilgeMonkey.... Thanks so much mate! From every member of the New Providence band (most especially the HARP player who is posting this on every venue he can find.....) Genre: Traditional and traditional-styled origninal pirate tunes. Rating: PG Target Audience: Late teens to early retirement Down Among the Dead Men - the first album by Pirates of New Providence - hits the ground running with its initial track, Fire Maringo. Being a traditional song, I've heard it performed before, and have never really given it much thought. But the Pirates of New Providence make it a tough song to dismiss. Strong, clear vo…
