  1. I'll be first in line to buy it!!! Maybe buy from an online shop and a real world shop as well just to make sure I have all bases covered.
  2. My avatar came from my most recent return to Panama trip in August. It is of the Cathedral Tower in Panama Viejo destroyed in 1671 when Henry Morgan and his band of 1400 sacked the city. My pic in my signature pic came from San Fernando in Portobelo Panama. The fort was taken by Admiral Vernon in 1758. If you want to see a high res pic of the lower level of San Fernando click here.
  3. Yeah, cleaning 300 years of crud off is a royal pain in the butt but the finished product is well worth the labor.
  4. That was a great article. I'll blame it on making me late returning from lunch.
  5. I really enjoyed the movie. I saw it while I was in Panama back in August and going to the same place where in 1671 Sir Henry Morgan sacked the city of Panama Viejo the following day was a real treat. The only part I didn't like was the fact that the movie was in Spanish and some of the translations did not go as well as one would want them to go. I'll be the first in line when the DVD comes out even if it means playing hooky from work to be the first one to own it.
  6. I was looking into getting a few of my reales mounted but I am not impressed with a normal looking gold or silver chain. I was looking for a chain that was similar in shape (definately not size) to an anchor chain. Any suggestion where to find some?
  7. Hmmm, pottery (a great deal has been broken over the centuries), bottles, cannon balls, reales, cannon (still have to figure how to get it to the US), mortar rounds, pieces of swords, etc. Most of my stuff was found scuba diving and humping through the jungles of Central and South America.
  8. Here are 3 of the best ones I acquired my last trip into Panama (sorry for the blury pic):
  9. While I found the waters of Key West to be a little boring for me, not enough sharks and not enough booty to be found, I might be up for a dive trip is I am able to take the time off work and attend.
  10. I'm not too picky about having a hot and a cot but the back of my Jeep has served me well on previous trips. Is there a law againts sleeping in a vehicle in Key West?
  11. Now I could be wrong on this, but the last few times I have been in an airport, I've been told that my checked luggage had to go in unlocked. It could just be an airport-to-airport thing, or a situation with the security at the time, as I prefer my luggage to be locked down (as I have had friends who have had perfectly legitimate items stolen from their belongings). It's very likely that no one will be foolish enough to pull a whole attache out of someone's luggage, but I'll be honest I worry now when I put anything of value on a plane anymore. The checked bag rule depends on the airline. I traveled from the west coast back in June and had to have my bag unlocked and they were searched without me present. I traveled to Central America and my bags were searched in front of me as well as for the return trip.
  12. As soon as the wreckage is cleared in Colonial Williamsburg from Isabel I will make a stop and have one or two in that tavern.
  13. Unfortunately I was unable to talk like a Pirate on the 19th, surviving the wreckage of Hurricane Isabel was more important. I did, prior to losing electricity for 4 days, read the top 10 pirate pick-up lines.
