  1. Dang I wished I had known about this when I was living in vallejo
  2. Aye a very fine job on the metal, it be very hard to age wood without making it look like you tried ageing it. Is there a contest for drinking and I wasnt told?
  3. One would also assume that you would not go out exploring the island if you had enough to eat and were wounded or hurting.
  4. Thinking about this, what if it did not go around the neck and instead went all the way down the back and attached to the back of the belt?
  5. Ive been toying with a similar idea about building a baldric similar to that but thaking the approace of what it needs to do and then build it. Of course I am also loking at building pistols perfect size for a baldric like this.
  6. How's your search going? I've heard of a Hunter 37 in my neighborhood for sale and a Gulfstar 38 which has massive room inside. They are both suposed to be in good condition and are under 20K if this helps at all. Of course that might mean starting in the FL Keys (unless you need a skipper to take her north that is) where you want to end up . . .
  7. Rats- Did you ever find a cannon? We build period correct GAoP cannons from 1/4 pound rail guns to 6 pound pieces in bronze. Many forum members here are familiar with the cannons.
  8. Kill the sucker (Ive got the gun and bayonet) and eat well, if the Indians return I will share with them just as they shared with me
  9. The fact that it was an innocent kitten and not a cat makes it even worse.
  10. Beautiful work from the pictures, I can't wait till I get the blade here so I can send it off to you. CS
  11. Hmm back when I was in college I flew home for Christmas which at the time was in ID. Working on antique cars in California I knew the difference between a ruxtel and a rajo. In ID I found that some junkyards still had old cars (1920's) so I proceeded to remove some heads at the junkyard to take back to CA where I would use them. So at the airport I lugged my packed sea bag(with a couple cast iron heads in it) up to the flight check in hefting it without showing signs as to its weight. After checking in a man went to pick up my bag and set it on the track, I looked at him and said "careful thats heavy." Im sure he was thinking hes just a kid how heavy can it be 20-30 pounds (not knowing it was FULLY packed and had cast iron), he grabbed the handle which if you know sea bags is a joke and went to move it. The bag didn't budge as heturned to look at me with new respect (he had seen me carrying it in) said something like its too heavy you are going to have to pay more. Well $20 later (remember pre 911) Im on the plan with lots of caution heavy lables on the bag . . . Just reading that one link made me think of this.
  12. No I don't mind sharing. I got them at the "porn shop" if ya be famaliar with KW then you know where Im talkin bout. Unfortunatly they were almost out and I got them a long time ago but when I asked they said they would be getting a shipment in before PiP so you may be able to buy some right there for PiP if you would want.
  13. Would it change the name in all of my posts? I think most remember Vintagesailor so it might be better to just keep vintagesailor.
  14. Niko- Where in the FL Keys are you? I am in Key Largo and will be going to PiP this year (I was there in '07 but missed '08) . In regards to bare feet I usually always go barefoot and don't have any problems but then I also don't have a problem walking around on coral gravel on a day to day basis. I have a pair of boots that I recently bought in KW which are not bucket boots and are very similar to a spanish drawing illustrating seamens boots circa 1729, these were under $40. I plan on wearing them at night or if I go into town otherwise going barefoot. As for cannon crew, I can help you out with that, the Viceroy and I build cannons and he is in charge of the shore batteries at PiP. If all you want to do is fire something I can probably help you out as well bring powder is all I ask.
  15. I supose you haven't taken statics, try to think of ever force requires a force in the opp direction. (3) is the bowsprit it is under compression the hull acts in 1 direction and the forestay (1) and bobstay (2) provide the counteracting force. The forestay forces are broken into 2 90 degree forces one along the bowsprit and the other perpindicular. The force perpindicular must be counteracted bay a force in the opp direction which would be (2), these forces would need to be equal therefore the angle between (2) and (3) must be as great as possible. Usually when all things come together the angle between (1) and (2) is 90 degrees but not always I hope this helps
  16. Actually she looks very similar to a piece I was drawing up on autocad 3d to be able to build as a fuctional RC model
  17. If you are partners that says it all
  18. Beautiful little boat, wish she had more freeboard and was on the other end of the coast. I have a perfect cannon to fit her out with.
  19. If you have a trailer she would be trailerable, I think she is around 22 feet.
  20. From the looks of it you will need to add a dolphin striker under the bowsprit, just remember the forestays come down to the bowsprit and normally form a 90 degree angle with the line opp it on the bottom.
  21. How about if said aunt know no english?
  22. If you live a life where you challenge yourself you will never be fulfilled living on the profits of your challenges
  23. I know that completly, I just am trying to get her to understand that what she sees in pyrates is not correct GAOP. I feel that if given all the pictures and information available her family could make a dress that would be PC with my help but even more your help. I am portraying a portuguese sailor who has gained wealth and a wife in the east will you help US with PC garb for PiP. I can make a flintlock but a shirt is a bit harder
