  1. I have an umbrella with a sword in it and you would never ever know and I take it everywhere. You have to push the tip to the ground, twist the handle while pushing a button and then push and pull.......I even hand it to Security and tell them it's a sword umbrella, they laugh, put it through the machine, hand it back and I go on my way.... but I wouldn't take it in a courthouse....

  2. Poor Cutthroat Island....I like the movie very much and it was filmed in a time when pirates had no luster, so I always give the movie a little extra credit. Disney took no risks in Making PoTC, the title alone carried the first movie. Spurs, Gina's cheesy acting, Capt Doggs Sword fish cutlass, all very Hollywood, but at least they portrayed Port Royal in a correct manner. Then all the little details were much more thoughtful, like along the docks with men hanging in Irons..All the ships, the background scenes, all the extras...And i'm sure they didn't have a ton of green screens around them at all times, plus the stuntmen really did the stunts.

  3. I have a fur felt cocked hat and I love it.

I have a wool felt cocked hat and I love it.

My beaver felt cocked hat is very heavy, hot in the summer, but perfect for winter, easy to work and re shape. The only con is it's thick, bulky and heavy on my head and makes my neck sore wearing it all day. If I lost my beaver felt hat I would feel sick to my stomach, if I lose my Wool felt hat, I'll just order another blank and not even sweat it....

Oh..The fur felt makes my head itch too.

I prefer my Wool Felt over my fur felt....

I stretch the brim of my blanks all the time....I wet em and pull. Just don't stretch the bandline at the bottom of the blocking or you'll have to re block the hat....I use Armor All to stiffen mine, but you can buy the fancy stiffener....hope this helps

  4.   Granted, if anyone of you truly knows me I do have one hell of a shoe fettish...( )....

    Me too!

 My word...tell me you don't have four pairs of Manolo Blahniks in your closet too, Kenneth!?!

Um.....................................no. Mine wouldn't be in the purchase, but rather the "Observing" of the said shoe. Example. You wearing the Manolo Blahniks, then me fainting. It's my curse!

  5. Awsome photo Lily!!

If you buy that capeline from hat supply, you'll have to block it.

    Jacky Tar,

The hat I'm wearing is a JasTownsend blank(I'm pretty sure Jas buys their capelines from Hat supply and blocks them) and I stretched the cape about an inch more on the front and made it an oval, then cocked the front profile so the back is shorter than the front....then I sprayed it down with 4 billion gallons of Armour All so It's so stiff I can chop wood with it!

    Rumba.....you made me blush...

  6. Thanks everyone for the compliments!

    Captain Pogue,

The vest I made from a striped silk/Wool suiting material (don't know the proper term) the stripes are about and inch and a half wide. If I see material I like, I'll just buy it. As long as it's heavy and thick, I'll know i'll enjoy working with it....And my shoes? Yup those are the Hushpuppies gone pirate!

    Red Cat Jenny,

I'm not sure on slop lengths..Chris researched so I'm sure his would be maybe more correct (any experts out there?) I made my slops with long pant legs and them cut them off, stiched the edged so they would look pretty, sanded em and them squirted em with coffee in a spray bottle. I like them longer myself.. My wrist.....I think it's my cuff..but underneath the cuff I'm wearing a Rolex, can you see it? Chris tells me it's not period..... it is a submariner! How much more sea worthy can a time piece be?

These pics were from our local museum. We have a Pyrate camp for our Safe Halloween. This year we had 12,000 people go through our camp in two days, there were 16 of us and what a rush...I'll post pics up of our camp soon!

  8. Bummer Post........

I don't know why I keep bothering.... the local costume contest..... the winner was the babe with the big tits wrapped in crepe paper ... will sorta wrapped..... sure she had a nice butt ....... but heck.....

OH well.... life in a small town..........

My wife and myself won second place in a costume contest this year!! Whoo Hoo!! We beat out the half naked women and lost first place to a guy dressed in a $15 dollar penguin outfit...he was a cute little fella...

  9. I didn't think the term "Hollywood pirate" was a negative thing? I thought it meant you've added a little BANG to your look and made your kit more exciting and fun to look at while still keeping a historical aspect, but not worrying if everything is exactly period.

I don't care what your wearing, if someone says something mean about other people, then they're just a dick, period.

  10. The "Black and White" can seem so cutting! Perhaps if I put (just joking) at the end of my last post, you'd all be at ease?

Mad Cap, it's alright! We forgive you! (just joking) Excuse me while I pull me head out me arse.....

  11. Thank you guys for the kind words!! And yer all welcome to come have a pint whenever your in Bakersfield!!

Capt Jim: I might just throw some taps in there.....now you got me thinking...I could put one in right in here somewhere!!
