I am excited to become a "bornagain Pirate"! I'm in deep now.. my back deck area is turning in to a cool pirates cove that gives the feeling of "Pirates of the Carribean" as you enter at disneyland. We found a ships bell to put on the wall and even a cool little one of a kind cannon for display of course. lol. Our treasure chest showed up today. And it goes on and on... hope you-all having jolly time as this.

Took the weekend off with Madam Grace and we stowed away on board the F.D. Crockett. She is a 65 ft seven log buyboat built in 1924 to haul produce and goods up and down the Chesapeake Bay. Built in Poquoson, VA we headed south to serve as the flagship for their annual worboat races. Cap'n John turned the wheel over to me as soon as we left the creek, which floored the hell out of me. Just two pictures. one of me on the wheel and the other in the rack. yeah, plush accomodations. We made home in the cargo hold for the weekend!

I was looking up Mystic Seaport the other day. I got to wondering if any of you ever went there? How was the whole experience? From what is says it look like the perfect museum. We have been talking about what we would like to see in a pirate fair. This is what I mostly had in mind, just add sailors/pirates. Of course those sailors/pirates would have to know what they were all about. Just wondering what the rest of you all think?

While searching for events, I found this cool link to a visitors experience in Sale'', Morocco... https://marocmama.com/pirate-adventure-in-sale/ Excerpt: Salé’s Bab Lamrissa stands at least thirty-five feet tall. This monumental gate dates to the seventeenth-century Republic of Salé. A city-state separate from Morocco, this small polity had been run by Corsairs, or pirates in Western parlance. I gaped up and up, soaking in the building’s historical import. I wondered how to fit the entire structure into a photo, without losing any of its sense of grandeur.

For those of you who have boarded a plane with period weaponry: Is it possible to just simply pack a blade in the bottom of your luggage to check in or do you need to fill out forms and paper work? What is required to travel by air with a weapon to attend an event?

So I have this opportunity to go to Manila and do some history snooping through a most bizarre set of circumstances that came about this week. For those of you who don't want to read the intrigue and adventure (so to speak) of how this came about, I am looking for info on what might be interesting in the GAoP sense in Manila. For those of you who like a yarn, settle back in your easy chair. I read this newspaper called Investor's Business Daily that has a page called "Leader's and Success" every day. On Monday last, they had an article about a spy in the WWII named Claire Phillips. Manila was a location where we got our behinds handed to us; it's right near the site of …

I was just wondering, for you folk who know England better than me (ie anyone who's been there or knows a bit about it), what interesting 'must see' nautical sites are there in England? I'm planning a trip out there in March, and have pegged some of the obvious ones, such as the National Maritime Museum, the HMS Victory, Tower of London, and the Cutty Sark. I'm only going to be there a week, and am probably going to stick around London and Portsmouth for most of the time, with the slim possibility of headin' out to Southern Scotland to see a friend. As I've never been there I don't really know much of what to see. Are there any major things I'm missing relating to pyr…

Since some of us have had the pleasure of crewing on this beautiful ship (and firing cannons at landlubbers from her deck), I'm starting a topic so that those of us who have been sailing on her can talk about the experience and share photos. She has been built over the past thirty-five years by Hayden Brown. He built most of her himself (although he admits that he had to buy the lines, sails and engine.) I've had the pleasure of being part of her crew for the past five years, including taking part in multi-day, off-shore sails.

I will be heading down to Charleston (or Charles Town for you hysterically historical folks) next week. I have much planned to see/do, but can anyone who's been there or who lives in the area recommend some good pirate-related tours, stops, etc.? Thankee.

Last night my mate and I took advantage of the Village Community Boathouse. This non-profit is based on pier 40 off of Clarkson and W Side Highway in the Village. On T and Th evenings they provide a free after work adult program of novice to experienced rowers on 25-foot Whitehall gigs (also have masts for sailing). You can also go out on Sat late mornings to afternoons. Tomorrow is National Learn to Row Day so if you are in the NYC area- they are running a special program during the day! In addition, all the wood boats they use are built in their learn to build a boat class ( i think it is the New School). -- As for my experience last night. Rowing, or all athlet…

this is the forum for vacation spots right?? well I direct your attention to Guam. its around 80 degrees+ year round. water is teeming with fish for the scuba divers. you dont need a wetsuit either. lots of WW2 history. Low crime rates. its a US territory so no passport is required. Now for a tidbit of info you wont find on any travel brochures, more for the guys or perhaps some of the ladies. Guam is like Japan's Las Vegas. IE what happens in Guam stays in Guam. A LOT of japanese college girls fly down for the weekend basicly with a mattress on their looking for someone to do the horizontal mamba with, only to fly home on Sunday night to be Good little schoolgirls…

I am currently in charge of planning a trip to Orlando for myself and [Mundane] parents/grandparents, and have an interesting question that possibly someone in Orlando may be able to answer. The primary purpose of the trip is to go to Disney World, however one of the things I'm thinking of is to spend one of the evenings there at the Pirate Dinner Theater, and not at Disney World. I've been to some other renaissance/medieval dinner theaters, and some of them frown on guests coming to the venue in garb, which others havn't had a problem. I tried to send them an email which didn't recieve an answer, so I'm going to post here: Does anyone know if the Pirate Dinner Theater…

Just got back from a cruise in the western Caribbean. We set sail from Tampa (home of the Buccaneers!). Made port in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Belize City, Belize. Had a great time. Got to swim with STINGRAYS! in Grand Cayman and with some other fishes in Cozumel. Met an ol' mate in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Here's a pic: Broadside
