Favorite moments in re-enacting
Capt. Sterling replied to Capt. Bo of the WTF co.'s topic in Beyond Pyracy
Way back when, while we were still doing Rev. War Dragoons, we were at a big event at Ft. Devon, Mass. Well dad's horse decided to rear and flip over backward... Dad seemed alright but had actually cracked a few ribs... immediately he and the corporal, still in full 18th century kit, head on down to the base's infirmary... while they are sitting awaiting their turn, a real sgt. comes in with a batch of new recruits fer their physicals...the sgt. takes one look at Dad and Bill(the corporal) and shakes his head, turns to the new recruits and promptly says..."sorry boys looks as if we have one hell of a long wait..." -
**looking around to make sure the Mistress isn't about** That's my girl Nell!!

and Maddogge will just keep climbing the fence... and ye might want to make that 6am instead of 7...some of us get up early or at least we should

Not anything against the staff Harry, but the one night when the beach bathrooms were left locked after closing, and no one from camp could use them, they weren't cleaned either... the mess there was left from the beach crowd and who ever was responsible for cleaning and reopening them that night... every other night, when they were reopened on time, there was no mess, and I never found a mess in the morning... now granted I don't go in both bathrooms all the time, but if the kids are going over late at night, I will step in and make sure things are safe...

THAT'S why I am captain of the whole boat, not just the marines....sniggering... The ladies hear the Archangel crew is making port and they start lining up at the docks....
-
Aye but de Dogge is a captan as well, ye'd think he would understand... although I would love to see the crowd yelling "well let go ya dummy", and now that he's fed me that line, aye, I would be the first to shout it...
-
Again, I think this is something else where we can all kick in..... I am more than happy to take shifts to tell people where the heck to be. Something in my sweet disposition makes them listen or think I'm going to clock them...so I have a feeling that would work. :) With that said, I would like to fire from time to time so I don't want to be the only one doing this, but I can do a shift and also volunteer some of my crewe to do this. We took care of this on our own during our fire show Friday night. We told 1-2 of our crewe to keep the crowd behind a line (since we can't see them when we're spinning fire) and it worked just fine. We just need to have people on point who know this is their job. Hmmm if folks aren't listening though... and I did notice kids on the wall, which also becomes a risk if they fall off into the moat... a rope might do the trick, especially up on the fort wall... out in the field, they would most likely stay put... with just crowd control...perhaps a loud, and very large gun crew closer to the crowds to lend a hand if the folks aren't listening...

remind me to kill ye the next time I see ye...

Wow... that would be impressive! I mean, consider the shoulders on Dogge and the size of him.... oh wait... the guy on the plane already mentioned that.... :) I would say poor Dogge, but I gave him complete credit for being able to rile the crowd and send the rush through the crowd that got the mob mentality going, but what I say obviously doesn't count for crap (I figure if he gets to be pouty, I might as well be too...) Marines... in one ear and out the other
-
**slapping forehead** Ye bloody horse marine... RAPE first! Then the women are happy and don't care what ye take....
-
Believe it or not, when just hauling fer me and the snotties, I can actually fit everything in the durango(and on it)...(although now that I acquired some barrels will have to take the ram) But I help out by hauling things fer the crewe sometimes.... since I go to almost all the events, it would make sense fer me to eventually get another trailer and just haul crewe members' stuff as well... tis nice to have the fancy furniture, but in most cases I wonder if pirates would have all that stuff and why bother taking it off the ship in the first place unless yer careening her... now for our civilians some pieces would make a whole lot of sense... but perhaps not campaign furniture... right then, I'm being ar again
-
Relax, de Dogge, I'm sure we have a pair of shackles that will fit Stynky... and now that we have the pillory, we no longer need to worry about finding the right tree... and just think the pillory seats two... so next year William can have some company.... ...and ye know it wasn't my tent, nor our crewe, because they burned first instead of raping, then looting, fer the women were the first to the fire, and they were fine... and look at all the wonderful stuff still left on the table... no this is the typical shoddy work of the Mercury crew.... and of course the Bonies couldn't of done it, as even though, they were living right next to us, they couldn't find the camp.... IF IT WERE our crewe that done it, there would have been no women present at the fire, fer they would have been in the tents sighing in pleasure and happy beyond belief and dreaming of the next rape, there would be nothing left on the table and in fact there would be no table, maybe just some ashes to show we'd been there...
-
He meant "you" as in the ENTIRE crewe... now to do that little trick Pern created, stick ones fingers in their ears and walk away saying "la, la, la, la, la..." besides IF ye re write the show, I will get even MORE credit, for being a tall drink of water, but no waif, and YET still being able to lift ye off the ground... I can just hear it now... Wow Sterling that was some hanging... we can't believe you could hoist Maddogge up that high... how did you do it?? You were fantastic...
-
Hell, I HATE my tent, the only thing that it is good for is that fact that it does indeed help shelter all them wot have no place to stay in the crewe... If I could get a grand fer it, I'd sell it in a heartbeat... and get a smaller tent like Dutch's and then I would have a tremendous amount of space, because I don't haul around half the shite that Dutch does...
-
wasn't heavy at all, the snotties could carry it, of course they would complain a blue streak, but they could carry it
-
And why, Mr. Roberts, would we be wantin a no good pyrate quartermaster to be settin up our camp? That bastard will have us camped right next to the port-a-loos...
-
Ye call it Spike, tis yers and Harry's show... just tell us what ye would like and we shall see if we can make it work, and then again, Maddogge can make just about anything work...he's that good.
-
Excited...two more days of work and then I get to make patterns, corsets, suites... all stuff for the crewe... and aye, I actually am honestly excited about it... I need my head examined...
-
I can certainly understand the use of ropes at certain events... space is tight and if there were no ropes, the reenactors would never get a break as the public would be in their faces and camps at all times, but I agree PiP would lose something if there were ropes, although If we could come up with some sort of separation from the beach, as Harry suggested, which would channel the beach folk in such a way we could "police" them better... it would take some of the stress off...something that could easily be removed after the beach crowd goes home... and we were camped along the path... just some folks needed to hog the view....
-
there is a lovely repro Stuart table about an hour from here....problem it doesn't fold flat
-
Just tie one door shut...easy enough
-
Um I would caution here, I noticed a number of times when both tent doors were open that tourists were sometimes a little too interested in checking out what was in the tent... which made it hard to police things... I would recommend setting things up in a way that might "force" folks to follow a designed flow, that doesn't look like it was designed that way... for security reasons...

I like the way ye think...
