  1. MY FEET HURT! One more day... But I got to meet some great folks and pick up some cool booth swag, though. Not a lot, but good stuff. But this hotel doesn't have any of the History channels.
  2. From what you've been saying, Pepe was a very loved member of the family. Any dog would be lucky to have such a good life that her leaving it makes her so missed. Sending good thoughts your way...
  3. Aye - Iron Hand and Nancy are about my height and I'm average height for a woman, so Patt is indeed in the "Tall Pirates" club. Certainly past six feet tall...
  4. Big breakfast this morning (for me, anyway) - half a bowl of oatmeal with some walnuts, cinnamon and a wee bit of brown sugar, a scoop each of scrambled eggs and potatoes, a banana and half a glass of orange juice. I was watching the guys further up the breakfast buffet line; they were grabbing mounds of bacon and sausages and each made at least one waffle with all the fixings - at least 3,000 calories in just one meal! Sigh - they were young and still immortal. Just wait, lads...
  5. In my hotel room, in the wall behind the sofa and just below ceiling level is a sprinkler head. I don't know why it's there and not in the ceiling but... whatever. At any rate, it's a sprinkler head. Below it is a small sign: it has a hanger with the red circle and slash across it. That got me wondering - was there an incident that prompted that sign? I can't imagine what would possess someone would consider hanging something up on a small sprinkler head eight feet up and behind the sofa. But I've learned not to assume anything about the depths of stupidity some people are capable of. At any rate, it has provided me with some amusement.
  6. I'm at my hotel in Seattle - it's been a loooong day. And there will be another long day tomorrow. One thing I noticed is that they seem to roll up the sidewalks here fairly early. I'm just at the edge of downtown and there's nothing going on. As I walked back to the hotel, I felt as though I was in a remake of Omega Man.
  7. If you show up in the morning, Patt will resemble that photo in the "You and your garb" thread in a big way. Ya know we love ya, Patt.
  8. Yeah, it was pretty bad. And just a week ago our bedroom was filled with the smell of burning rubber. This is fairly unusual though, thank goodness!
  9. My company knows... I keep trying to get them to do our booth in a piratical theme - "We help ya ta keep yer treasure." I suppose I could smuggle you in...
  10. Getting ready to travel to Seattle for the Financial Planners Association Conference. I was a last-minute addition, so scramble scramble scramble. Mmmmm.... cookies!
  11. Who knew? And I thought it got rowdy in the encampments...
  12. Tired! I haven't been sleeping too well lately and last night we were visited upon by another foul smell. As usual, we had the window open and our fan on in front of it (it's one of those square floor fans, so it fits in the bottom half of the window perfectly.) Around 3:00 am, a skunk felt threatened by something and sprayed - which was drawn right into our bedroom window. Sigh...
  13. Morgan always knows when something's up and Jack and I will be going out for the day. So he curls up in his bed by the deck and does his best to ignore us. Every once in awhile, though, he'll give us the Evil Eye.
  14. My kitty purring in my ear. He was rather insistent that I pick him up and now he's snuggling into my shoulder.
  15. Again? They need to change their music on hold.
  16. There's a camping area just outside of the faire entrance for those folks with modern tents, trailers and such who aren't staying overnight in the encampments. There are porta-potties nearby if memory serves, but no running water. I recommend arriving during the day, since the gate is hard to see at night. If you're on the gatelist as a member of a guild, check in at the registration desk and get your paper bracelet. The faire is to the left and the camp area is to the right of the registration area.
  17. I watched The Mission last night. Got outraged, as usual. I'm of two minds when it comes to watching movies like this. I hate getting that angry from watching a movie, but maybe if enough people see it and get angry at such atrocities it may help this from happening again - at least as often. Dunno - it's still happening nowadays. Humans are such a perverse species.
  18. You got it! One of the cases where the movie is better than the book - John Cusack did a great job with it.
  19. Here's an easy one: "If you really wanted to mess me up, you should have got to me earlier."
  20. Just got Shanghaied in San Francisco, which recounts the historic methods for acquiring sailors on the Bay of Saint Francis.
  21. It's not for a couple of weeks. First weekend will be September 21-23. Hopefully there will be LOTS of pictures!
  22. No chocolate??? Damn, Gary - that IS deprivation! Capt. Bo - I'm not a hunter, but my kit would be very similar to yours. Come to think of it, I pretty much have all those things, although I have a rifled percussion cap pistol rather than a musket.
  23. We'll probably be scrambling around on Friday afternoon and evening, but some of the camps may have something going on. And feel free to hang out in our camp either Saturday or Sunday. Hey... if you really want to initiate Chain Shot, have him volunteer for our reenactment of California history.... (Hint: it will involve a boat.)
