What makes a Pyrate ye say? From the dawn of time there's been a wind a blowin'. There's been a Siren's call drawing men to the Sea. The Sea is an Evil Mistress, she'll beat ye like a dog and then cradle ye in her warm loving arms. She's a Mistress that can't be tamed. Ye ave ta larn how to work her and understand her moods. It takes an Independant Man, a man with a heart of stone and compassion to abide with her whims. He doesn't have to be brave or fearless....them's what don't fear and respect this Mistress will no doubt vanish and long be forgot. Ta say ye ave no fear is to admit yer ignorance, says I. Have ye felt death beatin' down on ye? Have ye felt fear for your very exhistence? Have ye known Love and lost it? Have ye felt the gale or the soft southern trades in yer face or at yer back? There's no explainin'it. It just is what drives us......Like a fair wind blowin' warm outa the South.

Nana has something cornered in the shelter, probably a rat.

We all had a good hike after dinner at the High School I am student teaching at. The sophomores held a fundraising dinner for their junior prom next year, so I bought tickets for everyone and when we got home.... EXCERCISE TIME!!!

    Bo

Nice rig Bo....Is that a Northwest trade gun yer packin'? Liam's right we do have a great period correct Rondy called Hart Canyon in April. We have Longhunters, pirates, Rangers and a complete period Colonial with a Hot Toddy Cart. We do have our various levels of experience participants, bust mostly they are all well seasoned and period correct....Just can't get em' to allow my cannons yet...Again nice rig...

  4. Some of you know that POD does most of my leatherwork that I sport at festivals and events. This is a trade item that I traded him for a hot sword/pistola belt for miss Applebooteh. Anyway, this is quite a bit upgraded then what he picked out for her but I wanted to make it something special for him since he did the same for me.

This is based off of our production 28" cutlass blade. I hand ground a fuller in it and gave it a false edge and pulled the standard edge back a bit then gave the spine a bit of filework.

The hilt is based off of our standard Bootstrap. I upgraded that a bit aswell. Added some file work and some hammer finishing.

The handle is upgraded to a hickory wood handle. I then spiraled it in both directions creating a pineapple effect.

The pommel was custom ground from a bar on the sander to get that pineapple shape.

    Her she is:

    Makes me feel a little Greek....If I were a Rich Man........Beautiful Weapon.....

  5. Just took me a peek at the Godwin shoes, but now I be all conflicted! What should I get...the all-purpose or the 17th century?

That be a quandry, ta be sure....But the way I sees it....posession be 9 points of the larr.....I believe the all purpose is all they have in abundance.....But things coulda changed in the last week.

  6. Ye needs a Pegleg I'm in, Commodore Sir !!! Aye that I am

Iron Hand be a Lowdly-Quiet man of Mystery. He runs his ship like a Mercenery Hessian with a Grudge against the World, but he treats his crew with respect, as long as they do what's required of them. He's honest to a fault and able ta lie his way out of any situation, I mean twist the Truth when necessary. He's a good Captain to have as a Friend but a terrible one to have as an Enemy. He loves ta drink but expects his men ta be able to act soberly. There's non meaner and non kinder. Slow and Sure he is and rarely made the fool, least not more than once...Savvy?

  7. This almost complete work Was done by Darrel Morris , An Artist who approached me at Escondido Ren Fair last year. Back then he was making naked images of Women and has since switched to pirates. Eye Know Scrimshaw was more popular during the Whaling years..but Eye wonder if it was a practice during GAOP?

Don't quote me but....I imagine as long as sailors been sailin' they been recordin' their journies on Bone or Ivory....Nice likeness by the way....saw one just like it in the Post Office today...Not carved, just a picture.........Yaaaaaaaarrrrrrr.

  8. Just a bump in case anyone has more info on the Reconstructing History shoes...

I emailed them about three weeks ago...and I don't know if it's just me but.....I feel when somebody won't take the time to respond to my inquiries to purchase product....I will go to someone eager to do business.....Just the way I am......Anyway....I just ordered a pair of shoes from gggodwin.com today. He is out of most style but he has the American civilian shoes comin' out his ears, he says.....They're square towed, rough side out and run large. Here's the good part 94.50 pr. in stock, usually ships next day.

This is the third pair I've ordered from them. I'm just finally retiring the first pair that have served me well since 1981. they cost 75.00 pr back then. They're not as stout lookin as Loyalist Arms Shoes, which I will order later, but I needed to re-shoe quickly. I've never had any problems with his shoes or service. gggodwin carries period correct merchandise at decent prices, not the cheapest, but not the most expensive.

Bye the Bye the ones Reconstructing History carries sure look like the ones on frontierfolk and if you buy them 5 at a time they're 75.00 pr. very low heel but that's fixable.
