  1. Aye, Jamaica Rose. I've just received my copy of "Under the Black Flag" and am pouring over it as we speak. And Privateers, as I understand it, were what many Pirates were, before they became pirates... The fine line between sanctioned and unsanctioned misbehaviour... Is that somewhat accurate?
  2. Edited for PG rating... Quill, can't you play hookie or something?
  3. Pirate needs to retrieve his camera...
  4. I stand corrected, and offer my sincerest appologies to the Port Royal Privateers.
  5. It goes without saying... for those of us landlocked... we'll be expecting to see some of Quill's fine photojournalism and reporting of the events.
  6. You can rent a smoke machine... might look like fog... but you;d need electricity.. Maybe dry ice... Hell of a ship you got for your money, Quill!
  7. I'm still in Pirating 101. For my birthday, a couple of friends (who think I've gone over the deep end on this whole pirate thing) gave me a couple of books, which have already been mentioned: The Pirate Hunter, The True Story of Captain Kidd by Richard Zacks Under The Black Flag by David Cordingly Now, the cover of Under The Black Flag has a Skull with a shiny gold tooth... hmmm...
  8. There's nothing better in the world than watching a man work...
  9. Ahem, well, uh, that's not necessarily true...
  10. Fine looking couple, Artemis. You're a lucky man, and she's a lovely lass!
  11. Let's see. My mouth is gagged. My blade is confiscated. My hands are bound. I'm 1300 miles inland... And my blood is boiling...
  12. Pirate, one of us needs to keep a clear head at the moment. Since it's not me, it needs to be you.
  13. Just went to the great big effort to see what all the fuss was about. Visited the Port Royal Privateers website. Got a few observations and comments of my own, of course... 1. Damn! That's a whole lotta rules and regulations for a pirate outfit! Seemed counter-intuitive to me at first! I thought pirates had a blatant disregard for rules and regulations. I thought that's why they're called 'pirates.' But upon further reflection, I bet those Rules are written for a darn good reason, and I'm sure a great deal of thought was put into them. I admire that. A lot! 2. That 'Witch of Wood' is one amazing Ship! I would enjoy very much the opportunity to see her in person. 3. The choice of paint color and lettering style used on "Witch of Wood" is eyecatching! 4. Feelin' piraty all of a sudden. Thinkin' hard on filling out an application for membership into the Guild. Would love to join all of you, Witch though I am! 5. Pirating by "Board & Committee" just seems very appropriate, given that it takes a great deal of effort to organize a bunch of pirates. Without rules, there would be nothing to break! Suffering from 'Pirate Envy' and wish I could join in the fun!! Blessed be Rosalinda
  14. AAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH... maybe I'll just head for the Quarter instead of the West Coast...
  15. Don't know, but I reckon The Royaliste hates being out of the water. Did she moan a lot?
  16. You used the wrong emoticon! And I don't know what a pocket swivel is! And I think I'm derailing this thread....
  17. Grace, at least you've done it once, now. Each time should be a little easier. Sounds like it was wicked fun! *sigh*
  18. Getting The Royaliste over the Continental Divide would be the hard part... would be smooth sailing after that... I have a pond in the front yard... Now THAT would be a sight!
  19. And the gumbo... I'm a freak for the gumbo. Great food in NOLA... world class.
