  1. ...but a train wreck. I think this was inevitable and it's a pity she couldn't pull herself out of the miasma that was her life.
  2. Depends on the situation. However, my wardrobe consists of: Five pair pants (all long, silk, linen, etc.) Six shirts Four skirts (working on number five) Three vests (working on number four and five) Some assorted bodices for fairegoing - five or six. I'm working on a set of stays. One justacorps Two belts Three Howard Pyle-inspired sashes One pair boots One pair shoes (looking to replace the buckles) One pair knit socks Two tricorns Four or five waist cinchers (when the really Hollywood look is required) I'm sure there's more but I can't recall right now.
  3. It's a rare topic that doesn't go off on at least a small tangent around here. And if I could bottle the smell of onions (and mushrooms!) cooking in butter accurately, I'd really be on to something. A new line of comfort scents...
  4. Rain, some flooding. Cool during the day, somewhat cold at night. Typical Northern California winter.
  5. I love the smell of laundry when it has been hung out to dry. Also, the smell of the ocean, onions cooking in butter and lilacs.
  6. This is the second time this "game" has been mentioned. Ummm.... unless we trust ya, it's SPAM.
  7. Our bed curtains double as mosquito netting, although they aren't foolproof. Jack bought one of those mosquito netting curtains to augment the curtains at certain times of the year. (We live near water - big mosquito problem some years...)
  8. ^ Usually pack, occasionally buy (better control of the calories that way) < Just wrote a new skit to perform at a birthday party. V What's your typical breakfast?
  9. When I was in my 20's, my bedroom had a tropical theme. The fabrics were fairly subtle for the theme, but to make up for it I had a palm tree. No mosquito netting, although I was tempted.
  10. Not sure if I'll ever really retire - most likely I'll start doing something else. Jack and I have kicked around an idea for a business that will utilise both our talents and be a heck of a lot of fun. We're both the kind of people who actually want to keep busy, even when we're older. But some decompression time will definitely be in order.
  11. Some of the best fragrances IMO can't be found in department stores. A lady outside of Santa Fe does a really good Sandlewood/Patchouli/Rose blend that no one else has been able to duplicate. I've tried commercial perfumes and colognes, but I prefer scents that you really can't get at a department store. But that's just me... Jack likes Escada for men, but that's a tough one to find. So many of the men's scents smell like furniture polish to me.
  12. Don't Stop Me Now - Queen (that scene from Shaun of the Dead keeps popping into my head...)
  13. And generally speaking, single posts with a URL tend to be SPAM, so folks here will avoid the site like the plague.
  14. ^Outside, definitely. < Going to raid a boy scout meeting with a bunch of pirates this weekend. V Any big vacation plans this year?
  15. First, Disney does nothing to truly promote POTC (from a public standpoint.) Then they go overboard. I think somewhere in the middle is perhaps the best policy. They've already changed the POTC ride - why mess with another themed part of the park? Doesn't make sense.
  16. ^ It was one of those prosaic, cataloging the day's events collection of dreams. < Have SO much to do on my winged harpy costume before WonderCon. v Have you ever had a dream come true? (As in a prophetic dream?)
  17. ^ Probably something with cheese. < Big storm coming this way - sigh... V What's for lunch?
  18. According to a lot of accounts, there was punishment, but it did have to be voted on. So no whipping for being insolent to an officer (no officers), but probably if they did something to jeopardize their fellow pirates and those other pirates agreed that a good thrashing was in order.
  19. A bullwhip would get caught in the rigging or some other part of the ship - to long and ungainly. Cat 'o nine tails were used to start the crew on many a ship, though.
  20. Hey - we had plenty of cold weather when you folks in the East were talking about temps in the 60's and 70's. Now we're up for some rain, wind and flooding - woo hoo!
