  3. Actually had nothing to do wih me personally . . . just an observation. and how many times will you be rattlin off that list of information to the next pirate who shows an interest.
  4. Capt Jim & William, Yes I know it's not period but would do wonders to boost your rolls is have some national press coverage as well as a documentary filming of the prep through the event. And for those money makin pirates out there could help your purses as well. (just a thought) HMMM . . . Most notible pirate of public affairs. Now thats a title.
  5. If I may be so bold as to interject for a moment . . . this thread is quite inspiring and no greater undertaking has ever been attempted. That being said and in consideration of your desire to beef up your population you may wan't to consider what I will call here the "overwhelming factor". It may prove to be challenging to get new members due to the over whelming nature of rules (guidlines) and requirements. perhaps a new member welcome kit outlining minimums vrs advanced player so that each new pirate will know and feel compfortable (welcomed if you will) with where they fit in. (just a thought)
  6. (thinking outloud) Wonder if there was ever a jewish pirate?
  7. Thomas Edison, while his inventions have proved useful, was not the giant genius and world-saving inventor that people make him out to be. He was an anti-Semite; he was a real ba$tard to work for; he regularly stole ideas from other scientists and inventors; he demanded that any ideas that originated from his workers be credited to him; he was conceited and arrogant; he was obsessed with money, and he had an excellent PR team behind him. There were scores of scientists and inventors working simultaneously on the same inventions, and it's mainly through luck, coupled with some ingenious industrial espionage, that he "stumbled" upon the great majority of them. In short: the typical persevering businessman. So what your saying then is because he was a human who exibited human flaws his accomplishments are thereby less significant. Sorry laddy I am having a really hard time understanding what one has to do with the other. Character - which is what your alluding too . . .I believe. Has very little to do with with the ability to see a obsticle through to resolution or conclusion. This is actually typical of the modern geo political media machine. God forbid we acknowledge and respect someone for their accomplishments without first pointing out all the awe sh*ts it took to achieve those accomplishments. No ofense intended to you BTW.
  8. aye for one am trying to cut back on truth.
  9. I for one am quite happy Thomas Edison did not quit after his first week of trying to invent the light bulb.
  10. The U.S. is doing the most in terms of polution control and china is doing the most in terms of creating polution. Experts are saying that if the entire globe went into sink now it would take 10,000 years to affect permanent changes. OK who's depressed show of hands plaese.
  11. I see's it this way - either ye be all in or ye be all out. Should you have a mind to send the rum along to yer mates the best to be hoped for is remembrence in your time of need.

This outfit is in truth twice the price of any Carlisle sells but it is custom made for me and is gauranteed to last. I'll post pics when I get it. be sure to look for me at PIP.
  21. I grew up in Southern California in the 70's and from 4th grade on most kids and their parents were doing it. When I got to Jr High I started seeing it's effects on peoples lives. It's never something I did or had a desire to do but I do know what a pot plant looks like and I can smell it from a hiundred yards away.
