  2. I still want this pattern and I intend to stock up come August 14th!

Hey, do you girls know the best available pattern for the best looking frock coat? I don't want a "costume" looking coat, I want a nice one.

Contest, waaai! I may enter, but I need to see what they're asking for, first!

  3. I live in LA, where they hate Wal-mart. O_o But I hear of so many nice things about the fabrics there... that really is a steal!

I found nice linen at my downtown fabric district for under 5 a yard! I thought that was a good price!

  4. I agree with ye, IronBess. I be a Lord of the Rings fan too, and the talking figures of those are amazin'. The sculptin' is jus' fantastic, n' the accuracy of the costumes is well worth the price!

I await Will Turner figures to go with Jack here. I like tha' serious Jack meself. I want 'em both.

  5. What would happen iffin' a lady-wench from the Old days were ta be popped into OUR times?

...Kinda' sounds like a movie proposal...

Ah, she would be pleasantly surprised with the luxuries tha' the women of today 'ave. Oh, blessed... trash cans and warm showers.

  6. *flops onto pillows and squees at Captain Jack plushie. Proceeds to pull out her own set of Captain Sparrow and Will Turner plushies* Ah, aren't they cute?

I heard Anchorman has a pirate in it. A pirate in the wrong century. :D

Thanks for the warm welcome, lassies!

  7. The thing abou' it is is tha' righ' now, we here are used to the luxuries of air conditioners, auto...mob-whatsists an' shotguns. Personally, though... I don' know how a woman'd deal during the Golden Age. Y'know... withou' those OTHER luxuries women of today 'ave. O_o

An' I admit... I am very, VERY fond of my PlayStation 2.

  8. After completing Treasure Island by Stevenson, I want to get though some of my historical books, Under the Black Flag, and one of my favorites is Sodomy and the Pirate Tradition by Burg. Sorry, boys, I like... butt pirates.

Also, I want to get to Kidnapped, another Stevenson book about a boy who is kidnapped and escapes with a pirate. Looks very good, and was well recieved at the time he wrote it.

  9. Those of you in the Southern California/valley or LA area, Big Bear is not that far a drive. It's about 2 hours plus from Los Angeles, and it's very scenic.

The faire seems to be very big and very lush. They boast events like Shakespeare plays, jousts and live steel battles. I know Big Bear is a huge camping area, so I hope to camp out there for the weekend.

    Website here.

    Anyone else planning to go?

  10. Since I er... left my wench garb at Comic-con, I have to scramble to get a new one made before the next faire, the Big Bear faire.

I have multiple patterns of what I want, but now I need to know what kinds of fabric to use. I don't want anything synthetic, I need it historically accurate (kind of) and BREATHABLE. Bloody damn hot at faires, I need some air!

What materials did wenches normally use for bodices, for chemises and skirts? I know I'm looking at natural weaves... is linen okay for one or everything?

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  11. Change of plans. Although I need faire right about now, any thought of one is depressing me too much. Ever since I lost my beautiful wolfy wench costume at Comic-con, the thought of faire makes me cry. It was beautiful work, and $80! Such a steal, and such talent!

Plus... I think it's just too much to drive down to San Diego so soon. Too soon.

  12. Cap'n Bloodheart, the PotC soundtrack is nothing short of amazin'! I own many, MANY film scores, and PotC is one of my best and favorites! It is even by man who is far less known than such people as John Williams, Danny Elfman and James Horner, who are the creators of fantastic music and today's most recognizable screen theme songs.

    GET IT NOW.

Yes, I noticed that when I got the CD! I got a real kick outta tha', and spent some time thinkin' of what I would've put down as my pirate name. :) Lucky dogs.

  13. Yeah, my wench costume can be replaced, but it was $80 and lots of hard work from my seamstress! I am so distressed. And I don't work, so $80 is rather a large amount. O_o

Again, great pictures! I wish I could have mine up!

  14. I got me paws on three packs at Comic-con for $15, which by now, seems a bit over the askin' price! Bu' it's okay, I am over 't. I love the game! I haven't had a chance to play it proper, so I can't wait until I do!

Try looking to buy the packs of the game online or on eBay.

  15. BREECHES WITH A FALL FRONT! *weeps and dies*

I am so excited. I heard about this pattern from a friend's mum who is a master costumer. Oh yes, now I don't have to go out and buy a $30 historically accurate pattern for breeches.
