Trust me Lady B... marriage isn't everything. Tis hard work to keep it going and finding that right person that is willing to make it work is difficult indeed.
Ye need to find yer nitch in life that makes ye happy whether tis with someone special or all on yer own. Don't think that finding that right person will be the cure all for life or being single... sometimes remaining single is the best way. Don't get me wrong, I love my spouse, but like any married person can tell you, the journey hasn't always been easy.
Some folks are just better off single...fall in and out of love when you can, and if it happens, be ready to spend a vast majority of your time working hard to make it last because real life always interfers.
Look at poor Sterling in Port Royal, he's been looking for someone to love and be loved by for years, instead he's just a convenience for others, when they want him around, they make sure he knows it, but if they don't, the thought of him doesn't even cross their minds. If he would give up on this wild quest and just concentrate on his own life and forget about finding the "right woman", he'd be a much happier bloke. He lives and operates under the misconception that when he finds the right person, his life will be perfect. Not so... everyone's own right person is themselves, if someone else enters the picture sometimes that can be a real blessing and sometime it can be absolute hell. So concentrate on you for awhile and not everyone else.
