mcdrago Posted May 12, 2008 Share Posted May 12, 2008 M'Lady....I feel your pain. Several years ago, I watched in horror as a beta fish choked and died right in front of me. It wasn't until later I learned that the plant that sat in the water the he lived in was poisonious. I cryed for an hour over that silly fish. I swore I would never have another pet. So what happened? During a severe rainstorm 3 years ago, a baby kitten lay dying in our backyard....crying out for someone to save him. When my wife could take the cries no longer, she begged me to bring him in. I told her, that if I did, he could never go back. That she would be responsible for feeding, cleaning and taking care of him. She agreed and then I went and fetched in the dripping, almost dead kitten. He looked like a drowned rat. He could barely hold his head up to eat from a saucer of food that we had on hand when my sister tried to save another one the night before. He licked the food up and we knew he would live. He did and now who takes care of this beast? Me! Of course I grew to love the little monster and even though I know in my heart that sooner or later he will die, I will love him until he does. He loved my rings and would follow mymy hand and often would take food from my fingers. I had some help but for the most part I put it up twice at the faire and twice at home to dry it out. My shoulder twinges but mostly ok. Hey Lady if ye need help, we'll be there... our women are great at pitching tents while the men watch... Christine Posted May 19, 2008 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Trying really hard to not get sick. It's been such a long time I caught a cold. I can't even remember the last time I had one. Somehow I always avoided it while everyone around me got it. Well, I guess the law of averages is catching up to me. The one co-worker got really sick with the cold. I started with just a scratchy sore throat on Saturday. By Sunday I had a dry cough to go with it. I've been drinking only water, hell, that's all I pretty much drink anyway. I've been doing the airborne, I've been spraying my throat with those vick's sprays, taking ricolas for the pain, gargling with salt water. The cough this morning now is starting to get that sicky smell. Ugh! *drinks another airborne* I can still breathe normally tho, no stuffiness or runny nose. Damn, I really don't want this to get worse. Here's the sucky part, I'm off to work soon while dealing with this, ugh! Because of the one girl being sick, the other one worked a double this weekend. They didn't call me in only because I'm working right on thru the weekend to cover that girl's vacation coming up. I hope the day goes by quickly, I'm feeling a bit run down and want to stay in bed.
