I saw the demo at Gen Con this past August and it looked great!
-
I have seen it in Borders too! It was near Ren Magazine and Fairie Magazine. Books a Million might handle remainders and overstock books and may not carry this little gem.

She was spanking hot!

So Mad Jack is in the Queens Pub and he's had a couple tankards full. He's half talking to me when he notices this very attractive blond chewing on a turkey leg. Mad Jack makes eye contact and she offers him some "Meat". Jack is a married pirate, a respectful person, and a little caught off guard. I ask the young lady if she's offering her "bone" , she replies that if she gives me her "bone" would I consider giving her mine. Jack is then reunited with dear friend who introduces him to his sister, who is holding the turkey leg. Jack in on his knees laughing in the pub. His friend has no idea what just happened. The sister is full of turkey and doesn't want the meat to go to waste. Mad Jack has tears in his eyes. Of all the people to meet. Mad Jack: Your friend has a hot sister. Yeah she was being flirty and dirty. I hope she comes back! Don't you?

The Pirate Magazine that we all spoke of long ago is on stands now. I found my copy at Barnes and Noble under the topic of "entertainment". I looked at first under history topics where I found Fairy Magazine and Ren Magazine. Near Starlog, Entertainment, and TV Guide was where I located it. On first glance it looks pretty good. Now the big question is: will it last?

Look for us when next you attend MRF Merrydeath.

Italian Carnival Labor Day weekend. Remember MRF is open Sat, Sun and MONDAY! I also might pick a fight with an Italian Comedian. Ol' Jib with a cutlass and dagger vs. the comic with a long sword and cape. I wonder who will win?
-
Big Thanks to Merry Death (hang on lass, it's darkest before the dawn), Red Bess, and Sea Rover for joining us at MRF this past weekend. It's nice to put faces with posters on the site. Missed Mad Jack however. What happen to you laddie?
-
The winners get candy not rum. You'd be sadly disappointed.
-
How about that VD and mercury treatment? If one doesn't get you the other does.
-
So MerryDeath, what is this about warm hands and cold ice? Don't you fear pickle juice?

As of Thursday I have heard a rumor that I may be needed to judge the "Perfect Pirate" contest for kids (Sorry Mad Jack!) at 1:30 PM which is about the same time that we line up for parade. I'm going to try and have the Captain or another pirate in the crew take this task so I can get back to the Arbor and lead all willing pirates in the parade. Of course things can change. I wear a big old red coat so if you see me just ask and I'll give you as many details as I have.
-
Once again, Hurricane if you need any help just give me a shout. And if your group has you covered that's great too! Post more details and prices as they emerge!
-
Right now I'm thinking of having everyone who is interested in marching in the parade meeting behind the Arbor Stage at 1:30 ish. I may have a show obligation and so I'm not certain where I will be. I know I have a show right after parade so I can only assume that "The Powers that Be" will schedule me with 5 minutes to get from show to parade. So word of warning, if old Jib lets you down don't be a 'hater'.

Funny thing about the new "Pirates Cove" was that it was built by patrons of the faire with no knowledge of the management. If that isn't a great example of piracy I don't know what is! The Bloodwake pirates are just great fun!
-
Don't forget that the MRF features a pirate themed weekend on August 26th and 27th. You may see a handsome rogue in the promotional pictures that looks rather like my avatar. The parade could also use some playtron pirates if you are interested.

If I was you folks I would complain to the management. Seriously, write up a polite but detailed and professional letter. I bet that the security group that Bristol uses isn't part of the cast. Rather a "rent a Nazi" group that the faire contracts. You may have your insults addressed. Then again maybe not... Honestly guys, in Minnesota we don't allow bare feat either. Way too much crap on the ground that can open up a bare foot. Our Hobbits cover the bottoms of thier feet with mole skin for protection. I know you guys would never sue if you were injured at a faire while bare footed but today so many stupid people will sue for just about anything (tobacco causes cancer/ hot coffee is HOT/ power tools used in the shower/ etc). Sorry it was such a hassle.

The Captain and Management keep me sober during the days at MRF. However I will stop in at Mac's Pub and I do the parade every day. You can also check out the Pyrates of Portobello who will be on assorted stages at some time, shape, and form.

I hit Bristol Faire on the first weekend of August and had a great time. I enjoyed the Dreadnaught but it might not be for everyone. It was small and short and at the cost of $5.00 a person. For some folks the period ship might be avoided and beverage purchased in replace of it. The grouonds looked great and the streets looked active with characters from the 1500's. This faire also has unique fantasy characters like a living statue and assorted elemental fey. My only 2 complaints involved the the drum jam (when did it become standard to yell and scream in drum jam? I think this was just the patrons but you never know) and Little John as he complained about the large numbers of pirates when he walked by (Hey John, didn't you notice that Bristol is even marketing a pirate theme? Stupid Maggot Pie Merry Man!)

I saw POTC 2 again over the weekend and noticed even more! Davy Jones states that he rose the Black Pearl from the sea bottom for Jack. This begs the question: Who owned the Pearl first and why is it such an important ship?
-
Why thanks Mad Jack! I love it when someone sends me a lassie! I look forward to meeting Caili.

Don't worry about old Ian. He'll be out at MRF more than you think. We shall see if we can get him to do a few sets with us (Pyrates of Portobello). The problem is that he has a new job and can't get a full day off on Saturday. He promises to be back next year full time and do the Queens Pub. So my advice is keep a weather eye open for Ian as he wanders the streets of MRF.

Yeah that kidney belt is sweet. I'd like to do something like that to give me a little support when I do stage fights. It also looks like you could hang alot from it. Have any of you ever seen those little brass/ steel lions that have a ring in the mouth that are often punched into leather belts to hang items from? Those on a kidney belt would be close to heaven!

I climbed up on the kiddie pirate ship last year at Bristol. I must have had over 30 parnets hand me thier children so we could take a picture. My wife thought this was very entertaining since she refused to wear her faire attire and coaxed me into playing with the kids. I had one little boy with a wooden sword who refused to let a pirate ont he ship and threatened to "kill" me should I attempt to board (which I did anyway much to the cheers of other kids). I must say I admired his pluck for sticking by his words "I'll never be a pirate". Of course give him 15 years and we'll see if he changes his mind...

Dark haired, dark eyed Spanish maidens with tanned skin and big fake boobs. I married a blond, that fantasy is filled.
