  1. I've been playing on Midnight for a while m'self. My pirate is named "Blydes" I'll come looking for you guys..... to join you for some fun of course.
  2. Downed a few Tarred Marlin Ciders that evening. First BBQ of the season.
  3. I've left this going too long now.... The brewery/pub is called "The Tarred Marlin" Tarred being slang for drunk. Tarred Marlin is a waxed, small gauge line used for whipping on rope work. Hence why I said that Capt. MacNamara might know.
  4. Our prices just hit $1.10CND/L at the current exchange rate of .88 USD/CND and 3.8L/USG thats.... $3.68 USD/USG And I need premium in my car (performace vehicle) at $1.18... that's almost $4/USG in your money... Canada is an oil rich country... We are a puzzled by the prices as you are.
  5. It is a marlin... that parts right as well as being drunk.
  6. It's a play on words. Something used by sailors.... Capt. MacNamara might know it
  7. I have a lable made for my brewery/pub Lets see if someone can guess what it means...
  8. I've had a beard since my days in University. The car I had at the time was an old English Ford Cortina (1969) that my father and I restored. Unfortunately, it still had mostly the Lucus electrical system. So I was having problems. It was getting into November. I also had a motorcycle. Due to the problems, I had to continue riding the bike. Since my helmet was open face (used it for car racing), my face was getting rather chilly. Grew the beard to help, and desided to keep it.
  9. You were involved with that series? wow! I loved that show! We got it here in Canada
  10. Funny that, I saw Captain Morgan saturday night roaming around downtown Halifax. He was giving out Rum samples (only in the pubs) and plastic Capt. Morgan Doubloons. Makes me want to grow the beard out and get hired on. He had all the pretty lasses wanting to get pics with the Capt. Lower Deck in Halifax, East Coaster music playing and Captain Morgan on board.... what a time! The band stopped playing so we could all "Ahoy!" the Capt and have a 'sociable' (hoisting your glass and screaming 'sociable' as long as you can, then drink)
  11. I got "Lobscouse & Spotted Dog" at Christmas. Some friends and I at the Wardroom are talking of having a Mess Dinner using a few of the courses.
  12. Well, to be unfettered gives that freedom of movement that has certain advantages in certain circumstances.....
  13. hummm... purhaps I'll send you the list for your approval? any recomendations would be welcome. May have to discuss a few back and forth though
  14. Haven't done anything too bad.... but what about a list of things I'd like to do?
  15. Was it an actual Caad? (Newf accent). That there more-ee-tory-um still be in place.... I got screeched in years back. A real hoot of a time that I don't remember the end of... Became much of a blur I just got back from Halifax. Spend some great time at the 'Lower Deck' pub singing east coaster songs. Many Keith's Pale Ales were had....
  16. "Black Wiskers" is my black Norwegian Forest cat. Much like the Mainecoone, they are fluffy. NF cats are major hunters, love the snow and are excellent climbers. He doesn't do the purch thing though.. good thing for me actually. His claws are little razors. He just brings back a couple of mice a day. He is at my Dad's place in the country. The neibours love him since he keeps the area clear of mice. At 16 seasons, he still has the nack. The boys I have at my place are a pair of Tabbies. The big orange one (Magnum) likes to ride on my shoulder. But he is getting big and heavy. He more so flows around my neck.... The gray one (Higgins) is a true RN cat. He loves curry, hotter the better and is partial to a Dark and Dirty (Rum and Coke) caught him nose deep in my flaggon on a few occations. He is also a freek who runs around like a top and climbs what ever he can find.
  17. I'll raise a pint to all the service men and women overseas. It's always low morale over holidays. When all you want to do is spend time with your family. So you spend time with your adopted family. The friends you serve with. Tell stories and hope you all get home soon. Fair winds and following seas.
  18. Having been a Navigator and taught Nav at our fleetschool, I’ve seen kids get lost after 12minutes (that’s 2 Dead Reckonings) let along 58 days.
  19. I'd always thought that her story would make a good movie.... Someone like Mel Gibson could get behind it, it's an anti-English story
  20. I'll have to check the Fenwick series.... There is an other Flashman book coming out soon. I'll re-read 'The Pyrates' every couple of years. Gets more funny each time. Last year I took it to faire (I was solo that day) and sat back by a tree with a mug of cider, a cigar and my feet up.... Very relaxing and entertaining day.
  21. Sorry to say (dawning flame retardant doublet) that it you took away the hook, he would look like some Hollywood stylized pimp from a bad cartoon.
  22. The 3&4 Musketeer movies I'm refering too are the one that were filmed together, then split for release (only Chuck Heston got paid for both). Probably the movies that were the closest to the book I've seen so far. The Return of the Musketeers was from the 2nd book (20years after) where to try to save Charles from the headsmen. You can act like a girl any time m'lady. Not enought men acting like men and ladies acting like ladies these days (I don't mean the sexist way)
  23. Happy Thanksgiving my southern friends! We had ours in October. Let the gorging begin!
  24. (William Blydes throws open the door and stomps into the pub. With his hat, he knocks off the dust from his boots and the salt from his coat. At the bar he take a flagon of rum and proceeds to jump up on the closest table. Raising his mug he announces to the assembled in a voice loud and clear) My brothers and sisters of the sea, hear me now! I have roamed across the land and sea. Searching for that one. The one that can be said to be the best looking pirate of them all! What did I learn in my travels you ask? That what you search for is never far from where you started…. I know of a pirate who’s eyes haunt you as they look into your very soul, a figure so enchanting that, the mere shift would drive a man wild, a wit sharper than any rapier made by man and burns as hot as the colour of her hair. A Pirate that would fight side by side with you just at a simple request. Oh yes… I forget… and has outstanding dancing skills. Especially on the tables at this pub… My vote my brothers and sisters?….. Scarlet McBayne!!
