Misson
Did anyone happen to come across a wee small blue notebook about 3" x 4"with a bunch of hastily scribbled notes on surgeon-barbers? I can't find it in my stuff and I'd like to re-organize and transcribe it. Mae
I ended up with one of Brig's buckled shoes, and two shifts when I went with just one. Normal
Well I found about a hundred bug bites (on me of course) *starts scratching one of them violently* OH but i did loose a silver ring with hebrew writing on it in the ocean. And was curious if it somehow it miraculously washed up on shore and someone found it? And thx Capt. for grabbing our coffee pot!! I'll see if we need it anytime soon (don't think so but). Misson
oh btw, Mission... for next year, you will need tons of bandages... so everyone that has scrap linen, please keep the good doctor in mind Why? Are you guys planning to have lots of accidents? Yes, strips of linen scraps (white or natural) will be much appreciated. Thank God Lily brought extra scraps this year or I'd have had nothing to work with. I will need at least two other people for the surgery schtick. One victim who with a shirt that can be soaked in fake blood and who is willing to have chicken duct taped to their person, and someone (or sometwo would be better) to hold the victim down (as well as operate whatever blood squirting devices we can come up with.) What do you guys think about some sort of stretcher type thing to carry someone off the field with? I saw they used boards in the documentary The Good, The Bad and the Ugly...(I really liked that surgeon character and used bits of what I saw there in my imagination in making this character.) and you also need to know how they treated drowning victims as CPR and mouth to mouth is out of the question.... What's so hard about that? The good surgeon looks around surreptitiously and then throws the victim over the side. Drowning victim problem solved. (I was captured against my will, you know. Not having a real friendly view of my captors...) Lily Alexander
(as well as operate whatever blood squirting devices we can come up with.) I believe something can be made using a swiffer mop mechanism. I think I have directions for conversion. Edit: I found the directions. http://www.instructables.com/id/Special-FX...g-Blood-Effect/ The good surgeon looks around surreptitiously and then throws the victim over the side. Misson
I'm not really the Mercury's surgeon. I'm an agent of the Archangel camp. Bond. Surgeon James Bond. Hey! I found out something for the three or four of you who remember the long, idiotic thread I created about this guy -> (Phydeaux the icon) Stynky made him! (And all the other pirate emoticons.) Someone (Stynky knows not who) animated it so that it looks like a panting dog. Er, an erotic thing. Er, like it's sticking it's tongue out the side of it's mouth in an anatomically impossible way. All the emoticons used to be on Stynky's site and you had to link to them. At some point, they uploaded them to the site proper and they became the emoticons here. The same person animated them all, which does not in any way explain why the angry and sad pirate emoticons are blinking. (What is up with that?) So there you are. Are you guys planning to have lots of accidents? Spent Monday coming up with the background scenario for next year with William. Nigel, from the Bone Islanders, thinks it will be amazing and is already planning some of the building for the necessary props....including a full size damaged main mast.... If all goes according to plan... you will be busy "doctoring" the entire weekend with a field hospital and the opening scenario, will be the icing on the cake for your craft... we are even hoping to bring in our surgeon to help because you WILL have your hands full... Other special effects that will be needed(off the top of my head) will be: serious splinter wounds burns smoking/charred debris from the ships dismembered limbs more barrows (we have one) that work as the stretchers you want (we will also test out the silk waist sash to see if it truly functions as a stretcher as well) Hopefully a cart and horse for the wounded and bodies Severally damaged clothing for every sailor or ship board individual and be prepared to get ordinary kit wet.... LOTS of cargo....damaged, burning, floating...etc... If we start now...we should be able to turn the entire camp into the most amazing site... Stynky Tudor
. . .Hey! Actually I did make and animate them. However I didn't make the non-pirate themed ones, the big skull and cross bones or the smaller pirate emoticons. They use to all live on my web server and I encouraged people to cut 'n paste the IMG code - web address if they wanted to use them. Sometime later, Angus - the previous board owner downloaded them from my site and installed them here at the Pub. If you're dorky enough to have a hex editor, you should be able to read my name, email address and maybe an old dead phone number embedded in the image header. There use to be a question mark too, but I don't know where that has run off to. Thanks for the props - critical or otherwise Mission!

My Dear Captain, What kind of severed limbs would you be needin'? If plastic, like the kind you find in Halloween stores, I have tons. From a distance they would probably do fairly well. If you want them more realistic looking, I can probably make some up for you. pm me and we can discuss this further. No. The horse would be provided by one of the locals on the island.... we keep a goat on the ship and a few sheep for the Scots. In high school a supersoaker attached to some clear rubber tubing works pretty well, depending on how thick the stage blood is. Supersoakers can provide a steady stream because of the pressure reservoir, although they are frankly more useful for a long violent spurt. "The time was when ships passing one another at sea backed their topsails and had a 'gam,' and on parting fired guns; but those good old days have gone. People have hardly time nowadays to speak even on the broad ocean, where news is news, and as for a salute of guns, they cannot afford the powder. There are no poetry-enshrined freighters on the sea now; it is a prosy life when we have no time to bid one another good morning." - Capt.
