Sorry for not being around as much or prolific as I have been in the past. I've been busy getting ready to graduate and get out into the job sector, which as ye all can believe has kept me running in circles. Anyway, I am writing to say that the madness is nigh over, an I will be back running amuck again soon.

Hi- I'm new to the forum, and I'm wondering about garb. I see there is a schism developing between authentic historical re-enactors, and Hollywood pirates. I've been lurking in the pub for a while, trying to do some research and am in the process of putting together my new outfit. I've got some ideas, some new skirts and bodice, and weathering them and my weapons appropriately. My garb is a combination of both, I try to have a foot in both camps shall we say. I know that footwear is usually the last thing to be authentic..I have a pair of blundstone boots under my skirts, with buckles attached. You can't tell from a distance, but I'll hopefully have something a bit more…

Our good friend Edward Teach is back in the news! Nat'l Geographic News website has released some more photos of items found on the supposed Queen Anne's Revenge site (I say "supposed" because there are still some that are skeptical about the claim). Anyway, here's the link: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/20...eard-artifacts/

Since I just posted something regarding our good friend Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard, I thought I'd mention that the PBS series "Secrets of the Dead" is planning to broadcast a program about the Queen Anne's Revenge and Himself on April 22 2009. This *just* happens to be the day after my birthday, which is as close to Cap'n Teach himself giving me a present this side of Fiddler's Green.

Well it seems like the Crewe of The Sacred Heart is in rare form these days. I would also like to announce that my loving Johnny proposed to me and we too, shall be getting married. Not this year at PiP though. Sorry. I think my family would have me hanged if I went where most of them would not/ could not follow. :) My mother specifically said, my grandmother was NOT allowed to walk the plank. lol I think it would be great though. So as of now, we are looking at next year in the fall. :):):):):) Just wanted to pass on the love. Can't wait to see some of you at The Blackbeard Festival (that's right, we are going) and the rest.. there is always PiP! Love, hugs, and r…

Now, before I say anything else, I gotta say, I swear I used to be on here, but for the life of me can't remember what I may have signed on as, since it's been years. So I'm Ash, though most call me variations of Puppet, Puppy, Puppsypoodlywoodly etc. Been into pirates since I was very little, though when the first PotC movie came out I went fanatic for a bit (thats likely when I first found this place, if it is indeed the same), then kind of fell out of it since then. I've slowly been getting back into it, along with historical reenacting, steampunk, and all sorts of somewhat-related stuff. ....Short version: HI GUYS I'M NEW, NEXT ROUND'S ON ME :'D

Three Cheers to our very own Mae and Brig for winning 1st place in the Duets category at the Bay Area Ren Festival Bellydacncing Competition yesterday. Not only did the win in style, the did it AIRSHIP Pirate Style! It was a grand thing to see, and I only wish I had a video camera to capture it. I got some shots of the winning team after though... Mae receiving their award. Celebrating the victory at the pub after.

I appreciate being notified of spam in the Crows Nest, but without a link to the piece of junk I can't start looking at every single thread to find it. I appreciate Silent's PM, but when I tried the link, I got nothing. I can only surmise it's been removed.

Her health hasn't been that great of late, but she still tries to keep active by being a volunteer at Akron City Hospital (Akron OH). I be thinking of printing out the congrats that I hope will pour in and giving them to her on her birthday, that she may see what jolly good swell fellas we pyrates are. Along with the usual flowers. The pain that I experianced prior to surgery is completely gone! I can walk normal and I have only a tiny bit of pain from the surgery...oh and the still numb foot. Went for my post-op check-up and even the doctor was amazed! So there will be no need for physical therapy or any kind of waist brace. The Doc said it's rare that a person would recover from such a surgery so quickly! He said everyone he'd worked on took months of rehabilitation and had lots of pain. I swear! I have no pain! Just a wee bit here and there! The fusion should heal in about six months and by eight months I should be completely complete! I tell you, I myself was ready for a long recovery and lo…

I'm not exactly sure that this is where I belong, but that's nothing new. I figure if there's a better place that you can steer me in the right direction. I'll start off by saying that I have a bit of an obsession (my wife's words, not mine) with pirates. I've never been to any festivals, gatherings, or anything else that involves dressing up or role playing/re-enacting/etc. I'm not opposed to it....especially if there's some good rum being passed around...but I haven't done it and I'm not really sure what is involved. Basically, I am just a guy in his mid thirties who may or may not be having some sort of early mid-life crisis. A couple years ago I was shopping for coi…

Ahoy to all. Apologies to all who have been wondering where I've been. My comp is in the shop getting fixed as it has unfortunately obtained at VERY nasty torjan virus (package as I call it since nigh 200 spyware, viruses, trojans, etc showed up). I'm at the local Library checking email swiftly. It will be a couple more days before I am back on... at least. I'm hoping I may be back online this weekend. Hoping is the key word. :::knocks on the wood of the Black Pearl::: Shall see th' lot of ye soon. ~Lady B

I'm the latest new guy in port. My wife and I went to our first ren faire and pirate festival last year. We live just North of San Diego. I have decided that I’m not much into the “ren faire look” and would much rather be a pirate. I have a bit kit of kit in progress. Linen shirt is finished and another in the works, poorly sized and constructed slops finished, new canvas trousers in the works, Fugawee buckle shoes, and a tricorn from Capt. Jack is on the way and a short jacket is also in the works (needing some button from GoF). I hope to meet some of you this coming year. We hope to attend Ojai and if there is a repeat of the festival in Vista we will be…
