I'm not really one to publicly ask for help but I think it's time I reach out to my pirate family and friends. As a few of you know, my father has congestive heart failure as has been in the hospital for a few weeks. Well, today we had to transfer him to a hospice facility. He is on comfort care only and isn't expected to live much longer. Please send your your thoughts and prayers his way to aid him in his passing. With gratitude and love to you all. Lily

I don't normally post these things but considering the forum and the fact that It appears to be true... There is a new warning put out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.... Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold Milk Chocolate coins are being recalled due to the fact that they contain Melamine, the ingredient in milk product that has caused many infant deaths in china. These candies are sold at Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar stores. please make sure to check your child's Halloween candy. http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/coins.asp

You all know I ain't a religious feller, and that I can be a real pain in the ass. Tonite we lost our dear freind and neighbor Cowboy Ken, a real true cowboy living his dream. he was riding this old paint that he was sure he could turn into a good horse, out with his sister. as i was typing here earlier, he was thrown and stepped on just down the road. Whe his sister came up screaming I ran down to where he lay, but he was already riding the high trail. My wife trains at his ranch and she is devastated. I ain't askin for me, but if you all have a moment to think of his family, I know they'd sure appreciate it. He was the best of us and never had a mean thought nor…

It was either count Skittles or M&M's or something of the kind, or come up with something on your own, sooo... I need to do a statistics project for my Math class and decided that I would do something nobody else was likely to. I'm trying to get 50 responses to the following question: How many events do you attend in an average year? (Don't need any details, just a number.) Thanks in advance! Bo

I'm not one to compliment people unless they really put forth a superior effort, but I must admit this one was pretty clever. I received this email this morning: And then there were a bunch of buttons to respond to the request or take action on it. All lead to a non-eBay website where the first thing you have to do (naturally) is log in. Your first inclination is outrage and to cry out for justice by responding to the request. Pretty clever. All the same, I reported it to spoof@ebay.com. Bloody pirates.

It's happened! It's a go! Whoo- hooo! My big news: Boats and I will be moving sometime in November if not sooner to our very own HOME! Yup, we bought a home in San Marcos, on the borderline of Escondido! Actually, it's a manufactured home in a Senior Park (55 and older), 2 bedroom, 2 bath, good sized kitchen, with a sun room, 1608 sq. ft. (the sun room is not included in that measurement -as it was put on with no permit). There is a wonderful view of the mountains and a great breeze comes through! AND, my friends Dawn (who I share a vendor booth with at the Escondido faire) and Tony live just up the hill off the same road- just a couple of minutes away! We are right …

You know, I really like the ninja guy. I can't for the life of me figure out what emotion he represents, but I think he's cool. (Given the inexplicable enmity that seems to exist between ninja and pirate fanciers, it's sort of an odd thing to even have around here. Yet I still like him. That's what you call ironic.)

(apparently I can't copy and paste this without the numbers... anyway, funny/stupid jokes about pirates if you find yourself bored and I mean REALLY bored, it's a long list. Found these as I search for more pyrate stupidity. Cheers) A pirate does not ask for directions. He relies only on his gut feeling, a compass, or a treasure map. Parrots are the preferred pirate companion. Monkeys are an acceptable substitute, unless they fling their feces at people. Then they are an awesome substitute. When fishing, a pirate uses either a sword, a knife, or his bare hands. Use of a hook is only acceptable in the event the pirate is missing a hand. Pirates shal…

I sort of watched it. I fell asleep during the first, and the second, but taped them. Son #1 watched them both and said they were good. But he is easy to please.

It has been two months since I last wore my pirates clothes. Considering the amount of feasting and drinking, and drinking... and drinking... that I have done since then, I'm sure I'll be in for a shock when it comes time to get dressed for the next event. (Mmm... rum belly...) Thus, in the spirit of threads long dead, I am creating the newest edition of an age old favorite, the weight loss thread. Here's my promise to you. Since coming to the pub is a treat, starting tomorrow, I will deny myself the pleasure of coming to the pub, unless I have done a minimum of 20 minutes excercise beforehand. The first place I post will be here, which should help me turn this int…

This post is for random thoughts. If you are having a good day, tell us about it. Bad day, make your complaint. If your pissed, happy, sad, whatever, talk to us. Who knows? There may be some sound advice from some of us if you need it. In my case, I don't need it but will voice my disgust about myself. So, I will start it off with my "complaint." I have been doing so good with my fitness and lost lots of weight...until today. I ate tons of food and I feel fat as a cow. The story of our lives during the holidays huh? I guess for Christmas day...I don't eat except for fruit. Nice....

I have about 20 17th century books in .pdf format that are not getting read because printing thousands of pages out seems wasteful and time-consuming. So I was eying the Kindle at Amazon... I found a free program that apparently converts .pdfs into Kindle friendly format, but I am wondering how well this works. Those books are hard enough to read already without additional problems with .pdf conversion. (Who the heck makes a paperless reading device that specifically doesn't support .pdfs? I ask you...) Any thoughts on the thing would be appreciated.

The incoming class of 2012 knows some of the following: 1. Jay Leno has been the only host of the Tonight Show. 2. IBM never made typewriters. 3. Pee-Wee never had a playhouse. Check out the others here -- goes back to the Class of 2000... http://www.beloit.edu/mindset/2012.php -- Hurricane

While reading the Pub (Beyond Pyracy section) this morning, I saw "Doc" had posted something on the Bannerman's Island/Pollepel Island on the Hudson River. Growing up in New York for most of my life, and my Father from the Albany area, I grew up hearing tales of local lore and legends. Some of these tales have been made famous by Washington Irving. With Halloween just around the corner, I picked up a book called, " Myths and Legends of Our Own Land Vol. 1". These are tales of the New England/Delware area from the early settlement times. This book mentions Bannerman's/Pollepel Island and the awful Heer of Dunderberg, not to mention the Flying Dutchman, which like many…

Was out shooting with the new Canon and went to the river for some shots. Bannerman's Island "Castle" actually it belonged to one of the first "Army - Navy" store owners in the state. He started reselling stuff left over from the Civil War and went from there. Built this place to store his merchandise and he also had a house on the island. The River Valley looking south. Around the bend to the right is West Point.

Well, I had put off having the heart catherization...then my mom had problems, had to call the squad for her then as I was closing up the house got a sharp pain. By the time I got to hospital I was sweating and had the dry heaves. It kept getting worse so decided I best be checked out too. Make a long story short, they did a CT on m'heart. They said they found something strange they thought they found a ulcerated area or a small dissection in my aoreta. I was told this was highly unusual and possibly wrong though I was told to contact my doc. That was a couple of weeks ago. I really didn't think it was serious as the ER doc stated he had never seen anything like …

Ahoy, folks. I've been safe running Firefox with a script wall, but folks running IE have been catching trojans off https://pyracy.com/forums/ - I don't know whether it's been hacked into the page script, or by way of the embedded adverts. Just something to beware and be aware. I've few details except that the problem has completely shut down the machine, has come via IE, and has made it past Avast virus security; also of course that it came straight off the main page.

My better half Sjöröveren is having gastric by-pass surgery this morning. The lads and I are in the waiting room now, but the word is so far so good. I would appreciate prayers and positive thoughts for a successful outcome and a speedy recovery. I'll keep you posted to his condition. Thanks, mates!

I was taking the evil puppy to the river for a swim to burn off some of his energy and happened to spy my former place of employment. The "Pride of the Hudson" is an 88' dinner cruiser that plys the Hudson River between Westchester County and Dutchess County. Looks like it was on a regular sight-seeing run (no wedding type decorations visible). For three years I was Deck Boss/Second Officer until the owners kid took over the operation and became a raging tool to work for.
