  1. That's great! They forgot the 'I' key, though. That would make conversations possible. For example: -RRRRRR!!! -r? -RRRRRR!!! - I, RRRRRR! -OR- - r? - I!!! * * - irr... Coastie
  2. Try this one for a layout below decks of a small merchant brig. A merchant vessel is essentially what a pirate would be using. Lady Washington Layout Then there's the Lynx, a privateer from the early 19th Century. There's some good drawings on their website, as well as pictures, I'm sure. Lynx Also check out the Amistad's website. I haven't looked too closely at the site, but they seemed to have some good pictures. I believe that the Amistad was originally built as a privateer, but even as a merchant vessel it would have been good for piracy. It was often a short distance between slave trading (especially once it became illegal) and piracy. Amistad Hope this helps. Coastie
  3. Scupper, I hope your future ex is doing fine and they take that guy's license away. Hope to see you at next month's meetup. Coastie
  4. Happiest of birthdays. May the rum be strong, and the hangover weak! Coastie
  5. OK, anyone know about what time this fine duo will be on Friday? Coastie
  6. OK, I be mistaken. I was mistaking this pyrate gathering fer a different weekend. Me other third should be abeam o' me fer th' gathering. Can't wait to see your pictures, Scupper. Coastie
  7. Unfortunately, I fear I'll be sailin' single-handed this time (don't be askin' what th' other hand be occupied with-and don't check yer purse for a while, either). She be too busy travelin' an' gettin' the lay o' the land fer future plundering. Coastie
  8. I'd love to help, but unfortunately I'm not really in a position to. The best I can do is wish Capt. Gary all ye helpers luck. Hope she's back in the water where she belongs soon. Coastie
  9. I'll be doin' me best t' be there. This time, I'll actually be in garb! Coastie
  10. Name: Michael Occupation: First Mate Ship Name: The Rushing Rogue # of ships you sacked: 223 How you died: Peacefully....what kind of pirate were you? Ahem, the kind that became governor? SO THERE!!! Coastie
  11. I think what would scare them much more than anything is a group of people in modern, dark clothing armed with automatic weapons and machetes, boarding their vessel from a fast, inflatable boat. Our garb is so outdated that it would probably cause the same sort of chuckle it does here in America when some reinactor walks around Maine with a Confederate uniform on. Coastie
  12. For weekly updates on pirate activity worldwide, look at the ICC's website at http://www.iccwbo.org/ccs/imb_piracy/weekl...racy_report.asp It's rather disturbing how much happens each week. Coastie
  13. Sounds right interestin'. You couldn't by chance load a picture of that on this here website, could you? Coastie
  14. You don't need that laughing pirate at the end of each post. But intermingled works just fine too. But it is :) imperative that it be posted somewhere in the bloody message. Otherwise, we'll be havin' t' keel haul you and murder your family whilst sipping rum an' being generally roudy. Coastie
  15. You can try listening to Tom Lewis. He's got some good ones. Coastie
  16. Fair sailin' and prosperous plundering. Happy Birthday Royaliste! Coastie
  17. Just figured I'd put the word out here that on Thursday, 22July, there is a parade of tall ships pulling in to New London, CT. The ships that have been confirmed as attending are: Eagle (USA) Cuauhtemoc (Mexico) Tenacious (United Kingdom) Mircea (Romania) Iskra (Poland) Cisne Branco (Brazil) Pogoria (Poland) Picton Castle (Cook Islands) Bluenose II (Canada) A.J. Meerwald (USA) Amistad (USA) Grand Nellie (USA) Puinnipiak (USA) Sound Waters (USA) Clearwater (USA) They will be in New London until Sunday, 25July. I know the members of Free Men of the Sea will be there at least on Sunday, but I was wondering who else is planning to attend and when? Hope to see some of you there. Coastie
  18. Another good internet source for sea shanties is www.chivalry.com/cantaria They've got a selection of folk music, including sea shanties. Many of the songs have a full version of the lyrics, but all have at least a couple of verses sung. Coastie
  19. Ahh, but mildew would just add to the authenticity, I'd think Hope at least some of it's salvagable, though. Coastie
  20. I should be able to make it (pending a ride or use of a car), though unfortunately without my garb. Hope to meet many of you there. Coastie
  21. Birthed in Bellevue, WA (across the lake from Seattle). I berth on the Lady Washington in many o' her ports, as well as some other random tall ships as able, but am currently in New London, CT teachin' young swabbies how t' sail. Coastie
  22. Heartiest of congrats. However, this will mean that on Father's day you'll be givin' gifts to her. Coastie
  23. I'll have to look out for "White Stockings Day". Hopefully next time I'm home on leave I'll be able to drop on by again. The singing was great, by the way Coastie
