  1. Some more crossing blades with..... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070302/ap_on_...f_sword_fight_1
  2. And Lady Alyx, the1954 verison of 20,0000 leagues featured the Mother of all 'Kraken vs. ship' scenes. From what I recall, I found the scene with the Kraken's beak far more scarier than the one in DMC with Capt' Jack.
  3. Lady bess wrote 'Whale of a Tale' was on a supplimental CD of Sea Shanties that only comes with the Walmart issue DVD of POTC-DMC.... which unfortunately does not come with the second disc of DMC bloopers, etc. I had to buy another copy of DMC elsewhere just to get disc II.
  4. mr Scabbs wrote: Methinks Longboats, and dhows, prams (whateverthey were called) were pretty heavy back then. However I think Jamie Hyneman would be afraid to ruin his mustache.
  5. I forgot. What was 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea about? The last time I swa it, I was 11, and that was in the gym of my school. On a 16mm film projector, no less! I'm talking about the original, not the re-make.
  6. Anyone know what swear words were used during GAOP? I can quote Shakespeare, but it does not seem candid and real enough. I want words that will get you locked up in the stockade.
  7. Pearl, I assume you are talking about the pic of Capt'n Jack reading No Quarter Given...not the photo of him with the kangol hat playing the telecaster? If so, that's about the most realistic Jack I've ever seen! more so than other impersonators.
  8. I lost a pair of $139 Oakley sunglasses off the coast of Boca Grande during an experiment witha rented jet-ski.
  9. sushi...of the grocery store variety. All was fine...except for the tuna maki, which made a pact with the sea.
  10. quite the picture m'lady alyx! The first photo is actually a J-200 given to him by Gibson guitar, a very rare signed Johnny Depp model, same model used by Johnny Cash. Gibson was aslo giving away an SG model with a POTC hologram decal: http://www.gibson.com/whatsnew/pressreleas...003/jul16a.html Ironically, though, he usully favors his white fender telecaster, ewhich he had out for 'the Kids' reunion.
  11. Thanks to all ye for the great advice!
  12. For any of you with the slightest inclination in boating, I ran across the most 'pyrate-friendly' sailing magazine ever to grace the seven seas, right at barnse & Noble. this month's issue of Lattitudes & Attitudes features none other than Capt'n Jack on the cover, plus some spoilers of AWE. It also features a monthly pirate report, an interview with the captain of the Lady Washington. it is also a good mix of people's sailing adventures, cooking, technical stuff...but much more passionate(in a Jack Sparrow kind of way) than clinical like Sail magazine. I don't ahev a photo website for the cover art yet, but here's the link: http://www.latsandatts.net/magazine/thisIssue/
  13. What does a typical maritime captain wear for a necktie? I would suspect that the average seaman jsut has a linen clth around his neck, but if you are the captain doring GAOP, what is considered typical?
  14. My dad's boat is not in the slip at his marina so I know he's out pirating somewhere in the Chesapeake bay. I surely wish the Bahamas and the UK would have better resolution on ther sat photos, it's so hard to see Southampton or Bristol up close.
  15. Drat! As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short.
  16. Anybody up for mentioning movie quotes? Not necessarily pirates films. This needn't be a contest either, just something that sticks in your mind. OK, The Big Lebowski: Jesus Quintana: You ready to be fucked, man? I see you rolled your way into the semis. Dios mio, man. Liam and me, we're gonna fuck you up. The Dude: Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. Jesus Quintana: Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger 'til it goes "click." The Dude: Jesus. Jesus Quintana: You said it, man. Nobody fucks with the Jesus. Walter Sobchak:.... Eight-year-olds, Dude.
  17. Lee Arenberg (the seinfeld episode where Mike (lee Arenberg) was arguing with George (jason Alexander) over a parking space.
  18. I try to bring home a bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee beans when I can afford it. Coffee in the morning /green tea in the afternoon/espresso in the evenings/insomnia at night.

    Rum

Sailor Jerry, in my opinion, is a bit like cough medicine...kind of candy-ish. If you want to learn more about rums, check the forum on ministry of rum: http://www.ministryofrum.com/ My top 5 in terms of favorite rums going down from 1-5: 1. El Dorado Special reserve (which I believe is called a "demerara") is my holy grail. This is my #1 favorite. 2. Mount Gay Extra Old ( kind of hard to find, and considered the best) it is a bit cognac-y and so smooth you don't even feel it. Makes a better sipper than a cocktail rum. Pointless for Cuba Libres (Rum&Coke) 3. Pussers 47.5 alcohol (not the 42% stuff)...this stuff is rugged and not meant to be toyed with. Claims to be the original rum for the British Navy 4. Appleton Estate V/X...best Rum&Coke mixer 5. Flor de Cana...best all-around value, authentic (l like 7 yr but the others are ok) Hope this helps.
  20. What exactly is the story of that animatroinc headless pirate-looking thing that scales a rope when you walk by Ripley's Museum in Key West? it looks so real at first..
  21. Sorry to rant once again, but These sites come to mind. Kind of a working classroom on tall ships The Kalmar Nyckel in Wilmington, Deleware are looking for volunteers...so I guess this would be close to free, no tuition: http://www.kalmarnyckel.org/learning.asp And the schooner Sultana: http://www.sultanaprojects.org/ Chesapeake Bay Skipjacks: http://www.riverheritage.org/preservation/...pjack_crew.html and a tall ships site: http://www.tallshipformidable.com/maritimelinks1.html Well...that's the East coast I know off-hand. ...at least for volunteer/learning stuff.
  22. Jolly'oOI think I misinterpreted your question. Sorry, I must have made you feel like a little kid, my apologies. I would contact a local Yacht club to see if any crew are needed. Again, I don't know where you are so I wouldnt be able to point you in the right direction.
