I always fancied those beautiful Antique hand carved headboards and footboards for a bed and then throw a bunch of feather bedding on top with silks and brocades for top bedding and covers. Hmmm crystal chandalier with some drops of rubies and emeralds hanging from them. Hand carved armoire and dresser table with 2 small hurricane lamps with also some glass droplets and hand painted roses. A big chest in the corner with beautiful gowns and bustiers. One of those globes that opens up into a bar stocked with my favorite rum. Beautiful thick carved Persian rugs with pinks, creams, green and magenta. Ornate Iron candlebra in a corner. Sigh...well I think of more I will…

INTERNATIONAL THINKING AT ITS BEST! Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization? Answer: Princess Diana's death. Question: How come? Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whisky, (check the bottle before you change the spelling) followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles; treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines. This is sent to you by an American, using Bill Gate's technology, and you're probably reading this on your computer, that use Taiwanese chips, and a Korean…

I couldn't help thinking though, of the comparison between "Mary Anne" and "Ginger" of Gilligan's Island, and Kaylee and Inara of Firefly. (not that they are similar characters mind you, but there has always been kind of a "male" choice.... Mary Anne or Ginger? Kaylee is the home grown girl next door type and Inara is the Hottie "Dream" girl type.... So Question 1 Kaylee or Inara? (Ok.... DESPITE that fact that Inara has had... "professional" training!) Question 2 Ginger or Mary Ann? Anyone?

As most everyone here knows, I am an unabashed Star Wars fan (e.g., "nut"). Since Blackjohn was kind enough to start a thread for the Star Trek 40th Anniversary, I thought I would start one for Star Wars's 30th Birthday. Here are a couple of things I can share: - The Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena (Jan 1, 2007) will feature marching Stormtroopers and two Star Wars-themed floats - A big convention will be held in Los Angeles, CA (LA Convention Center) over Memorial Day Weekend. The original movie has become such a cultural icon. I see it parodied on countless cartoons that I watch with my kids, I hear tons of "I am your father" references, and more. It's kind o…

In a forum like this, I am VERY curious . . . In honor of the great ships of the seas, which would NEVER set sail unnamed, How many of you name your daily 4-wheeled transportation? We have 3 cars: Fenix-> MX-5 Miata (it has been reborn and brought back from the dead more than once) Flying Ocra-> green sedan (long story originating with my wife in college) Queen Anna's Revenge-> minivan, named by my wife Anna (I'm SURE ya'll get THAT one) Anyone else want to share? (or am I the lone nut)

A 2500-year-old mirror (worth 500,000 lbs) was being shown on a Chinese TV show. A model was holding the mirror when it slipped out of her hands and smashed on the floor. http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_21744...4421.html?menu= The owner of the mirror was in the front row and saw the whole thing. I would be ill.

I was listening to the music from Tomorrow Never Dies this morning and they hit a spot where the music was for a specific, bit part character. His name is Michael Byrne and he played Admiral Kelly. (I mentioned him in the I didn't know they were in that! thread. He was just right for that bit part. Who are your favorite bit part, almost unknown actors? (In case you need it, here's a link to imdb to figure out their name. )

THIS IS GREAT ! What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice? At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in m…

I saw this and thought some of it was pretty funny. Wired magazine asked a bunch of sci-fi writers to write a six word story. My favorite? "The baby’s blood type? Human, mostly." - Orson Scott Card You can see them all here: Wired 6 Word Sci-Fi.

I think an added feature for our profiles should be the male or female sign. We sometimes have been unsure of some people of what gender they are when they join. The names they choose make it a little difficult to figure out. But if the male or female sign was on their profile we'd all know right away what they are. What does everyone think of this idea?

I don't know how many of you have been following this story, but I have ever since I heard wind of it last week on the morning news. I have been following it by going to Newsday.com. Today they reported the last of the three dolphins died. 12 died and 8 where able to be shoed out to sea. I cannot believe in this day and age with so many rescue societies nothing was really done aggressively. I just wrote an email to Marineland Fl. I wonder if they will write back regarding the situation. Any comments on this topic?

Just spent the better part of the day on the lathe making Ocracoke, Cape Lookout, and Hatteras lighthouses. These are the popular ones in NC. Just wondering if y'all have a favorite lighthouse. Personally, I am partial to Ocracoke's 1823 lighthouse.

There is a possibility that I may be offered a new position at work... The Interview went well. The catch is, I would be placed with a person who is known for verbal abuse. He is on a final written warning but there still has been times he has gotten away with being offensive, and demoralizingly critical to his current co-workers... The Management seems to be just winking at the situation. So , My personal experience with this person has been painful in the past... I still pray for him and forgive him too. Nontheless, would it not be considered foolish to"voluteer to be placed in a dificult position" if I do take the New job? I would like to make the decision to take…
