  1. That's a sad state of affairs. Everywhere I go, there be females who love Jack Sparrow and be wanting a real pirate, at least for a night. Captain - do you live aboard? This is something I've always wanted to do. I have spent nights and weekends aboard, and have lately started to do calculations for living aboard. Practical stuff like space limitations and $$$ and such.
  2. I am all the way on the opposite coast in Southern NJ. I have a 15yo son who is on a surfing conference in San Diego, staying at a Motel 6 in Carlsbad. He left on Saturday and we have not heard from him once. Now, this is not unusual as he had a new surf board made for him which was delivered to his room on arrival. And you know how it is with new toys. Oh, and California probably has real waves unlike us new jersey folks. Just thought since my son wasn't telling me, what's the weather like there. And the water temp, and the waves. He is going to surf some famous beach there - the wedge - if he has the nerve and also tressels.
  3. I wonder what all our real pirates get to thinking whenever we females start sighing over a movie pirate. I should think that POTC would enormously help the love lives of all the available pirates on these boards, even if it is as a substitute.
  4. Rosalinda - that's one way to get intimate with Capt. Sparrow Redhand - I saw a neat celtic mermaid. I have been doing searches under celtic. I would like to find celtic seacreatures. Hurricane - the tattoo will be painful enough without having to bare me arse. But perhaps I could come watch all ye brave pirates getting the tatts. Better yet, I could charge admission. Who here on the boards wants to watch a brave pirate crew getting their bare bums inked. How does $5. sound. I swear I'll spit the profits with ye. I promise, no cameras, LOL.
  5. Royaliste - nice work. You won't see me sporting anything so intricate (er painful). I am thinking much smaller, in the upper area between my shoulder blades. Single color. It will be nautical themed but not traditional pirate. A celtic type design (for me Irish ancestors) with a couple sea creatures entwined in it. I don't care for large tattoos on females. I have twin sons who will be turning 16 this week and they have been bugging me to give them permission for a tattoo since as long as I can remember. The one son is something of a nautical artist. He paints surf boards and misc. and has been working up sketches for the past 6 months. Well, we will see. I have wanted to do this before and always chicken out.
  6. Who has them. As far as pirates go, I have a pretty cowardly idea about receiving pain. But I really want to get me one. What do you have and on a scale from one to ten how bad did it hurt? Do you think some spots hurt more then others? I may do this while I'm at Pirates in Paradise. OK show me some pics.
  7. sorry dear, but I gets nothing but the big red x for this pic.
  8. I missed something. And what be the reason of postponing this til next summer?
  9. Can't have people calling my honey with the dreadlocks anything that might make him seem like he's not a real pirate now can I?
  10. look carefully. He doubles the chain and then tosses it over, holding onto the looped chain. I don't know if I'm explaining this clearly. Then he simply has to let go of the looped chain.
  11. Welcome I would be interested in checking out your series. I am a fan of Steven Saylor, and other historical mysteries, including several series based in or on ancient egypt. I am currently working on a historical mystery involving pirates. You will find alot of fellow writers on these boards.
  12. And I look forward to reading your title. Will it be available on book shelves, or only thru specialized presses? Being a shore town we often carry small publishers sea oriented titles.
  13. Where's the NQG list at? I am working my way thru Mark Rosenstein's list. It's time consuming but sooner or later I'll get a hit. He's listed alphabetically so you need to open each listing til you find their home port. I have been on the Meerwald here in Atlantic City. I'm thinking long term, so mainly I'm trying to pull the schedule and see when they'll be home next. Alot are heading out for Tall Ships.
  14. I be waiting for someone to post about their east coast ship, so's I can see it. There seems to be a drought here in the Jersey waters, where once there were pirates.
  15. Nice website. You must be very excited about the release. Perhaps a book tour will bring you out this way. I have been a stringer for alot of small local papers, and done some magazine work. But I'm currently working on my first novel, which is a mystery in which the person forced into the role of detective is a tavern owner in Port Royal, forced to find the real killer or likely swing herself. She is surrounded by pirates and sailers, and has spent some time at sea herself.
  16. Redvipers - tell me about your nautical fiction you write. I am a freelance writer currently working on my first project that in a way is nautical fiction. I always like to talk to fellow writers. Beautiful ship. You are lucky to live in St. Augustine, also a beautiful place. I can't wait to hear how it goes. I live in far south Jersey and would love to find a ship to sail on.
  17. I would go for something along the lines of a swashbuckling, love story with lots of adventure and beautiful footage of ships and the sea. What I picture is Indiana Jones as a pirate on sea and land. Some sort of quest with enemies you are trying to evade along the way. If you picture Indiana Jones there are moments of humor and moments of drama.
  18. This is why I was surprised to find a book printed as late as 1999 with Defoe listed as author, not as side note but as author.
  19. Careful you'll poke someone's eye out. MMM - you should look into publishing. There really is a market for this. It's easy to go in and clean a manuscript up for authenticity. As to the others, thanks I'm always looking for good reads. I'm starting the Horatio Hornblower series right now.
  20. If they be manly enough to carry the look, apparently nothing. Why JR do you be sporting locks and what all. Post a pic of your piratical look. We wants to see. On a side note, dreads are very popular here. Several of my sons friends have them, and several think they have them when what they really have is the I don't wash, brush or comb my hair nappy look. Real dreads are alot of work.
  21. Captain Sparrow alone, I think is driving up the $$$ made on this film. All the wenches seeing it 3/4/5 times. Gotta love him. And you know we'll all be buying the dvd.
  22. If ye be attending and not working, which events will you choose to go to. I've never been so tell me what's a not to miss. And how soon will these fill up and how early must I start to register for events?
  23. If only it was that easy to get Capt. Sparrow on me chest. ..... Aaaahh sigh for Johnny Depp............
  24. I really would be miserable living too far in land.
