  1. Not sure when I'll be back
  2. While I happen to be at sea (away from the home port) I have some access to that glowing box that emits sounds and lights and found that Netflix just released black sails on demand. Entertainment
  3. Welcome back, how's that little mortar doing?
  4. You have a pirate in western TN that happens to build some cool stuff.
  5. I got mine last night when I went and saw a friend. Beautiful box with a nice quill and homemade ink that I should be using at Alafia Rendezvous here in a week. Years ago Ivan Henry had a batch of those flasks but the tips were shorter. The top would unscrew, veteran arms sells a new one that size but they are all brass. It looks like yours has a new tip probably to make priming easier.
  6. Looks like an ornament or is functional?
  7. I'll see if I can wrestle it from his hands at some point.
  8. Anything coming to me is no rush, I'm away from home and won't be back for months. I shall put in a pirate appearance at the rendezvous here in FL.
  9. Haven't received anything and will be on the road tomorrow so maybe when I get back in Feb or March
  10. Birthday, got a miquelet and it works!
  11. Well it's pretty much together. I could drill it at this time and fire it although I do want to go over the steel first.
  12. I wonder with panther closing their doors how that will effect the used tent sales. Ill be heading to alafia rendezvous next month. Last year very few tents for sale, the year before tons at great prices.
  13. At this point i decided to weigh it 4.5 pounds .85 caliber a beast
  14. I starte work on this new piece and as you can see it is still a work in progress but I thought you would like to see regardless. It is a Spanish circa early 1700 when Spain began adopting the french style lock (the unbridled frizen and miquelet style cock date it as an early version of what would become common) this would have been built for a wealthy nobleman, someone travelling to the new world or returning overseeing the shipment of his property. Such a weapon if seized by pirates would have been selected by someone of high rank upon division of the prize. It is very well proportioned and does not show its size (.85 caliber 4.5 lbs!) a true beast that could fend off most any attack yet still worn on a belt.
  15. Just got online with the computer rather than the akward phone and saw this. If theres room im in.
  16. 50 cal rifle and 62 smooth on top, 32 rifle on bottom
  17. Currently prices are going up daily. If you find a deal grab it
  18. Blueing/patina/full lock tuning available at additional cost. French Charleville, English heavy dragoon, sea service, and French heavy dragoon.
  19. I saw this come up from a while back and thought I would share.
  20. Some of us here have done a bit of hunting but dont advertise what has not been found so a section relating to it would be a bit pointless.
  21. Solid, built like a cannon. I welded a tang to the end
  22. I made this one a while back and took pictures of the build pictures . . . First was deciding what to build, I found this original lock that needed minor repair and being a Spanish lock the build of the gun followed. The next was to come up with a stock so a sketch on acad printed up to scale on multiple pages Now knowing size I could begin on the barrel starting with a piece of solid stock. Checking the barrel with the lock the next is to cut out the stock. Power tools can hog out a good portion but once you get close it needs to be done by hand. Then there is the hardware, typical I work with castings from the rifle shoppe. Although I often will make from scratch as well. Once you have all the parts it's just the hours spent to get them all to fit right. . . All assembled and given a patina to match the original lock
