  1. greetings all, (typing 1 handed for a while) thank yu Lady B for the post!I had surgery on the 20th for a torn right rotator cuff.. means they had to ruffen up the end of the shoulder and sew little threads into it to reattach the cartlidge. I'll be off work at least 1 month and any heavy lifting for a year while it re=graffs. I have some heavy drugs to take for pain especially during therapy to make the arm rotate again.. that started monday! luckily my surgeon is trained on atheletes and not retirees.. he knows i need to get back to fests and faires! my daughter and last next of kin I trust is moving to japan next month for 3 years and taking my sweety grandson with her. I had to have the surgery now or miss having anyone to help. .. merde. :) good note, my PTherapist is happy with my rotation and will work with me til i can move, and my daughter will get to travel over asia, close to her sister in S Korea. thanks all... i have missed yu will i got my house in order.. litrally. CHEERS!!
  2. sounds tasty! and I just happen to have several bags of frozen cranberries and an extra bottle of vodka/rhum.
  3. congrats to you both, and may your troubles divide and your happiness double.. rum, fair winds, and best wishes!!
  4. I just saw this post, but I was going to offer blood if you needed it. I havnt been able to give blood in the last year due to cancer, but I think I can give now. We can donate blood to offset the cost of blood (or at least you used to be able to) for your son. you have my prayers and wishes for a quick and complete recovery. I belive laughter is good for this-- get some DVD's he likes and play them. Physical therapy might suggest PC games to improve his hand and arm strength.. good luck my friend, and may angels watch over you.
  5. I do love English and Scottish accents, a soft burr in my ear does wonders to my spirits. French and Spanish dont tickle my fancy as much, but I knew an Aussie and a Russian that could read the phone book and melt a womans defenses.
  6. I thought the other place pirates go is "I HOP".. good place in Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs is Castaways, all sea theme and a great lower meeting room.. yar!
  7. terminator.... not to be confused with exterminator.
  8. welcome to the pub.. good little hangout fer all sorts of peeps.. rascalls and ruffians abound!
  9. welcome aboard, what ever your moniker is.. tis a good place for rascals and ruffians, who ever they may be..
  10. welcome to the best hangout for the worst pirates!! ( I mean that in a GOOD way) If all goes as planned, I'll be in CO 4th of July weekend, hoping to make it to the CO ren faire.... will you and your loverly wifey be there abouts? If not, buy me a Pirates Blush from RAY.. best bartender ever, he never uses his fingers to stir your drink.. (pirates blush-- capt and cranberry juice) good to have you aboard!
  11. looking forward to seeing you too, Krys.. Dubuque is special to me and one of the prettiest cities in Iowa and the oldest.. I will have my tent there too, and maybe room for you if things turn busy and your tent doesn't work.. I will try to be there last Friday and will need help with my center pole.. I am doing the Relay for Life friday night, 1 year anniversary that Friday. (woohoo) I would suggest you bring a smallish cooler and your own water. There are porta potties but not much else in the locked area. Merrydeath, one of the Unholy Three female pirates at Dubuque River Museum fest
  12. the rugs at Menards were on sale about a month ago for $29 with rebate, like I told LadyB.. without rebate they are $34 and have persian style and very simple styles... also check out Target patio rugs for woven ones like reeds..
  13. twilight..... it had to be mentioned sometime.
  14. camping is by permission only, you have to ask the event organizer to stay on grounds. Also, to get into the event you have to be on the invite list or pay to get in.. you cant just go and get into the bash and museum. The grounds and tents are locked up at night then opened 8 in the am.. it sounds like a nice family fest; no vendors yet, they wanted to see what they could do with simply first. if you can make it, SeaRover and Bess, let me know and I can see about adding you to the invites... plenty of hotels there or just a few miles down the road on Dodge.
  15. there were a few things wrong at the fest, but having gone to 4 fests/faires this year already, its not that unusual. Some things were done very right, including helping the pirates there with PW Buccs. They came too late to help much, but I do like the idea of a nod that you helped and 'here, have a sandwich for your trouble" the picture sets were grand, thanks Moon Howler for that! and for providing so many pretty things for the fest. Davey and all of the Invasion, we got to blow things up, set someone on fire, lose a hatchet in the bay, and get the Governer in a skirt.... not bad on most counts! Dean, I can bet you spent many a sleepless night working on all sorts of things.. Cheers to ya! Kim, I have to give you Kudos for trying this year after year.. I did sometihing similar and its not always fun. Its like giving birth; a lot of trouble and pain, and you aren't really sure you want to do it, but things work out in the end.. Calico Krys, you did a bang up job getting help to show up.. you jumped in at the last minute, and its not an easy job for anyone... remind me to buy you someting cold and wet! anyone else who helped make the fest such a grand experience.. cheers to you too! Fools Gold Crew--- very proud of all of you, whether you helped with the vendor tables, the articles, or just being around and talking to the patrons... Cheers and rum to you all!
