So driving home this evening I was rear ended... But I am perfectly fine and unhurt... But I was hit hard enough to rotate my vehicle 180 degrees so I ended up facing the vehicle that just hit me. I was stopped on the freeway as traffic had backed up trying to get off on an exit. The girl that hit me claims she swerved to miss a vehicle that cut her off in the next lane and hit me at close to freeway speeds... She had hit her breaks, but I only heard a half of second of squeeling tires before I was hit, so she probably didn't get slowed down much by her breaks before impact. As a precaution the wife took me to the Chiropractic centre where she used to work (and her mom …

Well met! I stumbled upon yer forum following the trail of a felt hat. I live in the island of Puerto Rico in the caribbean, and I have an unhealthy interest in pirates. There are old spanish forts still standing in the island. Most of them actually repelled pirate raids (you can see the cannon balls wedged on some of the walls). Unfortunately, modern Puerto Rico doesn't concentrate too much on pirates, but we are looking forward to change that! My interests are many, but chief among them is making stuff! I would like to take advantage of the knowledge contained in this forum to keep on learning. In exchange for your knowledge, I offer the same in return. I have s…

Today, I got laid off from the job that I had hoped would take me into retirement. I loved the work -- what pirate wouldn't love making maps, right? But our bread & butter work was highway construction and land development, and both have been hit hard by the economy. So today, there were massive layoffs. Our office in Colorado was closed completely. Here in Minneapolis, we lost 15 out of about 30. Three left in my department, which until today had 10 people. The people who were left seem to think its just a matter of time before everything goes. And the hell of it is, I can't really get too mad about it. This was the best-managed company that I had ever worke…

Hey, all. Some of you have noticed that my post rate has been down quite a bit lately, that I went missing there for about a month. Well it seems I was busy trying not to die. The short of it is that I had my appendix removed at the ripe old age of 51. Indications are that it should have been done at 50. I am recovering. The long version is that my appendix didn't go down like a normal appendix where the victim gets excruciating pain in the lower right abdomen, goes to the hospital, has it removed and is back on the street two days later and to work a few days after that. No, mine had been chronically infected for anywhere from eight months to a year, the infection s…

We reside in the historic Bethel, Missouri. A quiet little town where the nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The nearest 'shopping center' is an hour away. We spend a large amount of time traveling. Selling and producing quality items for historic re-enactors has been our livelihood since 1974. We have participated in events across the nation. We have a vast inventory but have started to put a portion of it on http://www.crantespost.com/main.sc Visit My Website

Aye, here I am back in the presence of me good friends, and by the way of doing a little trolling in the shadows, I could see many new names and faces in this beloved Pub. No grand introduction here. No false pretenses or trickery of any Colonel Walker the pyrate hunter or Mogadisho Ahmed (can't recall the exact name) of the modern Somali pirate recruiter. Just yer humble pyrate Blackfoot toasting you all with me fond memories and some good times. Cheers!

Sorry for not being around as much or prolific as I have been in the past. I've been busy getting ready to graduate and get out into the job sector, which as ye all can believe has kept me running in circles. Anyway, I am writing to say that the madness is nigh over, an I will be back running amuck again soon.

Hi- I'm new to the forum, and I'm wondering about garb. I see there is a schism developing between authentic historical re-enactors, and Hollywood pirates. I've been lurking in the pub for a while, trying to do some research and am in the process of putting together my new outfit. I've got some ideas, some new skirts and bodice, and weathering them and my weapons appropriately. My garb is a combination of both, I try to have a foot in both camps shall we say. I know that footwear is usually the last thing to be authentic..I have a pair of blundstone boots under my skirts, with buckles attached. You can't tell from a distance, but I'll hopefully have something a bit more…

Our good friend Edward Teach is back in the news! Nat'l Geographic News website has released some more photos of items found on the supposed Queen Anne's Revenge site (I say "supposed" because there are still some that are skeptical about the claim). Anyway, here's the link: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/20...eard-artifacts/

Since I just posted something regarding our good friend Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard, I thought I'd mention that the PBS series "Secrets of the Dead" is planning to broadcast a program about the Queen Anne's Revenge and Himself on April 22 2009. This *just* happens to be the day after my birthday, which is as close to Cap'n Teach himself giving me a present this side of Fiddler's Green.

Well it seems like the Crewe of The Sacred Heart is in rare form these days. I would also like to announce that my loving Johnny proposed to me and we too, shall be getting married. Not this year at PiP though. Sorry. I think my family would have me hanged if I went where most of them would not/ could not follow. :) My mother specifically said, my grandmother was NOT allowed to walk the plank. lol I think it would be great though. So as of now, we are looking at next year in the fall. :):):):):) Just wanted to pass on the love. Can't wait to see some of you at The Blackbeard Festival (that's right, we are going) and the rest.. there is always PiP! Love, hugs, and r…

Now, before I say anything else, I gotta say, I swear I used to be on here, but for the life of me can't remember what I may have signed on as, since it's been years. So I'm Ash, though most call me variations of Puppet, Puppy, Puppsypoodlywoodly etc. Been into pirates since I was very little, though when the first PotC movie came out I went fanatic for a bit (thats likely when I first found this place, if it is indeed the same), then kind of fell out of it since then. I've slowly been getting back into it, along with historical reenacting, steampunk, and all sorts of somewhat-related stuff. ....Short version: HI GUYS I'M NEW, NEXT ROUND'S ON ME :'D

Three Cheers to our very own Mae and Brig for winning 1st place in the Duets category at the Bay Area Ren Festival Bellydacncing Competition yesterday. Not only did the win in style, the did it AIRSHIP Pirate Style! It was a grand thing to see, and I only wish I had a video camera to capture it. I got some shots of the winning team after though... Mae receiving their award. Celebrating the victory at the pub after.
