  1. Only between 10 AM & 11AM.
  2. The Queen Anne ROCKS! I got one about 2 years ago and have never had a problem with it. I bought the kit through Dixie Gunworks, and also ordered flints, leather, and a powder flask. They also offer a book about this gun. Altogether I spent about $250.
  3. No, he wasn't there, it was a look-a-like. It didn't matter much for the gals though, they were still going GA-GA over him.
  4. **** ***!
  5. Thanks DD! I think I'll be ordering one o' those after Christmas. Only thing I don't like about him is the puny sabre. I wish he came with a big beefy cutlass.
  6. I am not as fortunate. My dearest Mum' wanted to give me the DVD fer' Christmas, so i've held off from purchasing it. But I did see it twice in the theater, twice in hotels , and once on a plane trip. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL X-MAS!!!!!
  7. When looking for prey, pirates tended to linger in the shipping lanes. With the exception of Savannah, there was not an abundance of ports in Georgia. In the early 1700's Savannah did not produce as much business in shipping as did her sister city, Charleston SC. Nonetheless, the sea islands of the Georgia coast, produced natural hiding and places to careen their ships. Some of the more famous pirates to venture through Georgia waters were; Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, Sam Bellamy, Jack Rackham, Charles Vane, Mary Read, and Anne Bonny. I'm sure they nabbed a ship or two, coming up from Jamacia, right off your coast.
  8. The way I figure it, Bootstrap probably had a few years to free himself from that cannon. I think he's still around, so look for him in POTC2.
  9. Let's make next year's fest the largest one yet!!!!!!
  10. Appy Birthin' day to ya! I'll be havin' a piece of that ( rum) cake if ye please.
  11. Photos from this years PIP can be seen at; www.piratesofthecoast.com www.nighthawkpirates.com If anymore pics are floating please let us know. Ah.. the sweet memories.
  12. An old family legend of mine tells that my great great great great grandfather was pardoned by the gov'ner of NC from being a pirate. He moved to Barnwell SC and started a farm. My grand father always tells me he came off of Blackbeard's ship.
  13. It might not be a traditional shanty, but find an old Emerson, Lake , and Palmer CD and listen to their lyrics on "the Pirate" It doesn't get much more evil than that.
  14. I found a incredibly large belt at www.silvermane.com. I believe it was called a common villagers belt? Since it's almost Christmas, Santa belts are common enough to find at costume shops.
  15. You're welcome there Scuppers! Does anyone know of other resturaunts like this?
  16. I voted for ye game, but it doesn't look good in the polls.
  17. Does anyone know if a Pirate festival got of the ground in Brunswick, GA a few years back? If so, does it still continue?
  18. I think that you are on to something. Bootstrap was the only pirate to stand up for Cap'n Sparrow , and he paid for it with his life. That leads me to my next question. If Bootstrap sent the coin to his son in England, it was after they had found the cursed treasure. He would probably have touched it before it was sent, thereby placing the curse on himself. After all he was a pirate and he did steal it. Does this mean ole' Bootstrap is now part of the undead, somewhere at the bottom of the ocean?
  19. I wish I had heard of your ship earlier. I was visiting San Fran not even three weeks ago. Maybe next time! I hope you and the crew have a wonderful holiday.
  20. This year's ( my first) Pirates in Paradise Fest was the most entertaining event I have been to in a while. I should know since I work in the special event field creating similiar events such as this. Wonderful, awesome, hilarious, and down right stupendous are some of the words I would use to describe this event. Key West could not paint a better background for this piece of pirate heaven. But with every thing, I believe, and I mean this in the very best , it could use a little tweaking. I do not want to discourage a new visitor to attend this event, because without a doubt, this is the one pirate fest you can't miss! I believe if the event could be moved closer to Mallory Square, thereby utilizing the tourist stream, our vendors would be more succesful. Posters in the storefronts and banners on the streetlamps, would help spread the word for us. The most common phrase I heard this year was " Why are all the pirates here?" and " Could I have a picture with you?" This tells me that these people (most assuredly tourists) have not seen information on the fest. I also did not see as many people touring the wharf as much as other destinations. If we could possibly tap into the cruise ships, we could schedule events with them accordingly. Has anyone seen the amount of people that get off a ship in port?! The vendors sold wonderful items, were very friendly, and " hammed it up" for many people. They were unfortunant that they were spread apart, so that many were missed by spectators. If we could use an area, possibly Fort Taylor, we could create an entire pirate village. We could build an entertainment stage for the minstrels and sword fighters, games for kids and adults to play, photo ops, markets, challenge the local resturaunts into a contest for creating old sailor recipes, etc... There are many great ideas that you pirates have out there. Let's keep in touch and help make this event bigger and better each year. LONG LIVE PIRATES IN PARADISE!
  21. Kinflum has a store on Ebay that might be worth looking at. The hats are very detailed, a little flamboyant, but that could be the look you are after. Nonetheless, very striking and AFFORDABLE.
  22. Ello' Cap'n Liz, Good to hear from you again. Do you know about the Blackbeard Fest in Morehead City, NC? It's a really fun event to attend. I loved it. It was my first pirate event I had been to. There is also a Blackbeard Fest in Hampton, VA, right after this one. I want to attend the VA one, I hear it 's the best.
  23. Ahoy Longarm! Glad to hear ye sail in the same waters! Me thinks we could board that barge and sail her out under the nose of the govner'. Have you any imformation of a pirate fest in Georgetown? talk with ye later mate.
  24. Thank Ye' Cap'n Tito for the warm wishes. I hope the same for you and all ye crewe. Merry Christmas to all and happy holidays!!!
