I hope this is where I should put this thread as it seems the most suitable for my request. Would the mods be so kind as to consider the possibility to add a Pirate Banter and Insult forum. Not a place to just be a jerk but a place to better ones skills at the art of bantering. Nothing is worse then being face to face with a pirate and have no other abilities then to stare blankly as they cut you by a razor sharp tongue and wit. I find it just as essential as learning sword play and small arms in today's pirate world. This forum would be the place for all to vent on the willing instead of blind siding the innocent. Also would serve as a good ranting forum for any a…

Afternoon all! With the holiday approaching, I've been wondering about period ghost tales and such. Anyone know any good legends of ghosts or warlocks from the colonial days and such. Spooks, ghouls, fantoms and highwaymen??? Help a fella out?! Rats

I think there was a thread waaay back on this but I couldn't find it. Anyway, got a favorite story to tell from an event? I'll start, as i am well on my way to a rhum induced trip down memory lane... I was doing my fire-starting/bullet casting/flintlock demos several years back. I give kids a musket ball for a keepsake. On the second day I was bent over the fire preparing for the days event when all of a sudden the sun eclipsed and the voice of "God" came resonating through the air: "Are you the one that gave my kid a bullet?" I swallowed hard and began to prepare myself to face my end. as I stood up and turned to face the biggest man I have ever seen, I mustered a…

PRODUCE THE NOTE. ABC news has found out that if you file at your court papers requiring the mortage company to produce the orginial note that you signed they must find it. According to the news story by Diane Sawyer, many times the note has been sold and resold to a point that they have lost who actually owns the note. This means all proceedings to forclose must be put on hold until they do the paper or electronic trail to produce the note in court. This may give you enough time to get things worked out many times it will forstall proceedings for months. Because the banks will go after those most at risk and leave those asking to for notes to be produced to othe…

Once upon a time as these tales go ... February is getting busy here at Anchors Aweigh Charters. The first week of February bought us Mike & Marc, two long time fishing buddies. They gave us permission to put Marc's letters to us on this blog. I'll let Marc do the talking: Marc's application letter- To The good folks at Anchor's Aweigh: I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you on behalf of the disabled people that still enjoy fishing, but have too many obstacles to pursue this activity. Back in 2004, my friends and I met in Miami for a fishing trip. As fate would have it, the following February I had an exacerbation of Multiple Sclerosis which has …

Got a bug in my head and went scrounging up terms of service today and found some little not pleasant gems in Facebook. But here it is cribbed from the Facebook Terms of Service on my own account. So those of you who do anything interesting and also share it on Facebook be aware of some changes in the terms. What ever you put on Facebook becomes their property forever. This is a pretty abrupt change from the standard social networking terms where what you post is usable by them until you unpost it but never their property. This isn't the entire Terms of Service but the parts that I found particularly disturbing....

Conspiracy theory????? A plane leaving the New York area crashes into the Hudson, but not a single other plane crashed into the Hudson that day. The guy who landed the plane, this guy Sullenberger, just happened to be a pilot. We've all heard of American Airlines, but US Airways? Before the landing, passengers heard four loud booms coming from the right engine. You know what else makes boom noises? Police Academy's Michael Winslow. Where was Michael Winslow that day? And, while we're at it, what happened to the guy who played Commandant Lassard? The Hudson just so happened to be full of water, making the landing feasible. A little too convenient? One engine was stil…

So I am reading my Lifespan Psych book (a class I have to take and therefore was determined to hate but find I am actually not hating quite as much ad I'd hoped) and they had a special section on Imaginary Friends. To wit, "The prevalence of imaginary companions may be greater than one might have guessed. Although not all children who have imaginary companions will disclose this information to adults, some studies have shown that as many as 65% of young children have imaginary companions, and some children have more than one. (Singer & Singer, 1990)" (Development Through Life: A Psychosocial Approach, Newman & Newman, p. 206) Blah, blah, blah. I thought it was i…

This was sort of interesting - it's a test to see what sort of career paths you might enjoy using nothing but colors. The concept seems a bit sketchy. The results had some good points and some bad ones for me. I'll trim all the career suggestions they gave me so as not to needlessly fill the screen with junk, but my results came up as: "Best Occupational Category: You're a CREATOR Key Words: Nonconforming, Impulsive, Expressive, Romantic, Intuitive, Sensitive, and Emotional" Uh, only the first and fifth words seems appropriate to me. Of all the things I am not, romantic, sensitive and emotional are probably near the top of that list "2nd Best Occupational Categor…

A Donation From The Heart Written by: Steve Yablonski www.oswegocountytoday.com 2/4/2009 OSWEGO, NY – For the better part of his life, Andy Pawlenko used his talents to help others and bring joy into their lives. The well-known bluegrass musician of Hannibal lost his battle with prostate cancer in September 2007. He was just 74. Deanna Hubbard presents a donation to Dr. Jonathan Wright, left, and Steven Thomas. She raised the money through sales of a CD she created of her late father's music. The funds will benefit the Charlie and Mary Haney Cancer Giving Fund of Oswego County, which helps cancer patients. Thanks to his daughter, his spirit of giving lives on and his…

Here's the story from MSNBC: By Mitch Stacy TAMPA, Fla. - Deep-sea explorers who found $500 million in sunken treasure two years ago say they have discovered another prized shipwreck: A legendary British man-of-war that sank in the English Channel 264 years ago. The wreckage of the HMS Victory, found below about 330 feet of water, may carry an even bigger jackpot. Research indicates the ship was carrying 4 tons of gold coins when it sank in storm, said Greg Stemm, co-founder of Odyssey Marine Exploration. So far, two brass cannons have been recovered from the wreck, Stemm said. The Florida-based company said it is negotiating with the British government over collabor…
