Stynky Tudor
Arr Paisley, I already tried to tell her that meeting up with us be more important than seeing her family, but she would buy it. I mean she's already spent many a year with them already you would think they could do without her for one day...

Stynky Tudor
Lady Isabel...who's gonna fair 'er wrath? Paisley, sorry to leach your topic title and duplicate the concern from your post and conversation with O'Malley about Isabel and the Maryland Pirate Invasion, but I think it applies to anyone planning to attend this event. Does anyone know what's likely to happen if Isabel touches land around the Carolinas and works her way up the coast? I assume it's all going to be over before the week-end. But then again, I haven't been living on the East Coast that long. I know, I'm showing my ignorance here.
Hawkyns
Now that's a damn fine question. If Izzy takes the track the weather guessers say, it will go nearly straight over the faire site. I've got a hotel in Laurel for Friday and Saturday that doesn't require cancellation until day of arrival. Probably make my decision about Friday afternoon. I've never been to this faire. Are the buildings sturdy enough to take weather? Strikes me this will be a last minute call on whether to sail or not. Mad Woman Cheryl
Well, we got the Bay to worry about. Izzy will probably hit the east coast, work it's way over across the eastern shore and then hit the Chesapeake Bay. Buildings should be able to withstand , most have been standing since they moved to this site about close to 20 years now. The real major worry is MUD. There are no paved paths and some paths are gravel and stone. From the way things look, the weather looks great for Saturday. Maybe we will be lucky and the storm will hit South Carolina and go inland from there. There is also the chance that if it hits South Carolina, it still may ride up the coast. We are still a go and will be watching the weather channel closely, and praying for Izzy to bust up before she reaches us. Mad Woman Cheryl By Odin's mighty spear, I hereby snap and go berzerk!!!" Hawkyns
Well, things are looking up a bit. Izzy's down to a cat 2. Track puts her landfall in NC then north by a point or two east. Should be north of the faire site by midday Friday or before. Good weather forcast for Saturday. So, if all goes as predicted, and there isn't too much damage, I'm still on for this. Is there any way to find out if the faire decides to shut down in the aftermath? Too many tourists might get scared of a bit of mud and want to stay away....... Capt. Flint
If everything goes as the weather man says.... than all will be over before sat. Fair should have no problem and we still are planning on being there. As well as seeing as many as possible at our place later. The Capt.
Hawkyns
Lookin' forward to it, Cap'n!! Say, is this show a cutlass and blades only place or are belt pistols permitted? Capt. Flint
You had better read the web page Hawkins...... There are NO weapons of any kind allowed. Not even theatrical . Just a reminder. Katey's pic is in the gallery. If anyone sees her at the opening, call out to us. Otherwise, we will try to meet everyone at the blacksmith shop. It is very easy to find. Either read the map in the hand bill or ask anyone. We are really looking forward to seeing you all. Flint
Paisley
i'm guessing you are not aware of how uptight & anal rententive the state of maryland (and virginia) is.... i copied this from their website (www.rennfest.com):  Please note and observe our rules of the village: No pets. No rainchecks. No weapons (costume or real). (which find funny because they sell weapons there!) Open from 10:30am - 7pm. We open rain or shine. For more information call 1-800-296-7304 but they offering plenty of free mud!!!! so far there is no mention of isabel on the website...i'm guessing everything is still on. looking forward to meeting some of you...just look for the pink pyrate with a cabin boy. yes, i'm not very historically accurate, but if i wanted that i would've stopped taking showers months ago....lol see ya soon! Capt. Flint
Paisly. they sell weapons at the fair, but, there is a catch. When you buy a weapon at fair, depending on what it is you buy, the vendor either holds the piece for you... wraps it up like you wouldn't believe so you can carry it around with you... or you are escorted to you vehicle where you may leave it. Trust me, they can get a lot more anal than that about stuff. But, the fair is pretty cool and a lot of fun with extremely few problems or accidents, due in part to these types of rules. Thanks for posting the tag line from the site, I hope it helps everyone.
