  1. Oh, come on maybe just a little pretty. I would like to see a really authentic pirate movie.
  2. I have seen Patrick's at Ojai. Really Cool! Thats actually where I am getting my inspiration from for mine, hope you don't mind Patrick. Its not going to be identical.
  3. I does look like it could be from The Pirates Own book. I just have never seen it before.
  4. Anyone know where this pic came from, looks old but I can't tell how old. Someone obviously colored it. And I can't read the writing on the bottom.
  5. Me, . No, but seriously, did hear some say boots again.
  6. Did someone say boots? Boots These boots are a reasonable price, and pretty authentic and period. The same style dates from the early 1600’s seen in these pictures. To the 1700’s seen in this picture. Which I think Foxe has the other half. These are the boots I own from Caboots very nice and high quality. They look very similar to these. Which are from the shipwreck Batavia. Yes I know it was 1629 or 1628, I’ can’t remember. My point though is that someone on that ship had boots and if the style above lasted for many years, all the way through the GAoP Then why couldn’t the others and that’s good enough for me. Although my kit really isn’t specific to a certain year in the GAoP. My kit is period, but not super authentic, which I mean by that is that the patterns and material are period, but I sewed them by machine and the buttons probably aren’t either, but they are cool lookin.
  7. On some guys myspace web site. I'll see if I can find the page for you.
  8. I heared some where that the sailors would dress the newbies as women hang them from a seat on a yard and dunk them in the ocean. I can't remember where I heared that or read it or how accurate that is.
  9. Shoot me a PM and lgive me the details. I live close to LA, but can only work weekends or at night.
  10. Bump, someones got to know? Found It, never mind. I was close. Thanks for the help Red Maria Soused Hog's Face 1 pig's head, about 10lbs, cleaned, but not skinned 2 lbs (6 cups) white cornmeal 3 cups white wine 3 cups white vinegar 1 cup water 2 bay leaves 1 tablespoon salt 12 peppercorns 1 knob fresh ginger, about an inch long, sliced 1 nutmeg, cut in half Place the head in a large bucket with half the cornmeal and cold water to cover. Soak 2 hours or longer. Remove the head from the water, rinse well, and place in a large pot with the remaining cornmeal and water to cover. Bring to a boil, coverered, and simmer 3 hours. Remove from the pot. When it is just cool enough to handle, pick all meat from the bones. Reserve the tongue and ears. Wring out a cloth in warm water. Put all the meat into the cloth and tie up as tightly as possible. Chill until firm. Combine the wine, vinegar, 1 cup water, and the spices. Untie the cloth and pack the meat into a crock. Add the tongue and ears. Pour the wine mixture over the meat. Weight the meat to keep it submerged ( a plastic bag partly filled with water works nicely). Seal the crock and store in a cool dark place for up to two weeks before serving. Serves 6 (from Lobsouce and Spotted Dog: a gastronomic companion to the Aubrey/Maturin novels.
