I was thinking the other day as I was cleaning and organizing how much stuff I have. And since it is now the Halmark Season for their Ornaments I thought I would start a new topic. What do you collect? I have a few different things that I collect. My first passion of course is Halmark Ornaments..... Every year I put a layaway on at Halmark for all of the ornaments I want. Then the day after Christmas, my Dad and I, go up to the store and get the sales too. It has become a tradition for us to do this. So does any one else collect any memorabilia?

Sad news...Evel Knievel passed away today at the age of 69. He was a true American icon. I can remember thrilling to all of his exploits when I was a little boy in the 70's. He was one of my childhood heroes. Rest in peace, old friend. I will never forget you. "By MITCH STACY, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago Evel Knievel, the hard-living motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69. Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an inc…

http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-schedules/seri...0.25268.32074.x Bear Grylls travels through Panamanian jungle to find the Camino Real. He moves through some real crap. I was reminded of Lionel Wafer immediately. When Bear is in the Mangroves as the tide comes in, we get to see how deadly the challenges were that faced sea raiders when they went ashore.

I have had the pleasure of communicating with Captain Midnight through his mySpace email. I inquired about his absence. He has been very busy organizing his life and tending to family matters before he leaves the country. He has taken a job in Iraq and will be leaving early in January. He expressed his disappointment that life has caused him to fall behind in the orders for my forge "business" (read hobby that pays for his hobby). He reassured me that all orders will be filled "I will definitely deliver what I promised". He asked if I "would you be so kind as to ask our fellow Watch Dog crew members to keep me in their thoughts and prayers? I haven't had much time t…

Hey all, I thought I'd ask you guys this question because I look up to a lot of you and know alot of you are good people. I moved into a home through a friend, well someone who I thought was my friend. Said friend is renting and as far as I know there are only two people on the lease, her and her son. I've been living in this house which resides in Kirkland WA for the past few months, two or three give or take. There are four people living in this house including myself that are not on the lease and never mentioned to the landlord so I know she is violating her lease terms. Yesterday (yes thanksgiving) she told me to get out and said I only have three days. Three days i…

Happy Thanksgiving and Many Happy Blessings to All on this Special Day. May family and friends surround you on this day of giving Thanks. And may your the harvest upon your table be bountiful. He who thanks but with the lips Thanks but in part; The full, the true Thanksgiving Comes from the heart. ~J.A. Shedd As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy Ah! on Thanksgiving day.... When the care-wearied man seeks his mother once more, And the worn matron smiles where the girl smiled before. What moistens the lips and what brightens the eye? What calls back …

You may remember this thread from a few weeks ago, that one of our members has suffered a severe illness. It also has kept her from being eligible thus far for insurance coverage, so she has incurred a medical bill that is as financially devastating as the illness is physically debilitating. Since that happened, I've been thinking about what we can do as a community to step in when our institutions fail us. I for one would like to do something about it. A huge debt is insurmountable for one person, but it is manageable when shared by many hands. I know that there are many folks here on the Pub with hearts of gold, as we all saw when the Royaliste suffered a misfortune…

I remember as a 6 year old, I went to a school field trip to the Smithsonian institution in DC, Which I believe was the National Archives musem (or whichever the building that had this plumb-bob pendulum swinging acroos the floor knocking of some pegs lined upin a circle). Anyway, what I remember most, and what scared the living daylights out of me was a white bust on a roman column, with an Uncle Sam top hat. All of us students gathered round, then the face of the bust suddenly lit up, which was actually a front 16mm film projector illuminating a movie onto the bust, and it talked. Sooooo. ....naturally I am putting together something of a similar concept for the …

(Well, this used to be an old post on another message board I used to frequent years back. I figured since I rarely go there any more why not try to start one here?.) Feel free to tell us anything about your love ( or lack thereof) lives, be it good or bad. Perhaps we can use this as a means for 'guidance' for those who aren't quite so learned in the relationship business (me). ----------- There is this girl I work with, we flirt like no tomorrow, ha ha. So last Thursday I go up to her and ask her to a movie..she stonewalls the crap out of me and it ends in 'Go home Mike' ha ha I get quite the laugh about it now, but man that night wasn't so fun, especially since I d…

So my wife calls me from work and says that coworker just found a kitten in the Sam's Club parking lot and wants to know if we want to give it a home. Now, we already have two cats, so I'm hesitant to say yes, because I don't want to graduate to crazy cat people. Still, I tell her to bring the little mammal by and I'll see what I think. I'm an idiot. Kittens are evil fluff-balls of unholy cuteness. When did I become such a sucker? Anyway...long story short. I am officially a crazy cat person. Pyracy...meet Sam from the Sam's Club parking lot.

Heard about this on the radio this morning. Man, Ca. is really getting screwed by nature again this year! Hope all is well. I remember when I was out there on Treasure Island, a 5.6 wouldn't even raise the eyebrows on a local. Still, hard to imagine living under that threat constantly. We are still waiting on the old New Madrid fault to wake up and shake up here in the mid-west, but I ain't in any hurry! Bo

Hehe got a funny Haloween story? Here's one I just found Passengers on a German train mistook a Halloween reveller dressed up as a gore-covered zombie for a murder victim and called the police. The 24-year-old man fell into a drunken slumber on his way home from a Halloween party in Hamburg, Believing his hands and face were smeared with blood, passengers alerted police after getting no response from him. An EMS team soon cleared up the confusion. Police told the man to remove his make-up after which he was allowed to continue his journey. " Segeberg is in a rural area and Halloween isn't very well known there," police said. "People weren't expecting anyone to be…

(I got 1, 4 and 5 without looking at the answers. How about you?) 1. A man is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in three years. Which room is safest for him? 2. There are two plastic jugs filled with water. How could you put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug? 3. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it and gray when you throw it away? 4. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, W…

Since Halloween is this month it got me thinking: How many costumes do you all have, other than just pirate garb? Here's my list: 1) Supergirl 2) Alice in Wonderland-G-rated Disney version 3) Alice in Wonderland-Sexy version 4) Renaissance/Pirate Garb-Bodice, a variety of blouses, skirts, chemises and a pirate feathered hat and boots. 4) Vampire bride/victim-Long flowing nightgowns, cloaks/capes, robes, vampire fangs 5) Catwoman....kind of, but it really belongs to my guyfriend Wally. I gave my measurements for the costume tho, but it stays at Wally's house 6) French Maid 7) Sexy Devil 8)Elvira, but it's also been used for Morticia from Addam's Family…

I looked, but didn't see another posting such as this. A good friend of mine and my gun master is battling the fires, trying to save his home and equipment. His area was one of the first evacuated, but he went back to try and save his home. We haven't heard from him in over 24 hours. Please pray to whomever or whatever you believe that the winds and weather change. This fire is devasting the west coast pirate community. Your positive energy is greatly appreciated.
