Yeah, Bootstrap is probably dead... and to get historical, didn't a pirate crew actually vote a captain out of office, so to speak? Just started "Porto Bello Gold" by Howden-Smith... if you liked "Treasure Island", read this one... written in a similar style to RLS, with many of the same characters as "Treasure Island"... good read...

The US Navy SEALs, member of the US Coast Guard, and certain units in the US Marines STILL TO THIS DAY receive training on how to board and search suspected pirate vessels (especially the Coast Guard)... the pirates are still out there, ladies and gents... some in the Caribbean, A LOT in Asia... pirates still effecting us today? You bet!

I read a National Geographic article about Port Royal in its heyday, when I was a kid... had lots of illustrations, a famous "Nat'l Geo" map, and tons of good info... I've been hooked since... I also grew up with my grandfather's (a Scotsman) tales of Scottish and Viking sailors, as well as his own tales of flying in the US Navy (he was an aviator from 1943 to 1965)... the sea's in my blood, so to speak!

Was watching the Cartoon Network this morning, and the series "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century" was on... all about chasing these space pirates, with a whole lot of humorous nods to old and new pirate movies... its well worth the half hour spent watching, if you manage to catch it...
