  1. Woo hoo - lost another 1/2" in my waist! Two more inches to go. I bought myself a pair of jeans about six weeks ago, which were too small (by design.) They are now a bit baggy in some places. Of course they will shrink down almost a size when I wash 'em, so...
  2. Iron Bess has a Davey Jones chest CD player.
  3. Hmmm... I saw it and I'm not astonished. Okay, I was astonished at the price.
  4. Mark - that tree is, as they say, WAY cool.
  5. Your garb did look good! I'm mostly letting my garb age on its own as well. My white shirt has permanently grey cuffs and some interesting stains here and there. The dark red shirt is starting to get some other colours on it as well. My black linen pants, well, I have two of those so it's taking longer to get those to show wear.
  6. And the primitive area just specifies "Pre-1840". (At least the one we go to does...) So you can set up your camp however you like up to 1840. We're making adjustments to our tent and all so that we don't have to bug out a day early. It would be cool to see more pirates at this event - they were very happy to see us both this time and in April.
  7. During the day it was great! Jack and I got to try out our new long guns and we've been adding to our camp so it will be more authentic. We also did some tomahawk and knife throwing as well. And bought a few things here and there from the sutlers. We planned to stay through Sunday, but on Friday night it got below freezing and my hips and back were in excruciating pain (arthritis, bad back...) We didn't want to risk going through that another night so we left Saturday evening. Patt stayed until today though. He's posting so it looks like he survived the second night!
  8. ^ Not so much the chores but the obligations. Seems to me that the holidays should be about celebration, not about being made to feel guilty by family members just so you'll do what they want. Pretty much everyone has at least ONE of those kind of family members, right?... < Got back from a black powder rendezvous last night. Lots of shooting and throwing sharp objects. V pass the question
  9. I'll definitely vouch for Chain Shot - you can see what good taste he has in gifts; look at the great cutlass he got for Ransom. (Not that we're expecting him to give one of us a cutlass, mind you...) And count me in as well!
  10. They probably stay put - they look like after-market breasts...
  11. And mine has seen me through years of swordfights. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone up your way to cross blades with. Check out Deacon's postings on the TO7S forum.
  12. It's made by Windlass Steelcraft and they make good blades!
  13. One tradition our group has taken up is "Spoobage Alert".
  14. ^ Going to a black powder rendezvous, where I'll be shooting my black powder pistol and rifle and throwing sharp objects. < Hey - I didn't know you were expecting. Congratulations! v Pass the question.
  15. Great! You'll have to post pics - that is a seriously cool sword!
  16. What?? You didn't raise your own sheep, shear the wool and make your own felt?? You're slipping, Patt!
  17. Muscular men mixing martinis
  18. Check out these notebooks - in particular, the Jolly Roger notebook. More notebooks
  19. I can't wait to see the looks on the other folks' faces when you bring THAT on the the trail walk. Heh. And bring your doglock anyway - between you and Jack I'm sure you'll get it working right. Jack bought us a couple of long guns, so we'll be trying those out this weekend along with our pistols. Also, we thought we'd do both the trail walk and the stationary target shooting, as well as the tomahawk/knife throwing. Gotta remember - NO COFFEE FOR ME. And I have to bring my glasses this time so I can see the darn targets!
  20. I'll keep my eyes peeled as well. And according to the weather gurus, it's supposed to be warmer than it was in April. I'd still say bring all four blankets just in case, Patt.
  21. Vince was there last weekend. He was the one who requested my rum cake and he was great helping out with our auction.
  22. Heh. Every once in a while they let me get a word in edgewise...
  23. Hmmm... it worked fine for me. I'd say check your browser settings and keep trying - it's the best indicator of who is where.
  24. Well, there is a map: Check out this thread
