  1. Shoots the guy with the scimitar. Note on that scene. They had been shooting in the heat all day and I think Ford was not well also. So they are shooting that scene ....AGAIN, and he says forget it and pulls out the pistol. Don't know, that may be urban legend but I like it! I knew some of the folks involved. Apparently, it isn't an urban legend. They had this big whip-scimitar fight planned and it had been a long day. After several takes, he just whipped out the gun and they decided that would work.
  2. ^ Colour, definitely! At my place, the bedroom is dark red, the foyer is a dusty teal, the second bathroom is dark taupe, the living room is tan and off-white stripes on one wall and distressed brown on two others... you get the picture. < Between Jack and me, we can repair or build just about anything. He's a better carpenter and I'm better at electrical work, though. V What is the most outrageous colour you would or have painted a room?
  3. Getting ready for bed - it was a long day today!
  4. ^ Ironing! I try as much as possible to avoid it, but there are some things that need to be ironed, darn it! < Sneezed for the first time since I busted up my ribs - can you say agony boys and girls? I'm a very violent sneezer - one of my ribs MOVED. V Pass the question.
  5. ^ I much prefer to do repairs/upgrades myself and hire out only as a last resort. < I come from a long line of REALLY handy people. V Pass the question.
  6. Oooh - I LOVE watching thunderstorms. There was a terrific one off the coast of Jamaica that I watched for hours. And I'm partial to Arab/Quarterhorse mixes. You get the gait and smarts of the Arabian with the responsiveness and turn-on-a-dime ability of Quarterhorses.
  7. ^ Kelp! I like macrocystis pyriphera particularly. < At home, waiting for my back to stop spasming so I can walk and drive. Darn these ribs! V Summer rain? Yay or nay?
  8. I live in that back section of JoAnn's with the shelves of upholstery fabric...
  9. Mine was inspired by the label on Sinister Hand wine.
  10. I just wish my back would stop spasming. Every once in awhile the muscles will tighten up for no apparent reason - PAINFUL! It happened a few times during client calls, which is a tad awkward... I actually feel worse than I did a week ago. Don't know what that's about. Thanks for your good wishes. Some healing thoughts my way would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Try Frankenstein again, Hitman. It's wonderfully creepy! I got goosebumps while reading it and that doesn't happen that often. Delivery can make all the difference if you're listening to audiobooks - I listened to Theodore Roosevelt's "Rough Riders" - an incredibly fascinating story, ruined by the deadpan delivery of the reader. This guy was narrating about the amazing lives of the men who joined Roosevelt's Rough Riders and made it sound less interesting than a grocery list.
  12. Frustrated! I had a very bad fall on the fourth - twisted three ribs, bruised some more (both front and back on the left side) and tore some cartilage. I can't sail, fight with swords or throw tomahawks for weeks! And I thought I'd get a bit of sewing done, but that's too painful as well. I can't even cut fabric! Okay - enough whining; I'll be back in the swing of things in a few weeks. This is very frustrating, though - did I mention that?
  13. Nice to know there are other folks with the fabric "bug". I spent a day on my last Hawaii vacation rummaging through a fabric store. Naturally, I came away with a suitcase full... And if you're ever in the SF area, you should check out Britex Fabrics. Four floors of fabrics and trims!
  14. STILL editing and re-writing software help files. Seems like there are hundreds of these buggers.
  15. Books, dark chocolate, edged weapons...
  16. A group of burrowing owls has taken up residence in the field near where I work. This field is full of ground squirrels and typically burrowing owls take over old ground squirrel and gopher nests. These owls are only about eight or nine inches tall, don't have the tufted "ears" that you see on most birds and make their nests underground rather than up in a tree. Also, unlike other owls, they aren't nocturnal. The movie "Hoot" featured burrowing owls. At any rate, they are awfully cute - I could watch them for hours, but they get a bit miffed at me invading their space. When they are miffed, they bob up and down with some serious deep knee bends. Short video of a miffed owl I did manage to take some photos of them.
  17. I've been getting those A LOT lately. "Cards" from family members, mates, friends, etc.
  18. It's always tough to lose a member of one's family... Though it sounds like he was a much-loved kitty and had a good life. That's all any creature could wish for.
  19. Editing and re-writing software help files.
  20. I hate 'em too. There have been times when I've needed a medication in the middle of the night and didn't want to turn on the light and blind myself. I end up forcing the cap off, cursing its designer.
  21. ^ Yeah. I felt like I was spinning my wheels and putting out fires for a lot of it. I had good friends to see me through the tough times. And plenty of good times. < Indian food tonight! (Northern Indian this time.) V Any time in your life that you'd do over?
  22. Got this one this morning - it seemed apropos... "Pillage decided"
  23. I don't think my mum would be too keen on that one... We were thinking of setting him up with a "beer of the month" subscription.
  24. Yeah, I've thought of the gift of an experience. Thing is, it's tough to figure out something fitting. My mum is visiting me for lunch today, so we'll need to strategize. And he and my mum married in the early 80's, so the pics are in colour.
