  4. Bar shot was similar to chain shot in that it involves two cannon balls . With chain shot the balls are conected by a length of chain whereas bar shot is connected by a solid iron bar O-O both were used against the masts or rigging of an opposing ship the idea is that the shot could demast a ship or foul the rigging making it harder for the enemy to manouver. It was also usefull in sweeping the enemies deck of crew members cutting a fairly large swath ..

There is, howsumever, something vaguely disturbing about the pirate tyke with big eyes concept. Kinda like havin a cuddly Komodo Dragon.

  10. Salt breeze in yer face , the smell of freshly poured rum , the smell of new burned powder mixed with the scent of well oiled leather ,the smell of a well cared for ship . These are the smells that I find most gratifyin .

  11. Merry as this appears to be the actual day of the blessed event of yer birthday I wishes ye the best an I hopes you recover soon from the celibrations , an just remember most of it just washes off with a garden hose . And remember don't spend to much tyme in the scuppers as the folks "like me fer e.g. " aren't of the highest calbre ... 58 cal at best

" Yo Ho a pyrates life fer me ... "

  12. Lookin' at all these here ships... notice tha' ya don't see anythin' but Sloops n' Schooners? Nary a one is a square rigger...

Or is I lookin' in th' wrong ports?

Check out the original link at Cool Boats

There's a couple of barquentines and a hermaphrodite brig (labled as a brigantine). Still, there's nothing wrong with a gaff rigger in my opinion. And anything wood is a plus as well.

    Coastie

Well Lad you may also try a site called Appollo duck they are another big brokerage and they has some interesting and unusual vessels .
