  1. I am so bummed I missed that Salad-mungundi - it looks incredibly yummy
  2. My idea for the silent auction was indeed that... that they must be present to win.just make a closing time for the silent auction... maybe half an hour before live bidding starts on the selected items. I'm just trying to find a way to cut down the actual live auction time for you. You can announce the winners of items on the silent auctions first, and if someone really wants the item and is willing to pay more they can bid live otherwise it stands as it closed in writing.... then start the bidding of the few items we've chosen to be live auction items only. maybe pick 5 things you expect a bidding war on for the live portion.
  3. So you mean I'm doing this all wrong? I thought chicks all love a man in uniform?!?!? Time to change strategies again... LOL Your right Diosa, Sterling has the mystery thing down and its certainly intriguing. He is a man of few words. Seems to me, gals like us (who never shut up) particularly like that in a man - strong and silent - -(singing to herself "ahh - -sweet mystery of life at last i've found you" )--- to Sterling: FINE... just stand there with that proud smirk, you torturous bastard!
  4. It was a halloween costume from many years ago that I had tucked in a back room at my last job and forgot about. I came across them a few months ago and put 2 and 2 together. I'm glad the cappy donned it with Chrispy I had been rolled enough (falling down and such) by the last night to have the energy. They were great. It was really funny.
  5. Be serious, it was a unisex hat. Actually I thought it would be sexy and attract chicks. But it didn't work very well - I always seemed to be around surrounded by a lot of guys. . . Damn! Maybe that's because it really was a girly hat. Actually, it's a bi-sexual hat. If you're wearing it and you want to get someone to have sex, you have to buy it. (Please to note: this joke is a lot funnier when told than written. It's also mostly only funny if you're drunk or have the mind of a 12 year old boy. (Which you should give back to the boy when you're done with it.)) LOL.....I must still be drunk or I'm a 12 year old boy and don't know it.... ummm (checking) nope I'm still drunk..
  6. ?? Just because I stole the bottle of rum ye stole?? Well that and the girl I be flirting with. . . I mean ya could have left one of 'em behind. Sorry Stynky, I know there's never enough RNR to go around...xoxo but what can I say Sterlings so blasted sexy grrrrrrr

  12. Re: # 4 --Thank you Master Hairbone - it was no doubt thanks to your safety training courses and the watchful eye under the command of Ms. Grace - that the all girl cannon crew was so impressive. Huzzah to you both, I enjoyed every shot from Maeve and a special thanks to Crudbeard for letting us name her, it was truly an honor! Thanks so much Harry for everything you do, and for making it possible to have the most amazing home for this festival. Now it appears that I too have been dealt a serious round of the crud... I'm a progressively coughing up a lung, one wet cold night was all it took--- time for another swig of DayQuil ----ewwww (pinches nose and tries to imagine its rum) all the kisses and hugs were worth it, I'd catch it all over again!

  14. No Purchase, No Pay G C D I was down on me luck on the isle of Tortuga G C D Starvin’ to death when I heard a man say G C D I got the fastest square rigger in all the West Indies G C D G And I need forty men who can help me away When I asked the old salt of the work he was meanin’ He said takin’ the fat Spanish ships on the sea When I asked of the wages of all me hard labor He threw back his head and he bellered at me: G G C D No purchase, no pay is the rule of the day G G C D If we don’t take a prize, then you go empty handed G G C D You’ll fight like a dog to pluck a fine jewel G G C D G If anyone stands against us, you’ll help them to die We shipped out on a Friday to ply the sweet trade Weren’t gone but a week when we spied our fair prey Three fat Spanish ladies a stalled out to windward But we had the surprise and we seized the day We engaged them full on and we fought like the devil One of us, three of them, but we won’t let them flee And I had but one question for our rugged sea captain Why did you never say they’d be firing at me? (CHORUS) We fired our big guns and we captured those galleons They was as full of gold as three galleons could be I made a small fortune from my one adventure And retired from a short career in piracy Now I sit here in this fine London tavern Drinkin’ the best that my money will buy I’ll work and I’ll fight and I’m still a fine sailor But there ain’t enough money to pay me to die
  15. MINGULAY BOAT SONG A What care we how light the spray is? E D E What care we for wind or weather? A Let her go, boys, every inch is E A Sailin' homeward to Mingulay. CHORUS:
Heel ya ho, boys, let her go boys
Heave her head 'round into the weather
Heel ya ho, boys, let her go boys
Sailin' homeward to Mingulay Clap your eyes on the sun arisin'
Gulls and doves fill the sky with feather
Cut her loose, boys, for the horizon
We'll be home soon in Mingulay

Wives are waitin' on the bank or
Lookin' seaward, from the heather
Pull her round boys, and you'll anchor
'Ere the sun sets on Mingulay

Wives are waiting by the harbor,
We've been waiting since break of day.
We're pumped dry and walking larboard,
 To our wives on Mingulay
  16. LIFE OF A PIRATE CHORUS: Am G It's wonderful living the life of a pirate, Am G Am With the freedom to take what we can. Am G And we'll sail the world over, searchin' for plunder, Am G Am Am G Am Not fearin' to face any man, not fearin' to face any man. VERSE: (same progression as Chorus): We call no man our master, no lord and no king. Not long in one place do we stay. And this world is for those who can grab it, and hold it. Possession's the law of the day. BRIDGE: G Am So we take what we want, we don't bother with buyin'. G Am We say what we mean, there ain't no point to lyin'. Am G Am Don't like what we say, you might find yourself dyin', Am G Am In a manner too gruesome to say. V: When we come into town to spend all our spoils, A good time will be had by all. We'll all head to some pub to get drunk off our arses, When we're there, there ain't no last call. B: I'll get rum for meself and strong ale for me friends, And a great deal of loot on the wenches I'll spend. When the money's all gone it's off to sea again, To trade cargo for cannonball. CHORUS V: There's not one of us left who has not yet been blooded, For killing's a part of our trade. And the only thing standing between us and death, Is strength of arm, and speed of blade. B: So we live every day like it might be our last, For all of us know that life is hard and fast, We live for the moment, don't care 'bout the past, From this is our comradeship made. CHORUS

  22. I wanted to start a thread where we can all share the songs we've collected and help expand each others repertoires - this way we can more easily join in at events. I've added a few in the keys we do them in to get us started I hope this is a useful thread. As you can see we've taken some lyrical license, we claim pyrate!! Rusty Nell Riley Bone Island Buccaneers I'll share my homework if you share yours
  23. Was going to start a new thread then i found this one - Here are some of the standard sea tunes we do - I copied this from our press kit - I'll come back and add more songs the keys later. Anyone interested in getting the charts please let me know I'm be happy to swap songs with ya. in fact I'll start a thread where we can post lyrics and chords. Most of these are public domain so there's no issues with doing that. I love not having to struggle to join in, so please add songs in your key as well so we all can join each other easily. 24. I must agree with Ms. Mary on this Mission, you shouldn't tease us so. To share all those wonderful stories then leave out the last, mead soaked, hat swapping, cow on the tent night well... its unfair to say the least.
  25. I agree...Old Zach's Tavern isn't the best for singing. Unless its really quiet in there and the singer knows how to work around the bad acoustics it all sounds like a bloody muffled mess. There's not much we can do about the acoustics.. STILL its become a tradition, and the ambience is part of what makes those evenings special... Even with the bad sound, there were a few times during the public hours that the place was packed with people,...even if they could hardly understand what was being said they seemed transfixed by the whole spectacle. I'd really love to have some instrumental acoustic music in the pub to break things up, if anyone plays and wants to volunteer some time it would be great. I'm going to start a thread of old pub tunes and sea songs I hope people will add to it. If we can agree on Keys to play them in, by next year we'll have a good list of songs we can all play together. Wouldn't that be grand!!! For anyone who plays concertina, fiddle or fife it would be especially beneficial. What do you guys thing about a "Jam session" in the pub from 3 - until the park closes (since its primarily for the public) and then move the festivities beach side after the pub closes, so we can enjoy each others company before turning in? Of course the last night will always be the exception. We all spend more time in Old Zach's on that final evening because of the pig roast and ghost tours and video slide show. Not to mention, being inside the fort after dark is part of what makes this fest special. As much as I love the beach, I'd hate to see everything move outside the fort. I'll miss the shadows and the spirits, and I think they'd miss us.
