  1. I might make an appearance at some point.
  2. I've had training with a blade and my father used to take me hunting. That being said I'm a poor shot with a gun. I am pretty good with the blade and at least fair with my bare fists.
  3. Don Maitz styled art in the home section. It was near the area where you might choose a boarder to decorate a childs room (sorry Cascabel but you are 'child friendly'). I think I might have seen a Braze sticker too!
  4. I'm at Target in the home section and I look up and see Cascabel! Well it was a Don Maitz illustration featuring a spot-on illustration of Cascabel. If you plan to decorate a room these might be fun for you!
  5. I hope to see you too Deadbishop (master of the photograph).
  6. I also tend to be dog tired at the end of the day and jumping about with a heavy cutlass on my hip just doesn't seem like fun. But I do like to watch and listen!
  7. They mention them being used to fire buildings and perhaps in combat. The context is pretty vague.
  8. Love to see both Red Bess and Sea Rover (and kids?) at MRF again this season!
  9. Too bad about the pistol MD. I was under the assumption that she gave it back to you at the restaurant. A shame, it was a beauty!
  10. A found a mention of pirates in Henry Morgan's crew/ army using Bows in the Panama raid in Empire of Blue Water. Is this possible?
  11. Do you suppose that humans have something hard wired into them that attracts them to the beat of drums? I myself can not drum. But I like to listen and watch.
  12. I have a fellow who wants to try and repair it. Honestly I think it's too weak but I won't loose anything if he fails. I like the idea of 'steel'.
  13. A keeper for POTC chapter book fans (dare I call them "Tweens"?).
  14. MD I'd love to see you! If you can make it let me know! Of course I plan to be back at MRF this summer! No singing this year just lots of fun!
  15. I seem to remember someone on these forums (maybe GOF) had a tool for making Hard Tack. Someone else mentioned that it was half bad but he liked to eat nuts. Bread=nuts. I'd say that's bad!
  16. Thanks Sir Henry! So far Empire is a fine read. I like how the author details what else is going on in the world at the same time. Nice perspective.
  17. I need something pewter colored.
  18. Love Tigers stuff! The calanders are great!
  19. Finished the book last night and it does include a few tid bits about AWE. It confirms in part what Lady Barbossa has been stating that Jack freed a slave ship and earned Beckets wrath. It mentions a few other ideas that help to fill in holes in the movies. While not a great book it was fun! If you enjoy the movies (Give them a rating of 6+ out of 10) then this book is for you.
  20. I always notice that people dance with reckless abandon. Even those who would otherwise not join in can be coaxed into the hot, sweaty, jumble of bodies dancing before a circle of drums.
  21. I suppose they need new pieces of of eight also...
  22. I'm about half way through the book. It is a campy blend of movie trivia and history (enough to make those who favor Captain Twill fight'n mad!). Details include a few examples of knots and the parts on a ship.
  23. Taking a few members of the crew to the Bristol Faire on August 11th and maybe the 12th. Any chance we'll see any of you?

    Armor?

Spanish soldiers are often shown in illustrations wearing breast plates and helms during land battles pre-GAOP. Might there be historical data that involves pirates in armor during a shore raid?
  25. Sir Henry if you have more books about Capt. Morgan that you think make a good read feel free to add them. I like the period right before the "Golden Age" slightly better than GOAP.
