  1. Wow great photo's everyone. I brought the camera but never seemed to have a chance to take a single shot so thanks so much for capturing the memories!
  2. I wish I had that kind of discipline - I don't know why i push so hard - I have NO voice at all now, and a HORRIBLE cough, I think it was from that one cold and wet night. I need to learn to stop before I've damaged it beyond repair.
  3. Sorry I didn't make it out there to the Ordinary - I helped Fayma with preparing meals inside the fort, the two breakfasts and that Navy Bean Soup and Vegetarian Chilli,Oh and a specail thanks to Harriet who was a huge help in the fort preparing those meals. Next year we'll be on the beach with everyone else so we can cook in the ordinary beside together. One common fire and a bunch of prep cooks and dishwashers will make for more fun and less hard work.
  4. Ummm I am sure there is a story there. Perhaps more than one. Story one - I took a flying face plant and was rescued from utter humiliation when Dutch flung himself on top of me while proclaiming "I'll save you!" Which saved my pride more than my flesh which is bruised and pinched. Thankfully my leather stays took the scratches as I slid across the concrete. Greg lovingly buffed them out for me. Story 2 the following night his height obscured his view of a low lying bench, which inadvertently tripped him causing the same reaction a flying face plant (I have to admit in the pirate Olympic flying face plant challenge - it was a close call but I came in second - his drew blood) There were no visible scuffs to rub so I returned the kindness in rum. I'd like to officially withdrawl from this event for next year, I am sad to regret I am passed my prime and need to retire from the sport.
  5. Honestly, I will be happy to serve every meal I am around. I had more fun doing that than most things over the weekend. I got to have little mini-chats with lots of people I never got to talk to the rest of the time because we were always in different places.... As for the Minestrone, that was Lily's recipe, it was fantastic, wasn't it!!!! By the way Nell, my most precious memory of the weekend is Sunday night as your tears were streaming down my face as we all hugged and sang in the Pub! That was the most precious memory of the event!!!! D awe love ya sweetie..it was a beautiful moment sharing a common glass with the whole family. You know Chrispy and I wouldn't be a part of this if it hadn't been for you and Hurricane. I do hope we'll have more pub sings next year, I love those moments, when there's a genuine spirit of sharing from our hearts. I would love Old Zachs to be like a real old english pub where locals go to drink beer and share songs and stories, where the stage is always open for everyone to share. we open the pub at 3, we had some decent crowds in there a pretty attentive audience as well. I know everyone is so busy but I'd love it if people would drop in and share a song or a story, I didn't get to hear you sing my favorite song all weekend. Would love to hear it next year. I hope you'll drop in the
  6. LOL great balls of steel and fire LOL, thanks Sheila. maybe next year I'll join ya. i wanted to do it this year but the crew insisted I not jump in that water a month after surgery. honestly with no beach to swim to I'm not so sure I'd have made it back on board. Bummed I missed the thing all together though. Would have loved to see it this year, looks like everyone went all out.
  7. The Bone Island Buccaneers hail from Cayo Hueso (Bone Island) otherwise known as Key West, and are the host crew of the Fort Zachary Taylor Pirate Festival. Under the command of Captain bloody Spike Pierce, the crew of the Bloodlust are: Iron Nigel Flynnt - Quartermaster, Master Hairbone - Master-At-Arms, Bawdy Be, Jose Santiago De la Muerte, Portside Tom, Rusty Nell Reilly, Cannibal Chrispy, Silverhawk, Robin Read, Sister Red, Tatty, The Reverend Christoph, Saucy Bones, Lusty Dutch, William Dark http://www.sonicbids.com/boneislandbuccaneers please contact Captain Pierce through the link above.
  8. If this board grows to outrageous numbers - after Nikki Bayley writes about us in the London Mirror, it may actually be a nice feature to keep track of the people you actually have met. Basically that's what I thought. I just noticed the feature and have been frantically adding everyone I've been lucky enough to meet in person. Its kind of a neat way to keep track of people you know. Not that any of you i haven't met yet are less important or friendly. anyway i don't see it as inclusionary I see it as a way for us folks with HORRIBLE memories to keep track of who we've already met so we know who we still need to meet. Just my take on it.
  9. Cheeky, I am so very glad you came this year, you are all your name implies and so much more dear girl. Oh the fun we'll have next year... It will be great fun to recreate the hanging, for the general public. I think the comic relief lightens the whole thing, you were fabulous. I can't wait to see the photos!
  10. Unbeatable??? ....as Captain Spike so eloquently put it he be "second to none", and though Not Nigel may be a champion cannon-baller that notorious pirate hunter couldn't find his skull if it were attached... which it wasn't ... well attached anyway... I think there's a screw loose or something... Madd Dogge...missing something???
  11. My neighbor who watched the cats while I was away said it looked like i lost a few pounds..she's kind, I gained 3.... if we keep up this talk looks like i'll gain 5 next year... I'm sure it will be worth every bite! Sounds like we're on our way to evening FEASTS! if we can get the buccaneers roasting meat, and do some PC side dishes, and take turns serving each other we'll eat like kings all weekend, sign me up for a couple of evening meals, i'll make at least 2 dishes Silkie... maybe we should consider building some sort of PC brick oven for baking...anyone? regarding the vegetarians ... we have a few in our crew as well, I did my best to accommodate them by making a small meatless batch- its not too tough to put an extra pot on. I'm going to talk to the crew about getting that breakfast vendor back .... we're all far to tired (from 4 am nights ) and everyone seems pressed for time in the morning, far too many people, myself included... wandering about in a stooper begging for coffee.... I miss the pancake guy from 2 years ago. He was really reasonably priced too. We're camping out at the beach as well this year, I have a feeling we'll need the room for vendors. I'm thinking we should reserve our crew cooking for out in the careening camp at the Hide. I heard the food vendor wasn't too pleased with the competition, they could see we were cooking, even though it was for charity or for ourselves, I'm sure he was concerned about the loss of business, its hard to compete with practically free food. We need to keep our vendors happy too. I'm really excited about how this is bringing everyone together, thanks Silkie, and Diosa, it was so wonderful the one night I ate there, did someone say Lily made the minestrone, or was that your recipe... either way the meal was elegant and it felt like family, we may need more tables next year.
  12. BTW I as well am willing to help in anyway Jim. Once we get closer, I'll let you know when I'm available, you can count me as an Able Body, be it taking bids, or funds, or manning the booth, and if Captain Spike is detained, Chrispy has a lot of experience as an MC and is more than willing to fill in on either night as well. Really, think about the silent auction option as well. We'll work on making sure you have a prominently displayed tent throughout the festival, to make sure people are aware of what's going on. It may be the best way to get the prices higher as well as save us some time. If we slot the non-PC items for Saturday _-- Oh and I woke up this morning and was thinking about getting some artists involved in contributing art work for the auction as well). We can then so the the Deadman's chest auction closing on Sunday. We can allow people to write in their bids as early as opening day. Then culminate the auction at closing of each fest day before dark while we still have patrons in the park by hold a short live auction on special select items that we've put out for viewing but were not part of the silent auction. Speaking of artwork, any artists on the pub, or anyone who has an artist friend interested in contributing nautical or pirate theme artwork, this would be a great reason to start work on a new piece, don't ya think?? We could raise some really big money, maybe even add a few more charities, Anyway... I'm here to help in anyway I can. I'm really excited that PIP is becoming not only the best gathering of pyratical people on the planet but a philanthropic event as well... it warms me bloody blackheart!
  13. From the album: Rusty

Chrispy and Nell --- oh craps.... my FEET!! --- merry PIPmas everyone!
  14. Silkie, How do you feel about doing one evening menu with food and recipe's that would have been native to the islands at the time. I'll do my research and and put together some recipes, anyone else please chime in we could make it a period pot-luck. We'll not only get a great taste for the islands but for the time period. It could turn out to be a really exotic meal. i was reading some of the recipes in No Quarter Given and some of them sounded pretty appetizing, if not at the very least interesting. (e.i. paw-paw - being from the south i'd heard of it but had never actually tried it andm never realized what it was - boiled green papaya - sounds interesting.) brought to you from the test kitchens of the careening camp.... Nell
  15. and i disagree with not letting him wear a chemise, I think it should be mandatory...showing a little leg never hurt... "sell it baby!!" It's not his legs that disturb me, frighten children and send vicious dogs running; It's his cleavage! Did you know that Madd Dogge is a professional pole dancer? I missed the pole dancing, though I've heard tales of it, I did hear he did some flying fence dancing this year... by the way - the combo is 1814.... In my best stewardess voice "Attention please the captain has extinguished the remembrance of the combination, please watch yer step while exiting and entering the camp, and be sure to secure yer onion bottle..." Maybe we should tattoo the combination on his cleavage?
  16. and i disagree with not letting him wear a chemise, I think it should be mandatory...showing a little leg never hurt... "sell it baby!!" Oh and Captain Jim, maybe we outta do the non period contributions on the first day and save the chest for the second. I'd hate to restrict people from contributing anything, after all its for a good cause. We could always separate the display tent into 2 tables one for Saturdays auction and one for Sundays. There is always the option of making it a silent auction, and maybe doing a live auction on the night for special select items, it would cut down on the time it takes to do the thing.
  17. Jill, sent you a friend request. Thanks for the add. lol it's like our very own pyrate me space. Glad to have a place to keep in touch with ya. Sorry I didn't have more time to visit, had my hands full this year. I'm hoping next year we'll have some time to share a drink and a chat. I owe myself a cup a tea and minute to put up my poor aching FEET! i'll take a chamomile for sure, extra honey, and a foot massage. Honestly we need to press some of our powder monkeys into service for that job. Sip while they rub... (sips slowly) XOXO Nell
  18. Greg, hope you made it home safely, avoiding all low flying benches. I thankfully made it home, avoiding potentially deadly rising concrete tile and flying Dutchman. Hope the rum helped to ease the bruising...ego or otherwise. Be thankful at least that your acrobatics were in the dark and on the grassy field. If it hadn't been for the Dutchman's daring rescue I fear my hard landing in front of the masses would have required additional rations. Cheers to the healing salve of friends. "Fear not, I'll save you!" XOXO - oh and thanks for buffing the scuffs out of my stays
  19. Silkie!!! O I love ya!!! I want to do what ever I can next year to help ya keep it growing, The one meal I did make it for was fantastic... they should all be like that, I felt like a queen, being served and all... Wish I'd had more chances to get over there for a meal. 000000000 BIG HUGS!!! .. next year I hope to get everyone in the pub for a sing on the same night, its so wonderful to pass the songs around the room... was so lovely hearing you sing again! XXXXX - kisses to go with those hugs.
  20. So very much enjoyed the screening of the film, thanks for sharing that.... .you hurt my last rib...one thing is certain about PIP so much laughter!
  21. A man of your word.... "Whooooo Hoooo" back at ya!
  22. I logged on to see if you'd added my name to the all girl cannon crew ... truthfully I hadn't read any of your log. I had decided I would save it for last, like the cherry on the banana split of pyracy. So, after my first real really long hot shower and after 4 days of 4 am nights, and missing you all TERRIBLY already, I find tonight was much like every night at PIP, I can hardly keep my eyes open, but I read it through in an exhausted stupor... I don't want it to end. Sorry I missed the pass the hat game, would have been happy with either of your hats.. oh wait a minute... I think I had Stynky's hat on at Silkies, and he had yours... wow almost forgot that.... not sure if thats the 4 am's or the mead. Really enjoyed this Mission.
  23. Praise justice has shined on Rusty Nell!! I've been saved from the drink, I 'ave! Me cappy, that notorious scoundrel Bloody Spike Pierce has committed crimes far worse than I.... aye, tis true!! and luck be mine me crews forgotten what er wrong I'd done 'em.
  24. guitar ... flute (modern) and the voice box.... working on learning the fiddle - its a LONG journey past the torture stage.
