  1. This is True ~ Re-enacting CAN be Dangerous. I Don't agree with building in additional ways to get hurt, instead of planning for a more universally attainable level of realism. Hawkyns, sir ~ you are Extraordinary in your level of commitment and detail, and I mean No Disrespect. However, I too would like to play ~ safely. Trust is a difficult thing ~ intentions go wrong, and flesh is weak ~ what was meant to be no more than a "Martial Arts bruise" might dislocate my artificial hip. There will always be those that have the ability to go above and beyond ~ and so they should. However, I think this idea was meant to be more inclusionary, for everyone.
  2. You can't! He's sending it all to me! (Anyone missing a wooden brown mug should report to the Surgeon's dark, dank surgery on the bottom deck of the Mercury.) He called me last night at 12:30am (at Mary's behest! Do you people not have jobs?) to tell me he was going to send me the pewter one too, despite the fact that I already explained (three times!) that I had found mine in my stuff! I am So sorry about that! Not that I truly had that much to do with it ~ ("Quick! Call Mission! I've lost my hearing!" via Bilgemunky Chat. Leading to "His phone is ringing. Did you hear that?") Well... OK, maybe a little. But you said you were bored at work anyhow, right? And besides, No, I don't have a job! Not that I can sleep at night anyhoo.
  3. Pout You mean I have to Wait a Whole Year to see you again?
  4. I may have a soloution if we can get enough interest. "What if..." I put together a small home-made trailer from salvage parts, lash on as many poles as is safe to do so, then; we start a relay from here to there with people that can meet and exchange the trailer . Each person pulls it a little further along until it makes it to Harry at the fort? Feedback? Bo I would be interested in said arrangement, if Harry is willing to store the poles. That would solve a tent issue for myself, and, I should think, a number of others.
  5. Eh? Willie? Wet cat? Note to self ~ Must have Ears Checked. Again. Or simply mustn't walk in during the midst of conversation. Wanders off ~ to find Hubby.
  6. Don't take it personal... My posts were an attempt to divert a discussion on another thread to a thread I thought was more appropirately titled... My attempt failed, and the conversation is now best left where it was. Were you expecting some inappropriate comments amount your wife? Or perhaps a critique on your excellent handiwork? I can do either or both if you would like! You mean she didn't see? Oh look, a bird ~
  7. OK ~ that looks Much better, IMHO ~ more like slops, or unbanded Dutch breeches.
  8. My compliments to you all for the wonderful photos ~ your hard efforts and natural skill are a wonderful record of the event.
  9. Interesting! Nice to note the warm welcome offered, in way of a meal.
  10. They are truly ugly... to much lace and ribbon bows... they look like a skirt...... go about half way down this page, and there is an example... http://www.clotheslinejournal.com/splendor.htm Pissst.... you will probably be happier with Venetians or Dutch Slops... they don't look as God-awful weird.... Ugh ~ Patrick, thank you for clarifying what they are. Really quite awful, if the sketch is anywhere close to reality. Like a weird, bastardized form of ruffled underwear. Though it is interesting to note the blurring of the sexes in costume throughout history ~ men as fops, women in riding habits...
  11. A very Happy Birthday to you, sir!
  12. I like that one ~ no offense, Captain, but don't we have enough FBs to keep track of? We are going to have to start numbering them!
  13. Silkie ~ we are 10 minutes from O'Hare ~ give a call, we'll pick you up.
  14. Another wonderful image, Captain ~ is this English? Have you found anything on the quilted jackets for social use?
  15. Myself, as well. Any idea why women's ear-rings were not counted?
  16. Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy, Financially Stable 2009. Would love to meet more of you ~
  17. And here I was thinking it was just me.... Marlboro Man Kenneth
  18. Very nice pic, Duchess! So nice to be able to associate the name with a face ~ Mission ~ you look positively Relaxed! And, not a bottle of mead in sight! What Were you doing? (BTW ~ you look Cute!) It is too bad we didn't know you back then ~ I think we were at that event. I'll have to go check the ticket stubs.
  19. Lovely ~ very nice workmanship, as well.
  20. From what I recall reading, the quilted jackets and sleeved jackets were a form of undress ~ for lounging at home, privately or in the company of immediate family.
  21. SO agreed! Love that outfit, in the most terrible way. There are a few Japanese anime that work for Steampunk ~ Steamboy being one of them. And don't forget the Cyan game ~ Myst (books based on the game also available) and Obsidian.
